Good afternoon ladies! Wow, it's been a while since I've been able to read or post.

I hear you Andrea! Last week (and this week so far) sucked work-wise. ALL of our 1,000+ PCs got hammered by a bunch of nasty worms/viruses. :scared1: We made the local newspapers and the regional radio & TV news: Computer worm shuts down county computers. I'm in IT, so I've been working loooong hours everyday trying to get us up and running again. Over 70 hrs last week alone. Ugh!

Public Service Announcement: Keep your anti-virus software up to date and do not click on links that you don't know and trust!
Kathy, that is scary! I have a Mac which is supposed to be virus free, but you never know. Is everything back to normal? BTW- Did you get my PM for the pics? No worries, cuz you have been EXTRA busy!

Trudi- Yikes! That is not a good pic of me :scared1: lol. It rained earlier in the morning and it turned my hair frizzy. :P It was good seeing you you and Sarah yesterday :)

I just saw them for about 5 minutes and had to go but it was cool that they were closeby to where I was :)

Rochelle, you call that frizz? LOL! You should see mine when the weather is not even damp. :rotfl:

We'll be doing 3 days at Sea World, 1 day at the Wild Animal park, and then some little things like museums, Point Loma, etc. Should be fun!!
Glad to hear you had a fun Easter. :)
Nice!! :goodvibes I'm not sure, but I think you can take a free boat ride from the Bahia to the Catamaran. :cool1:

Wow everybody was chatty today!

I loved Sonny & Cher and I have several episodes of the World of Disney on DVD because they held such good memories for me!
I watched Dukes of Hazzard and Love, love, LOVED the Krofftt Super hour (squigman the seamonster or land of the lost anyone?) My secret crush was Grizzly Adams though, lol.

Loved Sid & Marty Kroft! I own every episode of HR Puffenstuff & Sigmund the sea monster and A couple of complete saturday morning lineup DVDs wanted Land of the Lost but that stupid Will Farrel movie drove the prices way up!

Good morning!

Hope everyone had wonderful Easter!

Came home, and made hummus, pita chips and roasted red bell peppers. Yum!

Sherri, Your granddaughters are adorable. I'm sure you miss them.

Next time add some of those roasted red peppers to the Hummus that is my favorite hummus recipe mmmmm!

I do miss them but right after Disneyland in October I get to spend 10 days in AZ and no day care for the girls they get to hang out with us and go to the zoo etc

So now that I figured out how to post pics again, thought I'd share some of my family and garden.

Here is some pics taken a couple of weeks ago.

This is our pond that we built years ago. Decided after all these years, to put some more grass in up to it.

Here is picture of my son Derrick and grandson Aston in front of the dirt track that was made for the birthday party.

One of our shop cleared out for the party.

This is Kaitlyn, Rowen, Aston and Reese having a picnic the other day. The kid's new puppy Dash is in Kaitlyn's arms. He is a Weimaraner puppy. So cute!

IMG_2651.jpg

Ok, that should do it for now. See what happens when someone re-learns a new trick. LOL!

Oh how I wish my flowers looked like that right now! But I do have some bulbs with buds and my lilacs might pop by Mothers day. Your yard is gorgeous!

Bridget, My DD Becky and SIL Nick have a Rodesian Ridgeback puppy! (Excuse the spelling?)

We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback (you only missed it by 1 letter) for years one of the best dogs we ever had! Except they stay puppyish until they are very old and very big!

Oh, my gosh Mel, How on earth do you keep your lawn, garden , and pond so manicured? I used to have a nice lawn and flowers in the flower beds all year round :(. When I got sick Daughter did the right thing and put red rock in for me. Now I just have planters :(. I did mine with a german theme. Red geraniums, yellow meri-golds, and purple crystal palace. Hanging plants play a major role in my summer gardening now to.

Mel you must have a huge area to make a dirt track. I bet you are the favorite mom on the block. :) But again your yard is beautiful. Wish I could borrow it for life :).

Kelly, I am so lucky I get migraines but no pain. just the lightening light flashes in eyes, so seeing gets to be issue. Some times I get sick tummy also. Well two times I did have pain -- had to have husband press as hard as he could on the side of my head. That helped but didn't get rid of pain so had to go to hospital for shot :(. I do know what you go through and having migraines as much as you do I feel so sorry for you. Wish I had some ideas I could share so you did not get them.

Lights trigger mine If I look outside to bight lights from a dark room that will start it. Also a flickering floresent light those are the only two triggers I know for mine.

Hope some day it gets better for you.

Thinking of you
Patty

We had a great easter with lots of friends. Egg hunts for both the young and older kids. One of my friends made a great cocktail - Pimm's Cup - said with a British accent!
Sounds like a good time was had by all! :thumbsup2

Beth, You should look at the Snore & Roar for the night before the Wild Animal Park it is a BLAST! Worth every penny..
Oh? I think I've heard of that before....you can spend the night in the park? I'll check it out, even though our budget is already being stretched thin. LOL I'm still always looking for more fun ideas!
ETA: I looked into it and couldn't find any dates for when we are there. :confused3 But I did some other pricing and even using the cheapest figures, for my family of 6 it would be around $800. :scared1: Way out of my price range. I just need to win the lotto first. lol

And LOL--when I read the last sentence I thought you wrote the dogs chased and (next word but with two O's) and I thought "so the dogs were eating the bubbles and then it came out the other end?" Then I re-read it . . . .
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

So now that I figured out how to post pics again, thought I'd share some of my family and garden.
Wow!! Mel, those are amazing!!! Thanks for sharing. I love seeing family pics so anytime you feel like posting, please do!

If I don't feel better soon though I am going to have to make another apt with my neuro I think.
Aw, that stinks Kelly. I'm sorry. I hope you feel better and if you do end up going to the neuro, I hope they are able to help.

Nice!! :goodvibes I'm not sure, but I think you can take a free boat ride from the Bahia to the Catamaran. :cool1:
From where to where?? :rotfl: I'll have to Google that. Are those hotels? Thanks for the tip though. Free is a good thing! :thumbsup2
ETA: I did a search and you have to be a guest for it to be free. Other wise it would run us $46. Darn. Oh well. Thanks anyway!!

I am collecting Vinylmation now!!
I bought a few on eBay. The first one arrived today...

I will be getting two more soon...

Warning, rant ahead:

So, I am seriously annoyed right now. I decided to go online to check the weather for our trip which is one week from today, and try to get an idea of what the temps will be while we are there.

One website has Sunday, May 1st in San Diego as being a high of 76, which is pretty warm, close to 80 even.
Another website has Sunday, May 1st in San Diego as being a high of 63, which is actually kind of chilly.

I was like WTH???? A difference of 13 degrees posted for the same day??? How on earth is anyone supposed to plan on what to wear/pack????? Ugh. Anyway, that is just a real pet peeve of mine. I don't expect weather forecasting to be an exact science, but this is just stupid.

Okay, I feel better now. :teeth:

There can be a 13 degree difference from one side of San Diego to the other. DH worked down at Point Loma, lived over by Sea World. The temp at the Naval base was often 10 degrees lower than it was inland, especially in the summer. I suggest doing a weather search by the zip code of where you will be staying. Here's San Diego- Downtown. You can click on the map to see how the forecast changes when you get closer to the water. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...GX&textField1=32.7153&textField2=-117.156&e=1

Lisa, Being from Sacramento, you would know where I live.:) Do you usually take the the 5 or 99 down south? How is Trish? Tell her to come and chat some time. :thumbsup2

Depends on where I'm headed. If Yosemite is the target, I might go down 99, but I usually prefer I-5 since the speed limit is higher.... zoom zoom....

I had lunch with Trish a couple weeks ago. I'm sure she and Michael are off somewhere for spring break. LOL

We'll be doing 3 days at Sea World, 1 day at the Wild Animal park, and then some little things like museums, Point Loma, etc. Should be fun!!
Glad to hear you had a fun Easter. :)

Bring a light jacket for Point Loma. If it's breezy, it gets darned chilly.

Has anyone in the SD area done this:
http://www.sealtours.com/index.asp

I think my kids would love it!

Beth - I booked this tour for four of us and then when the time came Chris had chemo and we couldn't go. I swear I have two "credits" for it somewhere. Let me look through my junk basket and try to find them. Bree & Cat went without us and said it was a lot of fun. If I can find the credits I will send them to you. I agree that it looks like a blast - heck - that's why I booked it!

Morning all!!

Gosh Beth you are getting some great suggestions. That overnighter sounds fun but I agree I don't think I could afford it either :( I am sure you guys will find lots of fun things though!!

Patty thanks for the thoughts! I unfortunately am one of those lucky people that have just about every trigger known to man LOL. I think I am just VERY sensitive to headaches and pretty much everything sets me off. There are many food triggers that bother me and it's hard because of course they are things that I LOVE like chocolate and strong cheese etc. And then of course if I don't eat at frequent intervals and let myself get too hungry, overtired, if I sleep wrong etc. Plus I have found recently that the weather affects me. Barometric changes such as wind rain and esp the allergies. I take several different pills as preventatives and those do help and my migraines have not been nearly as severe BUT I get spells like now and it stinks when they last a long time. These are "managable" in that they are not the excrutiating ones where I can't move but they are still bad enough that I can't get comfortable and sleep well or just do much and since my neuro didn't give me any "good" meds I am relying on my excedrin migraine and at this point it isn't doing much. I have had MANY different migraine meds in the past but I recently switched docs and the med he prescribed me was an injectible that my insurance didn't cover so I called and told him to represcribe a pill and he never did it. My headaches weren't bad at that point so I didn't pursue it but now I think I am going to have to. It would be different if his office were easy but he and his wife (who is his secretary) are foreign and don't speak very good english and I don't know if they just don't get it or what. I had my pharmacist call and I called but they NEVER represcribed the pills and I just hope it is not an issue!!! I don't know if you were on back in Feb but I had a big blowout with my old primary doc over my daughter and I switched primaries and then he referred me to this neuro for my headaches and now this! So I am reluctant to go back as you can see LOL. Have NOT been having much luck with doctors!! ;)

Anyway unfortunately I STILL have it and didn't get any sleep again last night and I am seriously torn as to what to do. I have my annual with my OB tomorrow on top of it so I really didn't feel like going to two docs in two days LOL but it may come to that. And then Shane got some paperwork for a new job and I am a bit skeptical about that. He is supposedly going to be doing some tile work for the IRS but they want to do this huge background check on him and wanted to know ALL this personal info. REALLY in depth like how long we lived in our home and where he went to school and that seemed weird enough to me but then he said they wanted all this info on ME including my social and stuff and I felt that was a little off! I mean it is not like HE is working for the IRS he is only tiling the floor for god's sake. I told him this seemed strange to me and I questioned it. I mean he needs work but I don't like just spewing all my personal info like that. Does anyone know if that sounds right to them?? Esp ME having to give MY info for HIM to do a job tiling a floor???? I just don't like giving it out with all the leaks of info and identity theft and on and on. I would be curious if anyone knows if that sounds kosher!

Anyway don't know WHAT I am doing yet today. If I am going to try to go to work or to the doc or what. But I hope everyone else has a good day and take care!!

Lisa--I love that smiley!

We had fun yesterday too--Linda came and we got together with my friends Brandy and Scott and some of their family at a restaurant for brunch, then we went back to Brandy's for an Easter Egg Treasure Hunt. Prizes were money ($.25, $1.00, $5.00), food (trail mix bars, candy, peeps, bags of candy, etc), 12-packs of soda, a case of water, a kite, a book and some other things. We had fun! (although my book got taken away--boo--if you found a silver or gold egg you could "steal")

That sounds like a fun hunt! I need to store this idea away. What book did they steal from you?

Mel~ Your garden is so pretty!!! We are tearing our yard out this spring. I think I should hire you to help me plan the new look :cutie:

The boys head back to school today - my school started back yesterday, but they are on SAT week. Apparently that means no homework, but no one told me. I went to assign some yesterday and there was quite the uproar! I warned them that they would have to do it Friday though hehehe

Last Thursday I met a woman at church who has some connections at DL - she is going to see what she can do to get me in the DL half. I am praying this works! My last option is work with a charity and raise money to go, but with this economy that would be really hard.

Well ladies, enjoy your day! The hubby and I are headed to the gym!

And LOL--when I read the last sentence I thought you wrote the dogs chased and (next word but with two O's) and I thought "so the dogs were eating the bubbles and then it came out the other end?" Then I re-read it . . . .

The visual on that is quite hysterical!!!

So now that I figured out how to post pics again, thought I'd share some of my family and garden.

Here is some pics taken a couple of weeks ago.

Wow - Just beautiful!! Want to come do my backyard! ;)

He is a Weimaraner puppy. So cute!

Cute Weim - a couple of friends I walk with have weimaraners - really sweet dogs!

I ended up not going in to work today. I have had a nasty headache for about a week now and I was up most of the night with it so I just couldn't deal with work today.!

So sorry to hear that - hope you get better!

Kathy, that is scary! I have a Mac which is supposed to be virus free, but you never know.

We are a completely MAC family - desktops, laptops, iPhones, iPods and love not having to worry about viruses! And I am so excited - my new iPad 2 shipped yesterday!

Loved Sid & Marty Kroft! I own every episode of HR Puffenstuff & Sigmund the sea monster and A couple of complete saturday morning lineup DVDs wanted Land of the Lost but that stupid Will Farrel movie drove the prices way up!

H.R. Pufnstuf,
Who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf
Can't do a little cause he can't do enough.

I had the biggest crush on Jack Wild!!

I am collecting Vinylmation now!!
I bought a few on eBay. The first one arrived today...

Uh oh... another way to spend money on Disney!! Have fun collecting!

Crows are nasty cannibals. They love eggs and baby birds.

Yuck - knew I didn't like crows for a reason!

I just don't like giving it out with all the leaks of info and identity theft and on and on. I would be curious if anyone knows if that sounds kosher!

That really does sound like something that the government, specially the IRS, would ask of someone. They have very strict and strange rules on employment and it doesn't matter what type of job you are going to do with them. It is a PITA but does sound like something the IRS would ask for. Good luck!

Morning all! Yesterday ended up not being my Friday. I worked last night after all. Now I just have one night off and then back to work for 2 more. Good news is extra $$ which is basically already spent. Bad news it was a rough night and added with it being an extra shift I am exhausted!!

Kelly! Sorry to hear about your migraines! I get them too but find if I eat right they decrease. Eat like crap and feel like crap! Also if I don't get enough sleep then I am likely to get them!

Next time add some of those roasted red peppers to the Hummus that is my favorite hummus recipe mmmmm!

"]I thought about doing that, and then decided to just serve them along the side. The recipe I used was from Paula Deen. You roast the peppers, peel and then add olive oil, garlic, fresh basil salt and pepper. They are delish.

I do miss them but right after Disneyland in October I get to spend 10 days in AZ and no day care for the girls they get to hang out with us and go to the zoo etc

I bet you can't wait!

Oh how I wish my flowers looked like that right now! But I do have some bulbs with buds and my lilacs might pop by Mothers day. Your yard is gorgeous!

Thankyou! I spend far too much money sometimes. If I see something new, I will buy it, not even knowing where it will end up.

We had a Rhodesian Ridgeback (you only missed it by 1 letter) for years one of the best dogs we ever had! Except they stay puppyish until they are very old and very big!
Thanks for the correct spelling. :thumbsup2 I've heard they are supposed to be great dogs. :goodvibes

Wow!! Mel, those are amazing!!! Thanks for sharing. I love seeing family pics so anytime you feel like posting, please do!

Aw..thanks Beth!

From where to where?? :rotfl: I'll have to Google that. Are those hotels? Thanks for the tip though. Free is a good thing! :thumbsup2

Oh well...it was worth a try.

Yes I-5 is quite faster to be sure. :thumbsup2

The visual on that is quite hysterical!!!

LOL!

Wow - Just beautiful!! Want to come do my backyard! ;)

Thankyou! I have helped others at times, what to pick and where to put them. But nothing is full proof...I've had my share of plants dying on me too. Or have planted something that outgrew the spot and so forth. If that happens I pull it out and transplant. If it dies...oh well...at least I tried. :rolleyes1 When I want to transplant, I usually need help from Dave. You should see his face when I ask. He will more than likely try to dissapear, talk me out of it, or just plain complain. But in the end he will grudgingly do it. Geesh!

Cute Weim - a couple of friends I walk with have weimaraners - really sweet dogs!

We have had Weims for years. This will be the forth one now.
:cloud9:

We are a completely MAC family - desktops, laptops, iPhones, iPods and love not having to worry about viruses! And I am so excited - my new iPad 2 shipped yesterday!

My son Derrick talked me into it. They really aren't as hard as you are led to believe!

H.R. Pufnstuf,
Who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf
Can't do a little cause he can't do enough.

I had the biggest crush on Jack Wild!!
Too funny! Me too! :rotfl:

Kelly, I believe all these questions are extremely normal. You never know....Shane could place a bomb while laying the tile. LOL..you know I am just kidding, but the government doesn't know that.

Beth - I found my two tickets and they are expired. I am so sorry. :guilty:
It was a fun excursion. Your kids would love it.

Happy Tuesday to Everyone!:)

Hello, ladies!!! Happy Tuesday to you all!! :sunny:
Hope you all have a great day.

I am collecting Vinylmation now!!
Another one hooked!! :rotfl:

You can click on the map to see how the forecast changes when you get closer to the water. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...GX&textField1=32.7153&textField2=-117.156&e=1
Thanks, Lisa! I appreciate the info. It does make planning a bit more challenging, but I'll bring a light jacket everywhere we go, and we should be fine. :)

Does anyone know if that sounds right to them?? Esp ME having to give MY info for HIM to do a job tiling a floor???? I just don't like giving it out with all the leaks of info and identity theft and on and on. I would be curious if anyone knows if that sounds kosher!
It sounds odd to me, but apparently from reading the other posts it's not uncommon. I guess it's the norm. :confused3 Hope it works out for Shane, and I really hope you are able to find some relief from your headaches.

Last Thursday I met a woman at church who has some connections at DL - she is going to see what she can do to get me in the DL half. I am praying this works! My last option is work with a charity and raise money to go, but with this economy that would be really hard.
Oooh, I'll say a prayer too that it works out for you! That would be great.

Morning all! Yesterday ended up not being my Friday. I worked last night after all. Now I just have one night off and then back to work for 2 more. Good news is extra $$ which is basically already spent. Bad news it was a rough night and added with it being an extra shift I am exhausted!!
Ugh, how do you do it?? Hope you can get some rest soon.

Oh well...it was worth a try.
Oh definitely. I'm always looking into fun ideas, you never know which ones will turn out to be great. :thumbsup2

Beth - I found my two tickets and they are expired. I am so sorry. :guilty:
It was a fun excursion. Your kids would love it.
No worries, I appreciate you thinking of me and taking the time to look. I'm glad to hear Bree and her friend liked it. I am really going to try to book it. It's not cheap so we might have to cut something else out, but I think it will be worth it for such a unique experience. :)

Kelmac, Was this a job he found at his union? Sounds a bit strange to me. I needed to get a back ground check for my license in the business I owned. That was done with finger printing match via FBI and back ground also through the FBI. My business/work did and still does require the back ground checks-- and it should. I might check into the IRS job info a bit, but you never know in this day and age. The IRS is so big I wonder why they do not hire a company to do back ground work?

One more thing, The IRS already knows the information they are requesting. That is mostly all included on your returns. They can figure out how long you have lived where you do by looking at past returns. No rocket scientist required. :).

Just my opinion.

Patty
