For those of you that have made them, do you prefer to bind them on top or on the side? I'm not sure which to do. Does anyone have a pros or cons to either? Thanks in advance!!!

The few I've bound, I've bound on the top. The last couple books I've made, I just did using 4x6 size and put into a small Disney photo album, no binding required.

I never do binding due to not wanting blank pages at the end of the trip
So
I just print my autograph cards as photos (clickable sharpie works for signing)
put them in a one per page hard cover photo album in alphabetical order by character name (use binder clips to hold the photo to outside of book)
once we return I put everything in a 2 per page photo album
picture of us with the character on top and the autograph on the bottom.

I agree with PPs. I don't bind them before the trip. I hate having blank pages in the book. I printed out autograph pages from here on the DIS (DISigns board). I used a small clipboard (5x7 or 6x8) to clip the pages onto the board to make it easier for the characters to sign.

Don't forget to print out blank autograph pages (not character specific) in case you run into characters you don't expect.

If you do plan to bind them, make sure you leave some white space along the edge you want to bind. On my pages, a few of the character pictures are slightly cut off because they are hidden under the binding.

I made my dd4 one of these for our last trip and I did not bind it, just did two page holes on top and used large metal clip hoops to put them on. This allowed for easy turning of the pages (which I also put in ABC order) and now, when we go again in March, Ill just reprint the pages she has autographs on and use the remaining pages to make a new book. The pages we already have autographs on Ill start a new binder with. I think Ill adventually make scrap books with them.

I bind mine on the end. I make them 5x7 so I have plenty of room to put a photograph on the page opposite the signature. I like binding before we go so that the binding doesn't cover up some of the signature. Some of the characters use the entire page!

I usually buy some colorful card stock, round the corners and punch a hole in the corner. I use one of those rings to put through to hold them together, but it's easy to flip to the next page. Easy!! And I always get comments on the idea.:)
