DL Fireworks pics 11/4 & 11/5/05

Your photos are fabulous do you have a fancy camera. I am looking into buying a fuji finepix for my trip next year as I believe it can take fireworks photos.

If you don't mind me asking . .
What settings did you use and did you using a full sized tripod?

BTW: Absolutely amazing shots!

Awesome pictures. We'll be there next month and can't wait. Where did you take those from - the train station?

We were there on Friday night and were in front of you!!! In one of the shots of yours I can see my husband taking a picture! Oh funny. We got a few good shots, but not as many clear ones as you. Good job! Were you the one by the way who asked some people to tie their balloon down lower? There was this big balloon up in the air and I was debating going and asking them to tie it lower, when someone behind us askd them first. If it was you, thanks!

I pushed the ISO to 200 on my camera though I probably would have less grain with an ISO of 100 or even 50. I just wanted something a little faster.

I experimented with different speeds and f stops and settled on 1/4 second and 3.2-3.8. Some came out better than others but you get better with practice. The first night my tripod was fully extended and we were up at the hub just in front of er behind Mickey and Walt. (Yes that was me who sent down word asking for the balloon to be lowered) My battery ran out that night so the display stopped working and finally the camera stopped working. I forced Manual focus to Infinity because it was trying to focus on certain things closer.

The second night we were about 1/2 way down the walkway on the hub in the middle. One of my tripod legs gave up the ghost and refused to stay locked so I had to bring the camera down to only the first extension on the tripod. It was nice though because I could sit and fire off pics instead of standing.

My favourites are the one that is crooked just of the castle, the mickey head in fireworks and the last shot of the castle in silhouette. It was not as moving the second time we saw the fireworks, but better for a camera perspective because I knew what to expect and finally got a decent shot of Tinkerbell and got the Mickey head which I missed the first night. BTW the Mickey head was larger the second night IMHO than the first.

They are much better on my screen than what Photoworks shows, but they also shrink for quality when doing web-displays.

FANTABULOUS! :earsgirl: I can't wait I have 14 more days to go before I am at the Happiest Place on Earth!!!

Wow, I so can not wait to see this in person!!
