Distilled Water for Cpap Machine?

My husband has a CPAP and after using distilled water for awhile his dr said he could just use reg. water. He doesn't even notice a difference. He just takes it from the tap and off he goes to sleep.

how much will you need while you are there? can you fill a 1 liter bottle with it and put it in your checked luggage? What about trying Dasani while you are there? I think it's purified with reverse osmosis, so it's purer than tap water if you are concerned.

It has little or nothing to do with the person -- although my friend reports having some rather vivid dreams when he uses tap water in his CPAP machine. He blames the chlorine.

The distilled water prevents scale build up in the humidifier reservoir.

depending on when you are there, it might be humid enough that you won't need the humidity in the air of the machine. I don't need to use it on mine when it is really humid, just the plain air with no water.

Call me a risk taker, but I have been known to use "other than distilled" water in my CPAP machine for short periods of time when away from home. Won't kill you, and you shouldn't get much build up in a short period of time like a vacation.

It seems like I heard that you could buy it at a food court, but I could be totally wrong. I personally ordered mine from GG. I do think you could get by with tap water for a little bit, but you might have to wipe the tank out every other day or so to prevent the buildup.

I use a CPAP also, and try to use distilled. If it's not available, I'll use purified bottle water (reverse osmosis), such as Dassani, Aquafina, and Nestle Pure Life.

I'll be staying for a week, and in a week I use about a half gallon of water. That comes out to about 4 bottles of water. I plan on packing four water bottles that seal really tightly with distilled water and pack it in my checked bag suitcase. I'll put them in a plastic bag, and tie off the end, in case it leaks a little.

If there's a water disaster :scared1:, I'll just have to put any wet clothes in the dryer that night :laundy:, not a big deal, and buy Dassani. But, I'm sure the water bottles will survive (after all, shampoo and conditioner make it, and those caps aren't nearly as tight as water bottles).

My problem is that with the CPAP I like to have a white noise machine. For some reason, I have trouble sleeping when my breathing makes me sound like :darth: Any ideas what I can use for white noise? (at home I have a large fan blowing in the room that is quite loud).

The only time mine makes a terrible noise is when my mask isn't sitting on my face correctly. Lol, I also have an oxygen machine which is way louder than the cpap. I also am using a fan so needless to say our room is quite loud at night.
