News report on WESH has it closed, permanently as of 3PM today. Reportedly, the land was bought out by an unnamed purchaser.

No more Dolly. Never did get there, but then I'm so not into that sort of thing. Country music, I mean.

Sorry Rick's DP! :scared:

And good Riddance I say!

And here's why!

This place was doomed from the day it opened. Lets set one thing straight.....or correct. :lmao: Dolly had little to do with this. She basically gave it an OK and filmed two ads, one for the better part of the year, and one for Christmas.

Mistake #1..ANNOYING....Christmas Dolly was second only to the Appliance Direct Gal for most annoying! (Any locals want to agree?)

Mistake #2 LOCATION Sure it was right off I-4, but try getting there as a tourist, a nightmare!

Mistake #3 INCLUSION When you booked your ticket you had to pick a side for the show, either North or South. Imagine being a black person booking that reservation!

#4 VALUE Your meal included a whole baked chicken. Ya right! I've seen Cornish game hens bigger! You plate was slapped down in front of you and that was it! No seconds, no extras, that's it! Many people left hungry. Not to mention in it's first months of operation they refused to sell Beer or Wine, or provide silverware!

#5 PUBLIC IMAGE You know I have some southern/country friends, and I know how they operate, and they mean well. But if your gonna whack an Ostrich over the head with a shovel to put it out of it's misery, make sure the family from the city isn't there to video tape it too sell to the local news! OUCH, That can hurt!

Basically, it was a poorly run dinner show (Oh how many do we have in this town) who paid Dolly for her services, and failed.

When will they learn?

Now the big question is who bought the land?

Hey Mike.. thanks for letting us know the real scoop on Dixie Stampede.. I always wondered what it was like..

I am a Dolly fan, just wonder why she would align herself with that kind of mess....someone gave her bad advice I would think...

Ugh! Why on Earth would anyone want seconds? The food was AWFUL!

We went only to see a friend of ours perform as "Skeeter" (the only woman ever to play that role, she was amazing).

We told friends who wanted to see her show, to go because she was great, but to eat first.

OH GREAT!! :headache: Now i have "SAME DAY DELIVERY" in my head... ;)

For those of you NOT local, and have never heard of Appliance D. you can check out a video on Youtube you only need to see about 30 seconds of it... For the one phrase that gets repeated over and over and over...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eobmHpQOwQo&feature=related

I agree with all your comments OrlandoMike, but must admit I never went there. I wouldn't be caught dead in that place for the many reasons you list.

Tonight's newscast has Premium Outlets as the purchaser. Expansion of the outlet shops, don't you know.

Yep. We really need more shops in the area. :sad2:

I went once (got a great deal as a Service Industry employee), and it was OK. A lot better than Arabian Nights. I do agree with what Mike said though.

You are evil, I just had a flashback to my ever so brief stent as a FL resident back when I first moved in with Gabby. :scared1: Maggie

In addition to the Pigeon Forge location mentioned by another poster, there is a Dixie Stampede in Branson, MO. Daddy and my son and I went this summer and had a blast! It was hokey and dorky and tacky and we had a great time.
