Once again I am reminded that as a DVC member the perks are very Quickly dissolving.
We are no longer family we are just numbers to them. Especially when you have a small problem.
GRRRR frustration level at all time high with DVC right now.

:furious:

Well long story short we had a problem with a room we were given it was not a room problem but where it was located.
It was a room that was located right next to the maids storage room and the room where all deliveries are made every early morning.
About 3 years ago we got the room right next to the deilvery room on the main floor and was woken up at 4 am and the noise from this room was unbearable.
and a few weeks ago we used MANY POINTS and got assigned the same room but 2 floors up and it was next to where all the deliveries are made for that floor and where the maids push their carts into and have conversations .
ALL this very very early EVERY morning. started at 4 am and did not stop till 3 pm.
Was told could not move rooms because resort was full it was marathon weekend. But DVC membership customer service just brushed it off again.
They really dont seem to care if a member has a problem. And we are not ones to complain but being assigned to this room TWICE in 3 years is unexcusable even after I said something the first time it happened.

oh and when i talked to someone at DVC member they said they dont see a problem because the room is a room that can be used. Pretty much saying everything in the room works and is acceptable so DEAL with the noise.
I feel that my points were thrown away that weekend.

The truth is we are just a number to Disney, not just the DVC. What's important to us, isn't necessarily important to Disney. To us, it's a vacation affecting issue, to Disney it's just another day at work.

We spend a ton of money expecting a well deserved wonderful vacation.
Luck of the draw puts some of us in less desirable rooms and I guess if there isn't another room available, there's not much that you can do about it.

What really bothers me is rooms that are not cleaned or maintained properly, issues with crappy Disney websites, restrictions, management changes, and prices that are unreasonable.

I hope that you have a better experience on your next Disney vacation.

thanks for the info.... another few things to add to our purple box- sound machine and ear plugs

This is the mentality of the worst-run companies in the world. It would be very disappointing if this is Disney's position.

I agree with you that if they have a less-desirable room then when the resort is full someone will have it and they can't really do much about it. I guess ideally they would do something about the noise or provide some comp to the inconvenienced guest. At a minimum, it is a shame that any guest is made to feel that they don't matter.

As a person who sleeps with earplugs anyway (used to be because of DH's snoring and now it's because of his CPAP machine which isn't really as whisper-like as some say the machines are, LOL), I likely would have been fine with this room. THey never know who they are going to get in that room.

But are you saying that there was a time in DVC's past when they could have moved your room, in a totally sold out resort?

Who exactly did you contact while there? Have you contacted anyone since you've been home? Maybe there's some suggestion people here could make, based on the answers to those questions, that perhaps you missed?

Which resort was this?

We had to use our sound machine for the first time at OKW recently.

Buses.

OP, sorry about your frustration. Hopefully it didn't ruin your entire vacation.

What would have made you happy, where were they going to move you?

It is bad luck you got two less than desirable rooms, but someone has to have them. Not sure which resort as you did not mention but we have had the rooms next to the Housekeeping room at SSR and it never bothered us.

I am sorry this happened to you but honestly if I truly felt I was only a number to them, I would not continue to do business with them. Life is too short to have something that makes you unhappy.

My thoughts are that they serve millions of Guests and in their business there will be a known percentage of guests that will not be happy. Disney could design their resorts so that the service areas are not adjacent to guest rooms but they chose to maximize the number of rooms even if some are in less desirable areas or have poor views.

They also know sometimes when a room has a maintenance issue but they will leave the room in service. We had a bad refrigerator at BWV after a rehab and the Maintenance man told us that they knew that the unit had been reported before but they were told to wait and see if the new guest reported the problem. They know that some guests will complain about those rooms and their policy is to deal with the guest on a case by case basis. I have been told on more than one occasion at different resorts that the CM "knew that I would be back at the Front Desk trying to switch rooms because no one likes those rooms".

It's all numbers to them, a vacation to us.

I just wonder what resort the OP is talking about? I've never seen housekeeping staff out and about around the the OKW campus at 4am.

And didn't just recently add several discounts for DVC Members...like 10% shopping?

I was wondering about this too. A while back someone else was complaining about a similar situation at BWV. Apparently there is a room very near where they load and unload luggage for the airlines, to the left of the entrance. They had the misfortune to get this room twice also and both times the resort was full. Front desk acknowledged that this room was a problem but could do nothing else to accomodate them.

I will admit that the issue you discussed (noisy room) is definitely a bummer, especially since it was your second time in a similar room. However, I am not sure how this is a sign that perks are quickly dissolving. While I wasn't part of DVC in the days when park tickets were reportedly free, I currently feel that there are more perks than I could take advantage of. The new discounted PAPs are great.

Back to the room issue...If you were there during a busy time of the year when the hotel was sold out, then what could they have done for you? How does that relate to perks? As someone else said, I think the bigger bummer is that they would place a room next to a closet like that.

We specifically request those rooms adjacent housekeeping stations when visiting BWV. We love them as we are early risers ourselves and hope to protect neighbors whose headboard would otherwise back directly into ours from our early morning conversations. Those stations create a bit of privacy between guest occupied units.

:) On our May Trip 2011 we had the room on third floor at Kidani right above the Bell Services luggage storage area and next to a low roof AC unit. Never heard anything--loved the location next to the elevator. I guess I should state that DH and I both use a CPAP so we cancel each other out I guess--we both also wear headphones to sleep.

I am well versed in the Bell Service schedule now, including the arrival of the DME luggage truck from MCO. Our one time we had an issue with noise at a Disney resort was at Pop...two children next door were terrified of Mom fixin' their hair at 6a.m. The screaming was so excessive that I called security. Heard them knock on the door and no more screaming.

That's my thinking, the info and wording just doesn't make sense. I've always found Disney responsive in such matters though if they didn't have rooms to move them to, that limits immediate options. If it was that bad you'd think we'd have had a lot of complaints over the years about the very issue. Without confirmation from others, it's hard to take the info at face value.

Since you have stayed in those rooms, what is your opinion on the amount of noise and how early it start?
