DL and Vegas

Flying from Boston, we have a wedding in Vegas. Has anyone done Vegas and DL in the same trip? Any advice? I am travelling with my mother who is a reluctant flyer so I am not sure if I can get her to add the DL portion. She has never been to DL and I know she would love it! Time frame is mid March. I have a trip to WDW for a wedding late May/early June
Thanks in advance.

You can drive from Vegas instead of flying if she doesn't want to fly again.

If you plan to drive, be advised: on Sundays, even though you’ll be in the middle of the desert, you’ll hit miles of traffic due to all of the people returning to LA. Exercise caution ;-).

Yup, NEVER head to SoCal from Vegas on a Sunday if you can help it. The 15 is two lanes each way and is frequently clogged with traffic on Sundays with returning Californians.

Conversely, never head to Vegas from SoCal on a Friday.

If you have any questions about the drive, I have done it many times and don't mind answering questions (I live in LV).

March can be a very nice time to visit DLR -- the weather is mild, Food & Wine Festival will be going on in DCA, Spring Break might be going (so longer hours, more staffing, more entertainment), etc. It can be very doable to visit LV and DLR in the same trip. Would you be able to fly into LAS and out of SNA (the closest airport to DLR)? Then you wouldn't have to worry about a return trip to LV.

Thank you everyone, especially the traffic information. I commute to Boston every day and sit in lots of traffic. I don't want to do it on vacation. I might have to convince her to fly. I just found out about this wedding yesterday so I am exploring my options.

Could I do the drive on a Saturday morning from DL to Vegas? The wedding is at 4pm. We have no issue waking up early if we need to. I am thinking it would be best to go to DL first and get the longer flight out of the way. Rent a car in Anaheim to drive to Vegas and then leave the car at the airport in Vegas. I could return it early if it is too expensive to keep it. I have to see if it costs to park at the hotel.

Pretty much every hotel in Vegas will have a parking fee. The cost varies of course.

You should have no problem driving to Vegas on a Saturday morning (am planning that for my next trip myself).

On the car rental area at McCarran- do know that you have to take a shuttle bus to and from the airport as the rent-a-car center is not directly at the airport, but a couple of miles away, though it's nice and big.
