Good morning, ladies!!

Hope you are all having a good day so far. It's still early, so hopefully nothing has gone wrong yet!! :rotfl:

**Just wanted to let everyone know that the Summertime Exchange thread is up and running. You can find that here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=41141901#post41141901

As much as I dislike the heat, I am eager for summer! Lazy days, hot nights, pink lemonade, flip flops, the smell of coconut suntan lotion, fireworks on the 4th of July, smores! All sights, sounds and smells from summers past. :cloud9:

I hope many of you will decide to join us, and remember, you can sign up yourself and/or your kids! A fun summer time package full of goodies is a great way to kick off summer break for the little ones.

I'm going to post a link to the exchange thread on the front page. Hope to see you over there!

TTYL! :sunny:

Congrats to all of the Star Tour winners! :cheer2: Knew I couldn't make it, so never put my name in.

I have been super busy. Sewing, gardening and cooking for crowds is keeping me going. I'm still working on those Quiet Books. :headache: Last night, Dave and I fed about 50 needy kids that our church helps out. We have a program of volunteers that go out to about 4 different neighborhoods, 2 days a week to help with homework, and feed the kids. :goodvibes

Steph, BIG HUGS to you! .

Wendy, Way to go girl!! :cheer2:
I'm thinking with all of your finals and what not, are making it harder for your body to get well. That's alot of stress! Please take care and try to eat good. (You probably are, but as your Auntie I have to say these things. LOL...)

Congrats to Kathy and Jen too! Woo hoo! :woohoo::cheer2:

Patty, I did not realize you needed a kidney. Here is another hug for you! Sounds like you had a fabulous time at DL. I also saw the mess in NOS for the Pirate Premier. I couldn't believe what they did to set up for that!!
I took a couple pictures of it.

You talk about traffic control! :headache::scared1:

Here is another pic of my time at DL with Becky, Kaitlyn and Luca. :cloud9:

Last but not least!!! :cool1:
Sunday, I went to a Food Festival and saw Aarti Sequeira give a food demo. She was last year's winner of the Food Network contest. She is as cute and bubbly in person as she is on her show. I love her. Here is a coveted picture of her and I! :cloud9:

Beth, It took me so long to write this, I now saw your post. :rolleyes1
I'm with you on the summer thing. Next week, the kids are coming over for an official clean up the pool area and BBQ! It's gets quite filthy over the winter....dust, and spider webs galore! :headache:
It's so much fun to have our children invite their friends to come and swim too. Our pool is always open to everyone, all the time. It makes me happy to look out and see who is there. :grouphug:
I think I will check out the exchange!

I forgot to mention that "yes" the Scavvy team has been busy already working on ideas and the theme. Which by the way has been picked out!! :cool2:

We have been having fun! :dance3:

That's it. I swear I'm packing my bags and moving to Tulare. You don't mind adopting a family of 6, do you?? :rolleyes1
You and Jill both always sound like you have the best family life, lots of friends and loved ones around all the time. Always something fun and good going on. I'm jealous!!!

Great pics, by the way. :)

Aww, thankyou Beth! I could adopt yours and Katie's family!!! :flower3:
I am blessed to have my family around! Life is always busy, but I would not change it for the world!
:cloud9:

Ohhhh?? popcorn:: Are you being a tease? ;)
Yep!

Congrats Wendy :cheer2:. You are a better person than I. If I woke up sick, I probably would have said forget it & went back to bed. So kuddos to you!!! Good luck on finals & I hope you're feeling better :wizard:.

OMG I love him!!! He is so adorable :cloud9:. I love babies/toddlers.

How awesome that you got to meet Aartie. My kids and I watched the whole season of Next Food Network Star & we were rooting for her the whole time. It's good to hear she is also sweet in person.

You're always so busy, busy, busy Mel and like Beth said, I'm very envious of your family gatherings.

Hi ladies, how is everyone? I hope you are all doing well :) I can't keep up on this thread anymore! :( I mostly stick to FB because I'm never really home. lol.

I am so exhausted and sleepy. I thought about getting Starbucks but I don't drink coffee too often. For some reason it hurts my stomach sometimes so I just get hot chocolate at Starbucks.

Last night I worked OT and was wiped out and ended up skipping my hip hop class. :guilty:

Hey ladies - long time, no post! Life (as usual) has been crazy. Been fundraising like crazy to save after school sports and co-curriculars (stupid government un-funding :sad2:). Also just got back from Scottsdale - can you say HOT!!! 95-98 each day - could never live in the desert (sorry Beth!).

So trying to catch up -

Beth - you will love 40!! And yeah for summer exchange! I will go over to the thread! :cool1: And of course you must do the scavy hunt!!

Jen & Kathy - congrats on your races! And Kathy, hope your hip is better.

Steph - hope they can redo the procedure soon!

Kelly - sorry for the school drama, this things mean a lot to the kids. :sad2:

Wendy - hope you feel better soon.

Andrea, Stacie, Jane, Cheryl (and anyone else I missed) - congrats on Star Tours AP preview!:woohoo:

Patty - sorry to hear about your health problems - hope you get a transplant soon.

Jodi - Big hello to my teammate!! Maybe we can fit in some "studs"!!:rotfl2:

Hope everyone is doing well!! Of to Rhode Island this weekend for family graduations - rain is forecast every day! At least they are indoors.

Afternoon everyone!

Mel it is great to see you and you look gorgeous as always!! Love the pic of your girls and little Luca!! What a little doll!! I agree with Beth you always seem to have so much fun and I too am envious of all your family gatherings. My dad is one of 9 kids and we used to do a lot of fun family stuff but now that "my" generation is grown and has kids of their own everyone has kind of scattered to the winds and the older generation has kind of died off and no one wants to do it anymore. :( It is really sad because I miss those days and feel bad for my girls that they don't have those same family experiences with the cousins and such that I so enjoyed as a kid. You are so very lucky to have such a wonderful family and you are such a great person. Would love to have you as a mom/grandma!! ;)

Bridget it is good to see you!! You are just a busy little bee! Have a great time in RI!

I ran out for a quick lunch at the mall with mom and almost got blown away LOL. I sure hope the kids did ok walking in this mess LOL. I didn't even want to walk to my car in this. Still not sure if we will have swim tonight. They don't cancel for rain but only lightening and so far we don't have any. We got an email from our coach though and the olympic guy might not come now due to the weather so I hope that doesn't happen cuz I would be so bummed for the girls. Guess we will just have to wait and see.

Anywho I am just waiting to go pick them up and will be glad to be in for the night! I feel like we skipped the summer and it is back to fall again LOL.

Have a good afternoon/evening all!!

Hi Diva's

Want to wish Beth a Happy Big 4-0. It just gets better from now on. :)

Steph, Goods thoughts are being sent to you.

To all the races --Congrats!!!! not sure I could even ride a bike that far. Ny hat is off to you all.

Diva in waiting Patty

Jen-You are amazing with all the runs you compete in. I wish I had 1/100 of the energy (and ability) you do.
You could do it too! Come on down in July and run the Davis Moonlight Half with Wendy and I!

We started up at the end of summer last year & communicated mostly thru FB.....not sure who will head up our team this time with Katie moving on, but you'll be messaged when we get started!!
Thank you :)

Me too!! I can't wait to hear the theme. popcorn::
I am thinking Zombie Princess'....
Steph~ Jen & Kathy~ Congrats on finishing your 1/2 Marathons. You inspire me, but not enough to actually run one ;)
Thanks! And I agree with you (and Mr. Incredible too). As a mom I do not want to turn every year into a huge deal. There are a few traditional milestones to celebrate and the rest is just life....IMHO :goodvibes
Us Scavy people have been hard at work since right after the last trip.:rolleyes1
Is this a challenge?! hahaha

So I officially teach 1 more class period, 1 review period, then finals. Then we come back the following week for two days of class parties, graduation, then 2 days of me prepping my class for summer vacation and then - SUMMER VACATION!!! :woohoo: I talked to the principal today and it is looking really good for me to teach ASL 3 next year as well, but the music teacher accidently let it slip that my class is becoming the music room next year. Not sure where I will be put in that case, but I know it will all work out.

I am meeting my son's dad for mediation on Friday. He called last Friday when he got out of jail and I filled him in on the situation with custody and what not. He sounded like he wanted to cry and asked to have our son call him that night. I have tried several times to get them on the phone with each other, but my ex always has some excuse as to why he can't talk. Guess our son is not as important to him as I thought :confused3 Anyways, off to bed now....have a great Hump Day!

Kelly, The changes coming up for your daughter are going to be many and then losing a grow year in elementary school will show that first year in middle school. Not sure how the middle schools are there but here funny how issues with some kids start to show up. Losing the close knit feeling of having one teacher all day will be lost in middle school. 6 to 7 classes with 6-7 different teachers is going to be a big change. I know having school start an hour earlier then elementary might be issue for some. Kelly you sound like a very good mom that stands up for kids and stands with them.

This same thing was going to happen to my daughters school, but with parents involvement the 6th grade to middle school happened over 2 years so parents could plan for change.

I know I should have given my thoughts earlier on this matter. But I was enjoying DL. Kelly your daughter will be disappointed you just have to help her through this. Having disappointments does not make us better or stronger maybe it is the way we handle the matter that make us stronger?

No Flames Please-- This is only my opinion

I almost forget note toTinkermel. "I want to live in your backyard." I promise not to splash pool water. I can make new and fun BBQ foods for your guests. With toss away plates and glasses clean up will be easy. Not very good at yard work these days but let me lie to you and say I will do yard work for you. I am feeling this happening ok I can dream. But sitting by pool on a warm summer evening with a gentle breeze that keeps me from getting to hot, drinking fun iced drinks that are not complete without one of those cute little paper umbrellas, reading what I call a pool-read --- is so not gonna happen I know but but but -- OK it is not gonna happen. Was worth a try. We always had daughters friends at our house. I miss that now. Grand kids think this is their home to so there is a chance _big chance-my home will be busy like before. No pool here- weather not very good for that but we have always had a pool table.

Patty

Good morning, ladies... Just a quickie from me today!

Hi Diva's

Want to wish Beth a Happy Big 4-0. It just gets better from now on. :)

Thanks, but my birthday isn't until October. ;) But I'll take your Happy Birthday wish now! Might as well make it a year long birthday celebration just like Disney does. :rotfl2:

I am thinking Zombie Princess'....
:thumbsup2

Sorry about the issues with your ex. Hang in there.

Ummm, I'm sure there was more I wanted to say, but I am sleepy today and therefore can't remember a darn thing. Oh well, have a great day everyone!!
Oh, and Bridget, have safe travels this weekend! Hope the rain isn't too bad.

Patty, what part of the PNW do you live in? I think I might have asked this before, but again, being sleepy my brain is refusing to function properly at the moment. LOL
Just curious because I am thinking of a family trip up there one day. :)

Good morning ladies!

Bridget, Have a fun time in Rhode Island. :cool1: You can take the rain from California with you! :headache: LOL... Did you run your hunky fireman/Tiffany's race yet?

Pix, It's good to see you around here! :goodvibes

Jodi, How are you? :goodvibes

Jen, I hope you get to teach again next year. The principle sounds promising. :thumbsup2
So sorry to hear about your ex and the way he is treating your son.:sad2: Big hugs to you and your son.

Kelly, I know it's hard to get together with families, especially if some of them move away. As everyone gets older, and has their own children, it gets even harder! I am just fortunate that all of my children still live near by, and they actually want to be here. Tulare certainly is not the grandest place to live that is for sure. LOL! I am also fortunate to have very good friends of 30 plus years. We met at church. Most of us did not have our parents or siblings here to help out with our children as we were raising them. So, we became the aunties and uncles to other's kids. We leaned on each other for help and baby sitting. Whenever someone had no place to go for a Holiday, they were invited to join one of our family's. We had a term for that called "Orphaned for that Holiday." LOL! I even learned how to give insulin shots to one of the kids, so my friend and her DH could get a little get away at times. Scared me to death, but I did it. These are my same friends that go to Frisco every year for our annual Christmas shopping trip. This weekend the aunties are giving a shower for one of the girls. Even though most of the kids are all grown up, they still call me Auntie Mel. :goodvibes I am so thankful that I had that support and friendship during those years. Still thankful for it now!
If you want to get together with some of your family members, you and your mom should try to plan a family reunion. :cool1: Maybe some of your long lost aunts, uncles and cousins will show up! :grouphug:

Well once again, this has taken me so long to type and post, that I just saw Patty's when I previewed mine. :goodvibes
Thankyou for your kind message. I wish you could join me by the pool too. With a nice cool umbrella drink, and a good book that has no substance. LOL!! It does get hot here you know. Extremely hot! :faint: That is why probably half of the homes here have pools.
Anywhos, it sounds like your grandbabies love to come to your house. That is definitely a good thing! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Maybe I should plan on a Diva reunion here next year. My house is small and not grand, but my yard can certainly hold a bunch of people. Bring your families! We could set up volleyball, horseshoes, bocce ball, and the dirt track out back. Go swimming, and Dave could put out a piece of heavy duty plastic for a huge "slip and slide!" He could BBQ his prize winning brisket and ribs! :woohoo:
We'd have to pray for NO FLIES!!!!! Remember I told you about them? They are the curse of country living. Especially when there is a dairy across the way. GRRR!:mad::mad::mad:

Well, just a thought....

Well I think I read a post wrong-- ok HAPPY UN-BIRTHDAY TO BETH---. I need to quit scanning posts fast to try and catch up from being gone. I must remember October is the month. So don't want you to celebrate to long.

We live in the south west corner of Washington State. It is heaven July-Oct but gloom and doom rest of year. You know a person is from Washington if it is raining and all others have umbrellas but one person-- that is the one from WA.

I only want to move in late fall-winter- and early spring. Sun shine is nice. No humidity here. Best of all no poison beast such as snakes, spiders, and so on. No alligators -- now that is a plus for me. No hurricanes, no tornados to speak of. No huge winter snow and ice storms --well I guess there have been years we got mega snow and it did not warm up for 2-3 weeks.

I love Las Vegas but not in summer-- 120 is way to hot for me.

I am so sorry you asked just an easy question and I wrote an essay. I think I need to go do laundry, dishes, something as I appear to have to much time on my hands.

Wanted to say I hope your trip to San Diego was all you wanted it to be. I have only been there once. We stayed on mission bay ( I think that was name) and had a wonderful time.

Diva in waiting Patty

Ha Ha, Mel I say we -- we as in anyone but me-- milk the cows, stealing the cream for ice cream making. Might be nice having a dairy so close flies or not. You are so cute -- that is what we did -- big blue tarp-- let hose run on it -- best slip and slide ever. We have a grade to the back yard so we have hooked 3 of those length wise-- it was almost to long-- almost :). I am going to try to make BBQ brisket as soon as the price goes down from 6 dollars pound to 3 or so. I think we need a Brisket reciepe sharing moment. Your husband shares his and I try to make it :).

Since our neighbor was/is --she passed away last year :( -- Hawaiian she was auntie lei from day one. Daughter took Hawaiian culture and dance for 10 years so ended up with lots of Aunties.

My husband has friends that, like you, have been close for years. He has always been uncle to 4 family's, but then again 63+ years of friendships does have it's perks. One family named 2nd son after my husband.

Miss Pin-up, It always breaks my heart when I see a parents actions effect their child in a negative matter. You are being very understanding and kind in this matter. In so many ways it is so right to treat husbands issues as a sickness which it is. I am sorry there is not a pill to take to cure him. Your actions will surely make a very happy well adjusted child. Just keep on Keeping on.

Hope teaching next year works out. You sound just like a teacher I would have loved having.

Now to do laundry:laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: :laundy: That is for how many loads i might need to do. I am such a slacker.

Have wonderful days-- Diva in waiting Me

Good afternoon ladies!

We're having a beautiful, warm day here today which is a very welcome break from the rain. The kids have a half day and I don't work until 5 so it's a lazy day around here. Brad and I went into Vancouver last night to see Kid Rock and had a great time. Definitely good people watching:) Tomorrow we're going to Seattle to see Mary Poppins.

I've been seriously addicted to this website www.pinterest.com basically it's a bulletin board where people post pictures they love. There's recipes, home decorating ideas and tons of crafts. I remember seeing Jen's wreaths she made not long ago and thought of her when I saw this wreath

Just tell me when and where, you know I'll be there!! Miss talking to you!!!
