when we were checking in to our favorite place-our home away from home-BWV - there was an irrate customer next to us checking in and giving the CM the hardest time, i felt so bad for her and it kinda put a damper on our excitement of checking in. why do other people have to be so loud and obnoxious? one note to the CM SECURITY GUARD at the gate, i dont know his name but really irritated us. he needed to see identification every time we drove thru , i thought if you have a parking tag on your windshield you dont need to go thru all that crap...and there was NO WELCOME HOME from him..my kids said he didnt have the disney magic and they were right!

Wasn't the key entrance to the parking lot working (on the right)? He may have been doing that to you because you weren't using it (not that it's an excuse).

Our trip to OKW last month, every time we drove in they asked to see ID. DH always showed my ID (thumb over picture) and room key. Not a big deal, and we always got a Welcome Home.

Thumb over picture :confused3

This must be a new policy. We have never had to show ID with the parking permit.

Instead of trying to dig out his ID, he would just grab mine and either keep his thumb over the picture or tuck the picture behind the member id card.

One night the security guard wasn't willing to accept my ID and he had to dig for his since he was driving. After that, he just sort of hid the picture so he didn't have to do the fanny wriggling, wallet digging move in the rental car.

OK about the picture, I understand, but it seems strange to me to try to "Fool" the security guard. On the other hand, I don't know why yours wouldn't suffice. That seems to be a strange rule as well.

When we arrived at OKW the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend, we were told by the first security guard at the entrance that we would have to show a valid room key & a photo ID every time we entered a WDW resort. Also, the CM at check-in reiterated that information.

I had out my room key & my driver's license each time we entered a WDW resort. Several times the guard physically took them, looked at both, looked at me to be sure & even made a friendly comment about where we were from. I think it is becoming SOP at WDW, so don't be upset with the messenger - the guards at the gate.

Sounds reassuringly secure to me... :)

As you approach the gatehouse at BWV the right-hand lane allows you to insert your room key into a standard key slot to open the swing arm. No interaction with the guard necessary. (I'm assuming this is what DebbieB is referring to...)

we didnt mind the security ,it was his GRUMPINESS..and after a few times we did start to use the key entrance on the right.

Spent last week at VWL and they never asked for ID once we had a parking pass. We drove over to BWV and BCV as well and were just waved through.
