Dissapointed there are no more 6 day park hoppers.

Due to a family illness, I am running later than usual on booking our holiday trip. Since we come from San Antonio, we stay 6 nights and do 6 days in the park. We have Seaworld and Six Flags here (we're passholders at both) so we have no desire to do Knott's Berry or Magic Mountain. Now there are no more 6 day park hoppers! When I asked the cast member, he said, "most people just spend a day or two at Disney and move on". "Maybe you could go to Knott's Berry Farm". Are you kidding me? As a stock holder, I could not believe they were trying to send good money spending customers away.
We already had our touring plan in place for 6 days. I'm just really dissapointed. Yes, we could buy a one day ticket. But they are $87 and the price difference would have paid for premium Fantasmic! viewing or our favorite, the Holiday Tour.
Any input?

Thanks for letting me rant!

It does seem counterintuitive for Disney to discontinue the 6 day parkhoppers.

You can take your 5 day ticket to the ticket booths and add an extra day for a small fee. It's either $5 a day or $15 I think. It was $5 before the ticket increase but some have said that's what they are still charging. So don't worry it can be added.

Two cast members said I had to buy a single one day ticket??? Can anyone else confirm the cost/ possibility of adding days to my park hopper?

I saw a post a few days ago that was having the same issue. They took the tickets to the booth and asked to have a day added at the lesser fee -- like 5 dollars I think it what they said they paid. I just happened to see the price increase 2 days before the deadline to buy for the old price and be able to get 6 day passes.

As of May 20th, that is no longer an option. The concierge said Walt Disney travel made the decision and the only option is to purchase another 1 day ticket for $87 for a one park ticket! UGH!

I was just there this weekend and went to the ticket booths to ask and she told me it's still in their system but they to get a surpervisor to authorize it but days can still be added. Alot of CM's really have no idea.

We got the runaround in 2010 when I was told to upgrade at City Hall and they told me I couldn't and needed to purchase new tickets. Well I said No thanks and went out to the ticket booths in the middle and in less then 5 minutes had upgraded our 3day City pass tickets to 7 days at $5 a day.

I'm pretty frustrated myself at Disney for this and I have almost lost a bit of respect for them. I like many are not one of the many lucky locals who can just go whenever they want to the parks with their annual passes. I only go once a year if I am very lucky, other people go way less then that. But I know myself, I certainly spend a lot of time planning, and a lot of money to get there. I like to spend more then 5 days at Disney to get in as much time as I possibly can before I have to fly back home. My family generally gets a 7 or 8 day pass and boy do we make the use of it. But I am so annoyed that I would have to pay double per person to get a 5 and a 3 day hopper now. Especially if they stop all this upgrading for $5 or 15 dollars per person per day. It will be much cheaper to purchase a basic annual pass. I guess that is what we are going to be doing now. Thanks Disney! :snooty: I just think this is silly considering they have been complaining about too many people having annual passes. Watch the increase on them now!

We are going to check when we get there and see if we can get someone who can do the $5 things because we want 2 extra days. If not we are going to buy APs since it is only a few dollars more...and I would love another trip which we had agreed no more Disney for a few years...but w/ APs we just have to.

That's the official line; however, there have been a lot of reports of people being able to add on to the 5 day passes still, so give it a shot.

From several different postings on DIS this has been the case. You can phone and talk to several castmembers, write directly, ask at the hotels and get the same answer from them all, NO. BUT... when the people have actually gone to the ticket booth tickets in hand and wanted to add the days, it is done. One person said they had to ask to speak to a lead, and they did it, but it can be done. As lately as last week someone posted about doing it. I just think they don't want people to know about it so they will spend more money on buying extra days for full price. We will be there and trying it ourselves after the 14th of July, and I will post here on our success or lach thereof. :goodvibes

I'm too OCD! LOL! I have to know the option, how much and where exactly to go. I dont want to run around the park, stand in lines, etc,, just to have a CM tell me they donlt know what I'm talking about. I'm currently on hold with WD Travel. I tried twice prior to May 20 to book this trip but the site was under construction! UGH!!

FWIW, I feel the same exact way you do.

Great news, WD Travel "grandfathered" me in for the 6 day park hopper. She said this is a one time thing and in the future, "They do not exist". This is a huge relief as we already had our touring plans in place (OCD- I told ya!)
Thanks everyone for letting me vent! Good luck to the rest of you. Hope it works out for all of you, too!

glad it worked out for you! We have added extra days to our trip and now we are going to be upgrading daughters park hopper to an annual pass, but before we do that, we are going to see if we can add an extra 2 days onto her 6 day park hopper, just to see if this can still be done for sure. If we can, great, we will just go back after and upgrade to the annual pass, if we can not add the 2 extra days, we will just upgrade to the annual pass then. I just want to see for myself if they are doing it or not on or after July 14. I am a bit OCD as well :lmao:

Sadly, the "A lot of CM's really have no idea" part is probably the correct answer to your question ballarinamom.
