anyone else? Last year's was sooo much better...deeper discounts. The Disney page just has $5 off coupons...the 7 pack princess set last year was 50% off. Hope there are better deals to come at other stores....

I was more disappointed that they put the Elf on a Shelf in there. My kids look at these books for weeks at this time of year. The premise behind these dolls I thought was they come from the North Pole each year and go back after Christmas. You don't "buy" them from a store. I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but ds (9) pretty much has it figured out and dd (7) won't be far behind. :(. I want just a little more time of that magic.

Can't you just remove that page?

I'm not impressed with the toy catalog but I figure that there will be some good deals available later. I would keep an eye on the Target website for toy coupons that might be matchable to sale items later. A lot of games and toys go on sale between now and Christmas. And there are almost always coupons on the manufacturers' websites to use along with of the sale.

Retailers are going to be competing hard just to get you to walk in their doors this Christmas. They are going to have to offer some good discounts in the hopes that once you're there, you will continue to add things to your cart.

I like a lot of the toys in the toy catalog. I just wish they weren't so expensive. So I'm agreeing with the PP's on this one :thumbsup2 DD did point to a couple things that she likes, but she isn't even 2 so she just likes to look at the pictures right now  Though she really liked the puppy in the purse :goodvibes

I thought the same thing. Why would you put Elf on a Shelf in the toy advertisement? I saw it before my kids did and tore that page.

Be forewarned when you go to Target: I was there today and right across the aisle from toys is a display of Elf on a Shelf. At our store books and electronics run parallel to toys along a main aisle. The Elf on a Shelf have a big display, so you're kids are likely to see them!

Another complaint along the lines of the toy catalog: I went to my local Target at 8:30 this morning. They were already out the of the Our Generation Wooden Wardrobe. In 1/2 an hour?? Did they even have any in stock?? If you're going to run in your big toy ad, then you need to stock the toys that are advertised!

!

I saw them in a bookstore yesterday, too. We don't have one, but I know that will ruin it for some kids.

They are in *every* store near us - toy stores, books stores, kids clothing boutiques. We don't do Elf on the Shelf (advent calendars are enough for us) but they are ubiquitous.

I was also disappointed. I bought gifts for alot of my nieces and nephews with some of the coupons last year. This year I am not seeing any good deals.:sad2:

I did tear the page out. But I very easily could have not seen it before them. Until this year, I had only seen them in book stores and Hallmark stores. They typically don't go into those stores often and not really during the holidays.

FYI... The Toy catalog was out over a week ago, I got mine in the mail on Halloween... Prices are good Nov 1 to 23rd. I would try to get a rain check if something is out. Also, when they print the rain check it will say if other stores in the area are showing the item in stock.

I am with you on this one!!! We keep DS out of the Hallmark store too! Upset that it was in the catalog!!! DS didn't say anything, other than he saw it.

:goodvibes The only toy catalog I liked and my kids got more selection from was the TRU one.

Last year I did great with the Target toy catalog. I got great deals on Lego, Little People, and Disney princess dolls. I was able to purchase for lots of little nieces/nephews plus put some aside for birthday gifts. This year, there is nothing that strikes me as being a good deal.

I'm really disappointed because I had kind of counted on getting all of the little kids done before Thanksgiving using the Target deals. Oh well, I guess I can always hope for some of those great amazon.com toy deals a couple of weeks before Christmas as a back-up plan.

We have 2 boys are we're also disappointed. We couldn't see one thing we wanted in the entire catalog.

He seems to be everywhere this year - I've even seen him on the kid's channels on tv advertising a show about him coming out. When I bought him 2 years ago, it was at the Hallmark store & that was the only place I ever saw it. Last year I started to see it everywhere in Nov. So, before our elf showed up on Thanksgiving morning, I had to go out & find a new elf. We just pretended Santa sent a different one. He's the one coming back this year.
