Looking to purchase more points and it got me thinking about diversifying my points portfolio.. lol. I currently own all of my points at AKV, but typically stay at BC. The sweet spot for us vacation length wise is 2 times a year for 10 days each and to continue that, I will need to purchase more points. Intially, I was thinking of just adding more AKV, but now I'm thinking of purchasing at a few different resorts and bank/borrow to stay at those resorts every few years. As much as I love BC, I struggle with purchasing points there because of the contract expiration. I'm currently looking at BLT and RIV, am I thinking about it correctly in that I should calculate the total amount of points needed and then purchase around 1/2 that amount of points so that I can bank/borrow and then I could stay at that particular resort every 2 years?

Yep this is correct. As someone who is particularly indecisive we like as much variety as possible. Hence why we own AKV, RIV and AUL with plans to add on at Poly in the relatively near future to have every aspect of WDW covered and Hawai’i judt because we love it there :X. Probably won’t add DL just because that’s our true home base but if it wasn’t we’d add at VDH/VGC too LOL!

If you want to stay at BCV and are able with 7mo points, then you definitely do not need more AKV. lol
You need what we call SAP (or SAP+ if you want to try a new place), id look into SSR, BLT & CCV and buy at whichever you like better, or if you don't really have a favorite, then whichever is cheaper.. which is BLT for dues, & SSR for purchase price (or CCV for length of contract).

Where else have you stayed, where else do you think you want to stay? Or any other reason you have interests in another resort, that is not next to Epcot. :)

We love the Epcot area so that's why I was thinking RIV. We have stayed at SSR and didn't care for it. Also thinking of seeing what Poly will bring, we typically stay in 1 bedrooms so that's why we never bought at the original poly.

Buy at RIV if you specifically want to stay there. Maybe direct so you actually can use the points elsewhere, but know you’ll take a bath if you ever sell (so don’t sell!). I keep wondering if they might develop the unused land in the Epcot area for more DVC myself.

Right now you can 7 month into RIV 1 bedrooms including standard ones.

With that being said I would roll the dice and buy SSR with the direct sale that is going on for the lower dues and because they are direct you would be able to use them at RIV.

Also if you needed to sell they are a little more attractive as the points can be used at the O14 resorts by the resale buyer.

Edit: We have also 7 monthed into BCV many times even during Spring Break by staying at a 1 bedroom.
