I've heard both bad and good things about WDW provided DJs. I don't like that disney chooses him/her for you only a month in advance. But I read in the passporter weddings book (great resource, btw) that you can put in a request with a specific DJ directly to be penciled in on your date so that s/he is available when the wedding planner goes to book it. I'm very picky about music and have specfic song requests, do not plays, etc. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a DJ they liked? Thanks!

My daughter had "Frankie C" and he was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She had a Wishes wedding at the Wedding Pavilion and reception at the Grand Floridian. YOu might ask your planner about him and his website which I can't seem to remember. We had a Jewish wedding and he knew all of the songs and dances that were traditional. He has done many Disney weddings and comes very well experienced.

I almost feel I should recuse myself from commenting :), however I think I can give you some objective advice. Almost all the Disney-approved DJs perform non-Disney weddings as well, and have their own successful DJ businesses throughout Central Florida.

From my observations, all the Disney DJs genuinely care about each reception and want to do the best job possible for every wedding. A lot of the time, it comes down to individual style. I would suggest you look at each of the DJ's individual websites, and that can give you a sense if they would be a good fit for you. Your Disney wedding coordinator can point you in the right direction, as well.

There is also no rule that says you can't call the DJ and talk to him, either! I would encourage you to speak to any of the Disney-approved DJs based on the advice from other Brides here on the board, what you see on the DJ's websites, and Disney's suggestions. And yes, it IS true you can request a particular DJ in advance, you just have to let Disney know to do through their system. Easy!

Hope this helps!

I had Chuck! (See above) We LOVED him! We had a great time and everything was timed perfectly! Just be specific and you will get what you want! :)

<Hi Chuck!>

Scott Messina!!! He is GREAT!! He actually came up to Maryland for our
pre-Celebration. Highly recommended.

<Hi Chuck!>

I had Chuck as well. Here's my review for him. I reccomend him!

DJ Chuck - A+
I requested him because I've heard such good things about him on the boards. He was great! He played all the songs I wanted and played all the songs that were requested by the guests. For a small group our guests were a bit shy about getting out there and dancing but he was able to get them out there! He was uplifting and awesome! I highly reccomend him.

Hi Chuck!! ;)

we had Disney DJ Charles Miles and he was awesome!!!!!!! He got our entire crowd on the dance floor, and that's saying something for a brunch reception!
He was so energetic, and fun. He listened to all our suggestions and requests, and was great to talk to beforehand too.

I would highly recommend him. He is also the DJ that works the NSSHP and VMCP too.

And we had the opposite experience with Frankie. He was a really nice guy, but his music choices were horrid. We requested 80's and 90's, and the first dances were Motown. No one was dancing! :headache: And it was kind of like that the entire time. We were bummed. Even the pre-reception music, we asked for Glenn Miller (i.e. In the Mood etc) and we got Rod Stewart.

I have a DJ background, I was a music director at a radio station, so I'm really picky about music. So take me with a grain of margarita salt! ;)

We had DJ Steve and he was great. He read the crowd really well and got everyone up dancing. He offered some suggestions that worked out really well.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Frankie C. I guess we just lucked out. I wonder if we were talking about the same person. I understand that he has also done many disney shows and events.

I HIGHLY recommend Scott Messina! He is absolutely incredible and passionate about his job (and is a great person too!). We had such classy, mellow, & elegant dinner music and then a knock-out fun and energetic "dance party" for our reception thanks to him. :woohoo: He also was the only WDW DJ to be featured on WE TV's Disney's Dream Weddings (he did ours, Courtney and Eric's, and Amy and Dan's receptions) and has also done tons of high profile weddings and events.

Definitely check out his website: www.mycelebritydj.com

As others have said- your planner can try to get your choice DJ very early out (I think ours booked Scott over 7 mos. out).

HTH!! :goodvibes

I work in the entertainment field and would highly reccommend Scooter or Charles Miles. I've been a bridesmaid in several Disney Weddings and Cast Members usually go with Charles or Scooter if they can get them. You have to put your request in as soon as possible though. They do other gigs besides Disney and are quite popular.

Thank you everyone for your responses! This really helps! :goodvibes The experience one of the PP had with requests not being answered was what I was afraid of. But from the responses, it appears this is the exception. I appreciate all the great recommendations! :thumbsup2

We had DJ Miles and he was aaaamazing! We have also been to a wedding where Chuck was the DJ and he was also great. The thing is to research the DJ's and see what you want in terms of reception style. I believe the DJ's all have different personalities and that can translate into how the DJ.

DJ Miles is really energetic and a real party starter. Had everyone...yes EVERYONE (even the older folks) on the dance floor. It was a hopping party. I requested no props or games and he complied. He also obliged my must play and do not play list and as the evening progressed kicked up the music lol! I multiple conversations with him one on one without Disney involved and simply told Disney he was the DJ I wanted (he is one their list and actually works many events for them).

You are talking about Charles Miles, right?
He is very good and does a lot of special events for Disney.

I had DJ Scooter and he was awesome! Very energetic and fun! Everyone loved him and had a great variety of music selections and lots of props! He is awesome!!!
