We are planning on making a trip to DL at Christmas. We are splitting a stay between there and Las Vegas. We have been to WDW at Christmas and it was great up until Christmas Day and then it got VERY crowded. How is DL at that time of the year? Would Christmas be a good time or would the days after(closer to New Year's) be better---or is it just packed the whole time? How is the weather at that time of the year?

Thanks!!

The busiest days in the park (per a CM) are the days between Xmas and NY. We went the 2 days after xmas 2007 and they stopped selling tickets to DL (could still go to DCA or buy a multi-day hopper) by 11 am on Dec. 27th!! It was crazy! We will never do it again. Last year my SIL was there from the 27th through NY and the park reached capacity on one of the days.

Ooooooh! One of my favorite topics - Disneyland at Christmastime!! That is actually my favorite time to be at DLR overall - during the holiday seaosn. I would avoid anything after Christmas - that is when the crowds REALLLLLLY begin to pack in because people are off work and armed with holiday gift money and they come to the parks in herds! I mean, yes, December in general will be more crowded than some other months because DLR is so beautiful and magical during the holiday season, but it is generally pretty manageable in early December and even all the way up to right before Christmas it is bearable. The last two years I was at DLR on the weekends right before Christmas and this year I would like to try going a little earlier in the month.

You will be lucky to see the DLR holiday overaly exclusives - Haunted Mansion Holiday and It's a Small World Holiday. The facade of IASW Holiday is absolutely stunning to look at at night - breathtaking - and HMH is more colorful and lively than ever before under the watchful eye of Jack Skellington and his crew. The smells of peppermint and gingerbread and pine that are pumped into IASW Holiday are festive, and in the HMH ballroom scene, there is a fresh new gingerbread house (last year it was a coffin) on the table every year.

You will have a blast!
