Concerning the thread,
"A comment about moore's bad editing in F 9/11"
That was certainly interesting and it is clear enough what a few of the pronlems are.
First to answer the orginal question in that thread.
What would do if you had been President on 9/11.
You have all the same information bush had that day at 9:05 am when Andrew Card told bush America is under attack.
Bush sat there for an additional 7 minutes.
Now the question, What would you have done ?
Truth would have used simple logic to project that
after one plane hits it is now possible that there may be a second plane to watch out for. After the second plane hits the logical question would not be " are there more planes coming" but
1. " How many, more planes are coming "
followed closely by
2. "where are any other suspect planes at"
3. "where might they be headed besides New York "
4. "get Military Jets over New York City ASAP "
5. "Have all Military Jets scramble and take positions over all major cities starting from NYC
Now this is not certain to save the people that were killed on the ground at the Pentagon, but it seems like it's a possibility and seven minutes could have certainly been the difference on that event when the time left to act was either 36 minutes or 29 after the 7 minute sit down.
-------------------------------
As for a few of the other loose ends generated by the orginal thread.
It was never meant as a debate, it was what it was, a question to find out what, if anything other people personally think they might have done rather than sit in a chair for seven minutes.
The thread does show several reasons why so few people know many of the established facts about the events that day.
First off people seem to quickly divide up into teams as if it were some sort of sporting event.
As with the second plane being a clear signal to be on the lookout for more planes, 9/11 was the second attack in America, meaning that the failures that allowed the second attack to succeed need to be identified and corrected as soon as possible so that any more attacks have less chance.
As long as everyone divides into teams instead of following the truth where ever it leads you are more danger than neccessary. It is going to take cooperation not confrontation.
This defense/offense/debate nonsense is not productive. As a few have stated the very fact that people are seen as argueing at all makes them uncomfortable. People that are not comfy are not going to be around to hear any information. Besides going back and forth over bush leaves very little room to present new information.
Next to last, people on both sides have some valid points but both sides also have people that are not interested in what happened turning out to be anything other than what they already believe to be true, even if they can not state what that is in a few declaritive sentences. It is not anyone's fault in particular, advertising and dissonance
are the real enemys of truth here. Advertising/madison avenue/propaganda most know about and for people that can't understand why some people can be so blind when the answers are so obvious, there is dissonance.
A while back this article appeared on the screen and it does as good a job as any explaining it.

It won't stop all of it but if you read it all with an open mind it might cut down on some of the political threads here. It has always
been a source of amusement that anyone would bother posting something political here at the DIS
There are only 30 or 40 thousand DISers that ever posted here even once. If you could turn them all to your side congratulations you have just added a wopping 1000 votes to your states total at best. Now was that really worth the amount of effort you put out, was it worth it for all the discomfort it causes on the CB ? Do you really think you could possibly change more than 10 percent of that 1000 ? Well it's your exercise in futility.
All things being equal,
when you have eliminated all other possibilities, what ever is left no matter how unlikely
must be the truth
