which brands do you consider to be quality. When we had our previous home painted the painter wanted to use Sherwinn Williams.
I almost 55 years old (yikes) and I have been painting away lately. I use Sherwin Williams paint, they have sales all the time, 30% off, etc. I am boring, and use white paint on ceilings and trim in the entire house. I use SW Dover White for both. (Flat for ceiling, semi gloss for trim). Lately I have been using their H&G line, it's a little cheaper.
I have 2 roller sticks, that extend their lengths, a short and a long one. 1 1/2" angled brush for cutting in. Roller tray, disposable liners, hand hed cup thing, also with liners. Do not buy cheap rollers! We prime the walls if the color was dark, or if DH spackled alot. I do the walls first! I cut in along the ceiling, trim, in the corners, around the windows. 1-2 coats, sometimes just one. Then I roll the walls, 2 coats, usually one in the morning, the 2nd after lunch. Then I use tape (FROG TAPE is the best!!) cut in along the upper walls first, and then paint the ceiling, 2 coats, with the roller. Remove tape shortly after painting, pull it at an angle for best results. Then I tape along trim, and paint trim around the room with the semi-gloss. Lately I have been painting inside the closets when I do a room, I just use the primer. If I HAVE to, I paint the closet doors, room door. Paint inside any inlaid area first, then the flat areas. (brush of course).
I get great results! Want to sell this house next year, so I am using lots of neutrals.
So funny, people do ceiling first, trim first, and I do the walls first! It works any old way, I guess. Just don't try and use tape along the ceiling, and cut in the walls that way, it is a disaster, much easier to tape the upper wall, then along the ceiling edge!
