Wondering if there are birthday buttons available at DL as in WDW? If so where can you get them?

My son will turn 6 in the middle of our trip. What are some special things (on the low-key side) to just mark the day as a bit more special than the rest for him? Of course, the whole trip is special!

I'm really just hoping he will get picked for Jedi Training Academy - that would make his day!

Buttons are available at City Hall. We've gotten stickers at different restaurants and at the first aid center, too. For a birthday, we've gone to the Plaza Inn to decorate cakes. Kind of goofy, but fun. Also, we've done Goofy's Kitchen for breakfast and had a character deliver a birthday cupcake with a birthday button.

There is also a place just inside DCA, right across from where u can rent strollers and lockers...think it's Guest Services....they'll give you a Birthday button and just as we were leaving the CM called my niece back to the desk because she had a phone call for her...it was Goofy sining happy B-day to her. She was on :cloud9:

In DL, there is a Bday Celebration inside the Plaza Inn everyday at 1:00 (I think?) It costs $10/person and each person gets a little cake to decorate and then Mickey and Minnie come. They have a mini march around parade and then picture taking. My kids really loved it and it was well worth the money to see Mickey in a low stress, no waiting in line situation! You make reservations through Disney Dining.

If you do go to city hall to get a bday pin, there is a phone right there and your son can get a happy bday call. If you are staying on property, tell them ahead of time and they will have the bday button at the desk at check in along with an autographed picture and sometimes balloons.

Just wearing the pin will get your son lots of bday wishes from almost all the cms. Any sitdown restaurants will also sing and bring a goodie as long as you let them know it is his bday. At Goofy's you can even order party bags!

I've read that you must be really aggressive to get picked for the Jedi thing. Kids are holding up signs and really screaming to get picked. Mine were just too too shy for that and naturally did not get picked. If you really have your heart set on it, make a sign, get there early and if you don't get picked, be prepared to go back each show to try again! Good luck.

pixiedust: I have not told him about the Jedi Training thing or that he "could" get picked. I was shying away from the "agressive sign" thing - but maybe I will, in the end. If he wears a star wars shirt, his birthday button and we make a sign saying something about wanting to be picked as his birthday wish? Otherwise, I guess it's up to fate. We have four kids - our luck one of the girls will get picked! My oldest is a "lucky" girl - always gets her name drawn for prizes at school and things like that -- maybe her luck will rub off on her little brother for the day! He's a pretty good kid - he'll just be happy to be spending the day with his family and at Disney. When we were in WDW two years ago, he attracted many looks and smiles as we sat on the steps under the "big hat" and he was doing his own jedi performance with his darth vader mask on and a light saber that my dh bought him!

This will be the first trip he'll be tall enough for Space Mountain and Tower of Terror -- and their first trip to DL -- so the first trip on Matterhorn. And of course, he's a pirate at heart, so just seeing the new changes will make his day!
