what would an adult dining plan cost and what do you get is it worth it meaning is the food quality as good as dw??

The dining plan at DLR is inferior (IMO and many others here) to WDW's because:
a) It doesn't save you as much money

b) You get a set amount of dollar amount vouchers and when you use those vouchers you don't get change. So for example if you want to pay for something that costs $4.95 with a $5 voucher, you will lose 5 cents. That's not a big deal, but if you have run out of $5 vouchers, you need to either pay in cash (which defeats the purpose of a dining plan) or pay with a $10 voucher and lose $5.05 (which can add up significantly)

c) You can't use the vouchers at Downtown Disney restaurants

The food quality is similar to WDW, but there are significantly less options at DLR. I think for an adult, the price is like $87 for 3 days and you get:
-Character breakfast
-Breakfast in the park
-3 $5 vouchers
-2 $10 vouchers
-1$15 voucher

For more days, you get more vouchers and more Character meals

If you are looking to pre-pay for meals, it is better to buy Disney gift cards so you don't have to deal with the hassle of the vouchers.

thanks for explaining it to me:thumbsup2 So now I am thinking ...is it better to eat outside of disney since we will have a car ??

I would still eat on site. There are plenty of great places to eat in either DL, DCA, DTD or the 3 hotels. But the meal plan is not a value like the plan is at WDW. WDW markets their meal plan as an up to 40% savings. DL, however, does have several places with AAA discounts
We have several places like the Blue Bayou, Ariels Grotto for lunch or dinner, and several other places that we HAVE to eat at on our trips/

There are a lot of restaurants out there with in a 10 mile radius that include mom and pop as well as big chains. There is Denny's, Claim Jumper, Chili's, Outback which mom and I split meals, Benihana, Applebees, Chris and Pitts Barbecue, McDonalds, Subway, Quiznos, and Mimi's to name a few.

Gardenwalk has some great restaurants.

My pastor and his family loved this place over in my area.
