It's not just for runners. Anyone who gets dizzy going from laying to standing should "dangle" their legs over the side of the bed for a minute or two before standing, which allows their blood pressure to get up enough to support brain perfusion. Very common in the elderly who take a lot of medications.
I might have to start doing that. If I hop right out of bed or off a couch I black out and my legs can't support me for about half a minute. I'll try dangling my legs on the side of the bed for a while and see if it helps.
