Hi all! We have done the tent thing at FW for nearly two weeks before, and we loved it. Our kids were 6 and 3, and while the 6 year old has an anxiety disorder and is on the autism spectrum, she did remarkably well. Something about waking up and being outdoors is very relaxing to her.

We have a 1 year old now though, and we've realized that he is a really active baby who doesn't always sleep through the night. We finally decided it would be best at his age to be in a cabin. We'll do the tent thing again in a few years.

We ADORE Cottontail Curl and would like a similar cabin loop. Cottontail Curl was SO pretty (we were in one of the outside sites by the creek with a grapefruit tree next to our picnic table.) It was also very close to a bus stop and a comfort station. Because of our oldest's issues, we found these things to be incredibly important.

So we are looking for a cabin loop that is close to a bus stop and close to the Meadows area. (Maybe within walking distance?) We could also live with either end of the Fort. If I were to ask for a cherry on top, it would be a more wooded/scenic area. (I realize I'm getting picky with that request.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 2200 loop would put you at the closer end of the cabin section, but the bus stops seem to be kinda far in between. And unless you're at the back of the 2200 loop, you're probably not going to be that close to the Meadows, then really far from the bus stop.

Actually a tent in the 1500 loop would be your best request. As some of the other good location loops have turned into premium sites that are not cool with tents. Is there any reason why a tent would not be that great for a baby?? I don't have a kid, so I can't go off experience.

You could also look into renting one of the travel trailers some of the DIS members rent out. It'll give you those solid four walls, and you could request the 900 loop, which is my absolute favorite. Small enough, you're not far from the comfort station, bus stop, or the meadows, no matter where you are in the loop.

I think a tent is fine for the baby, but OP not getting a full night's rest because of a baby not sleeping through the night.......??? Mama needs a tiny bit more comfort!

I've never done the tent thing. I'm weak and pathetic. Since we are in between MH's, we are doing the cabin thing now. And, I have a 1 year old and he's sleeping through the night and I couldn't even begin to consider doing the tent if he wasn't. We always rent a GC, so we take whatever loop we're given. We stayed in 2200 last time and I thought there was a bus stop just across from that loop, but maybe it's not so close.

We are also going to try one of the Dis members trailer options in March for our Spring Break week. It's beautiful. www.campatthefort.com and www.makecampingeasy.com I've seen pics and the Wildcat 5th wheel is beautiful.

I think you might like 2300, it's probably close enough for you to walk to the Meadows and it also backs up to a creek. You can add the 'close to the bus stop' request to your reservation and they will do their best to accomodate that.
But I agree with pp - if you really want a site closer to what you enjoyed before, you might think about renting.
Have fun!

I find tent camping better than sleeping in my own bedroom. I've got the lovely outdoors, sleeping under the stars, practically on my own bed... plus the AC.

Some of the biggest problems with tent camping was sleeping, and they've come a long long way in creating extremely comfortable beds. And there's other alternatives too, depending on your storage area for transport.
Of course Disney lets you live it up, with beyond exceptional amenities.

I don't know what time of year you plan on this trip, but I wouldn't chance it in the winter time with a baby. It could get too cold. But the summer would be fine with an AC.

I think 2100, 2200, or 2300 would be your best bet. The bus stop is at the entrance to 2200, and across the street from 2300. I walked from the Meadow complex back to my cabin in 2200 and it took less than 15 minutes (I'd just missed a bus, and didn't want to wait. I beat the next bus by a good 10 minutes). My only request is always "close transportation" and I was near the entrance of 2200. I've also been near the entrance of 2400, and there is a bus stop by that loop also, but it would be a farther walk to the Meadow from there. 2100 shares the bus stop with 2200 and 2300, and you have to cross a larger, busier road to get there, but it is the closest cabin loop to the Meadow, and backs up to the 1100 RV loop.
