Distance from Disney to Universal?

We'll be traveling from a couple of days at the Portofino Bay Resort to a week at Port Orleans Riverside. Can anyone tell me about how long of a trip this is and are there any quieter routes than taking the interstate {I-4?}.

I would stick with the "main drag" because the roads and exits are all clearly marked with big signs pointing the way to Disney. I would only take back road directions if you are very familiar with the area.

Just got back from USO/IOA and had a great time. We stayed at the HRH and thought it was great.

It is about 12 miles from Universal to PO. If you do not want to take I-4, you can go out the back way at Universal to Turkey Lake Road. Take Turkey Lake south and follow it all the way down. It will turn into Palm Parkway which brings you our right to the Crossroads area. When you get to Apopka Vineland, take the left, then take the next right onto Hotel Plaza Blvd..this will bring you to DTD. Follow the signs to the hotel.
