I'd read on dvcnews a while back that they were building Aulani models for the DL DVC tour and were planned for an April debut. Does anyone know if these are open yet? We're heading down next week and would like to check them out - always looking for a nice place in Hawaii.

Thanks!

My husband and I toured them in February. I'm not sure why they're just now being announced as open . . . ? ;)

Let me know if you'd like a referral to a DVC representative there. :)

ps - The models are beautiful, and very similar to Kidani Village (just a Hawaiian theme instead of an African theme, obviously).

And, if you are in Hawaii, I understand there are models to tour at the resort as they have started selling there. You will not have a tour of the resort, but can see actual rooms.

Aloha,

Robert

I wish we were heading down to Oahu for the week! Nope, just visiting Anaheim, I use just very liberally.

Anyway, we're debating between getting on the waitlist for some more VGC points for adding on at Aulani. Hence we were hoping the models would be open to see. I'm just not sure we plan enough Disneyland trips in advance to make more VGC points worthwhile... But Hawai'i now that's somewhere we also like to go and is usually planned in advance...

We've already made our once in a decade WDW trip last year ('91, '00, '10); and am not sure we'll be headed back that direction any time soon. We much prefer the California climate to Florida and each time we've been to WDW we wish we were in Disneyland instead.

But at any rate we find ourselves in the need of more points...

Thanks all!

Indeed, Aulani models at both DL and Hawaii are open! But in Hawaii, it is one better because they aren't models but ACTUAL POOL VIEW rooms! I toured them 2 weeks ago and the lazy river was running and the view was breathtaking! Alas, no cameras allowed. Nearly worth the trip to Hawaii just to see the resort, though! Trip report on another DVC news site.

ALSO the guide told me that 1) self parking is free for owners, 2) kids club is free for owners, and 3) because there is a hotel portion, room service will be available! Nice perks in Hawaii! :cool1:

Does anybody know if there are "open house" hours during the week for existing members to have a look? I wouldn't want to commit to an appointment or bother a CA guide when I already have a guide I like.

I was there last Thursday and was told the models are open and you do not need an appointment. The models are open from 9am-12pm and are in the big orange building (aka BOB) near the Disneyland Hotel. We didn't end up going since that's prime park hours for us and we were only there for the day, but we might drop by on our next trip in a couple of weeks when we stay for a few days.

I'd be surprised if this is the case. DVC members do get a discount (10%?) at the kids clubs at WDW, but don't get a discount at the Grand Californian. Maybe we'll get a discount at Aulauni? Free would be amazing!

Alright we went over this morning and added on 100 Aulani points. The only thing I hate about this kind of thing is them having different incentives sometimes depending on how you buy. It was $120 less $12 a point incentive. Anybody heard of anything better for an add on?

Alright gotta go World of Color is starting soon. DVC members have a rough life...

Congratulations!!!

I think Aulani will be a beautiful resort. We just drove by it this past Saturday. I can't wait to get in and see it once everything is open! :)

That sounds like an awesome price! I haven't read about pricing lately, but net $108 per point seems great. Are they adding on closing costs? Congratulations! You must have loved the models :).

Yes the models were awesome, only better wouldve been the real thing!

Closing costs to us were $78, the excuse they gave us fir charging for add INS was they use a different closing company. I think that's a standard sales half truth, but it is what it is.

On the incentive side I wish there was something more to squeeze out of them, as I'm sure they'd do the same to us.

You will LOVE it! I actually got choked up at the view! :lovestruc

And I'm not kidding about the kids club being free to members. I'll see if I can check that with my guide, but the Hawaii guide said so. And I questioned her about it. Not a discount... Free.

Does anyone know the minimum point buy in now? My SIL actually got the sales materials and now wants me to 'explain' it all to her..that's what I get for treating her and BIL at VGC:scared1:

Does anyone know if there's even the slightest chance rooms might be available at Aulani sooner than the official opening date?

Congratulations and Welcome home Neighbor! I haven't heard of any better incentives. 145 days until our first stay at Aulani.

It's still 50 for new members.

Hey, you treated them to VGC - if they buy in at Aulani, they can treat you there. :-)
