Does anyone know if they sell distilled water in the resorts? My DH and I both have c-pap's and need distilled water for the humidifiers on them. WOuld it hurt the machine to use regular (bottled or tap) for the week? We have to bring our own machines.

I specifically asked this question of my respiratory therapist. The water will not have any effect at all on the machine. The only potential problem is what chemicals are in the water and the effect they will have on your lungs. He did say that basically I could use bottled water, but it would be better if it had nothing added.

Talk to your respitory team and ask if they think it would be a problem for either of you just for a week. If you must have the distilled water you can go to www.wegoshop.com They will take your order and go to a local store and get it for you and bring it to you at the resort. We have found that this is better than renting a car or taking a cab.

I use regualr tap water in mine all the time. it shouldn't hurt yours just to use it for a short time. The only problem with using tap is it causes calcium buildup in your humidifier chamber but you can just clean it more thourougly.

From what I can remember, the park does sell distilled water in some areas of the park.

Are any of your machines "rented" through insurance? I was told never to use our well water in mine despite any water softening system in place. The buildup would "void the warranty" so if a new machine was needed insurance would not cover it. This does not respond to your question regarding using the water at Disney, but the respiratory therapist recommended distilled water not only for the good of the machine but for the good of the patients in the class. You are breathing the water vapor.

Actually the RT said we may be able to do without the humidifier sometimes.

Quite a few people have posted the same thing. Because of the humidity in Florida, quite a few people have posted in the past that they did not need to add any water.

This is not plausible.

A CPAP is in two parts, the machine itself and the water tank. The output from the CPAP feeds into the water tank and the output of the water tank goes into the hose to the mask.

The worst that can happen with very hard water, at least to the equipment, is that there will be sediment or build-up in the water tank. And this can be very easily cleaned out by opening the water tank and rinsing with a solution of water with some vinegar in it.

However, you probably do not want to breathe the air that had been humidified with hard water.
