Is it safe enough to book things yourself?
eg room, tickets, food through Disney and flight through Virgin

How much riskier is it compared with booking a package deal?
I've never booked through a travel agent ever, just done things with companies direct, but then again I've never gone out of Europe or flown before.

I just went to Thomas Cook and they would be more expensive but if it is a lot safer then I would be prepared to do it, just have no idea which is better?

we normally do virgin holidays but this year did diy and saved so much

airlines are protected so is disney uk so if anything happens to them you should be able to claim you money back.

if you cant go as long as you have insurance you should be fine

We would def get insurance from somewhere, do I need to get that from Disney or Virgin or could I get it anywhere?

Also we will initially pay for everything with Credit Card to get that extra protection too.

DIY is cheaper - we have done it this year. Can't give you any info, but I do know that DIY holiday insurance exists. At the end of the day, if you are paying by Credit Card, you should be covered.

our insurance this year is with aa and they cover diy holidays

As the other poster has said pay on credit card - automatic protection :thumbsup2

I always do DIY it saves so much money for the same end product :)
