Distance Between ATL Concourses?

It seems that historically our flight to ATL on Delta lands at a gate at Concourse D and our ATL to MCO flight departs from Concourse A. The map I have offers no scale. How far apart are these points and what are the travel options, shuttle, moving walkway or just shoe leather?

Thanks,

I must agree the maps for ATL don't make it clear just how far apart the terminals are! There is a shuttle like train service at the terminals that takes you to all the terminals.

Our flight was delayed in arriving at ATL and we came in at terminal E and had to get to terminal A which is about as far away from each other as you can get. I was nervous about getting to our flight but we made it as our plane was just starting to board...walking we would have missed our flight so the shuttle would be my suggestion for you.

Take the shuttle/train. Even if you could hoof it - which if I remember right you are travelling with an elderly person who might not make it that way - it'lll make you feel a lot better taking the train.

The train comes by each station every 2 minutes. It takes roughly 30 seconds to travel from one station to the next. I really never timed it, but I can tell you it's pretty fast.

I was just like you...worried about making the connection...being teh commando thru the airport to the train. And we went from A to E. And we weren't exactly in the middle of the terminals. We had plenty of time.

I wouldn't stress overly much...although I admit to being one of those people no matter how hard I try. Delta will wait for you if your plane is late. There was a post about that earlier this week.

Thanks for the encouraging advice folks. The shuttle it will be. Good memory, zulaya, mom with her multiple knee replacements will be with us and I want to save her mileage for WDW.

Bill, it's still a lot of walking even with using the shuttle train. Each concourse is very long and if your gate is at the end of the concourse that alone is a hike. I just returned from a trip with my 80 year old father and requested a wheelchair for him in Atlanta. He fussed a bit about it at first but was so glad that I'd arrainged it when he saw how far it was. On the trip down a Delta employee took him in the wheelchair and I tipped him well. Coming home they were busy and since I knew the way, I just wheeled him myself. Just something to keep in mind.

I rented him an ECV scooter for the week while in WDW and he admitted that he never would've been able to do the trip without it. As it was, he never got tired and nearly had me walking my legs off!

One time in Atlanta, we were transfered between concouses by a cart. We had to take an elevator to ground level and we traveled on the tarmac! I had had knee surgery and knew I couldn't walk between the concourses. It was a real trip, literally, to drive around the luggage handlers, food carts, etc.
