We just recieved the worst customer service ever while trying to book a room, we decided to go with them because of all the good reports on here, but we encountered nothing good about the call to reservations, you all love it, did I miss some secret code or something??

Granted I haven't called yet... I booked online and then settled things by e-mail.

But going from my own experience Lorealle from in-house-reservations does have the patience of a saint and has been more than friendly although I bugged her about a dozen times over the course of two weeks.

Were you possibly transferred to central reservations? I've read of pretty mixed experiences with them.

It sounds like you were communicating with the 800 number general reservations people.

Yep, I agree with the op. My customer service from Jennifer and Lorealle has been nothing short of exceptional. Make sure you have in-house reservations. PS Not that that is an excuse for the 800 number line. What's up with that?

After having a bad with another hotel I called Jennifer in the in-house reservations at Hojos and found her to be fantastic!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience!

Jennifer has always been extremely helpful and accomodation. However, my experiences with the 800 number have not always been pleasant. I will only talk to in-house reservations to book rooms or do it online and email for followup like above poster.

It sounds like it was the 800 number too. Even if you call the 714 area code Hojo front desk and just say "I would like to make a reservation" or "Can I please have reservations" they transfer you to the 800 number. You have to say "in house"...

Yeah make sure you DO NOT call the 800 # and when you call the 714 # you must make sure to ask for "in-house" reservations. I had a TERRIBLE time talking to the national reservations, they were so rude and acted like I was crazy for asking for the entertainment rate. But I later talked to Lorealle who was more than helpful in making my reservations. Give it another shot with Lorealle or Jennifer!

I talked with Jennifer yesterday and she was TOTALLY awesome...their system was down and since I am calling from overseas she was wiiling to work with me via email or even all me back at HoJo's coast {but I can't tell you where I am so I couldn't give her a number!}...WONDEFRUL!!!

I agree with PP's I had a great experience with In-House reservations, did you call the local number (in-house) or 1-800??

What is the entertainment rate? Is that some special code that you can ask for? I booked online and went with Anaheim Plaza because it was less expensive and the reviews were good. If I can get a cheaper room I'm all for it.

Where is the Hojo located? I'd like to be able to walk to the park. I'm not a very big fan of noise either. Is this more of a family friendly hotel with lots of kids roaming the halls? I'm picky.

I spoke with Jennifer recently (we were considering staying there for this most recent trip) and she was sooooooooooo helpful and answered all my questions and tried different scenarios for me with 100% friendliness and patience. Love the Anaheim HoJo's crew! And we did enjoy our time there when we did stay there and we will stay there again. Ya, you definitely have to specify "in house" reservations to get to the right people.

I spoke with Jennifer yesterday and she was great. I don't have my notes with me but I think the Entertainment rate started at $59, $69, 79. I asked about a range of dates and she told me what days were available for the 'full' entertainment discount.

Now I just have to wait for DH's date approval....

I had to make changes to a reservation I booked with Jennifer a few months ago. I'd gotten the entertainment rate ($59) for our Fri-Sat night stay. I needed to change it to Sat-Sun but the entertainment rate was no longer listed. I called the Hojo Anaheim directly and asked for reservations. The woman I spoke with just told me it was gone and I'd have to pay $120. I was surprised at the abruptness, as I'd had such outstanding service from Jennifer. I then realized I'd not asked for IN-HOUSE reservations and had been transferred to the central number. I called back and asked for in-house reservations, got Jennifer, and she promptly extended the entertainment rate for me and was absolutely awesome.

So, like all the posters above me mentioned, I think you probably made the same mistake I did in not specifying in-house reservations.

You can walk it in 5 to 7 minutes. You can always ride the ART if you are tired at the end of the day, so it gives you options. Ask for a quiet room. We were in building 5 and it was very quiet.

Okay, not to be snarky, well, yes, okay, I'll be snarky; Why exactly are you going to Disneyland if you have issues with children and noise? Outiside of masochism, I can't think of a good reason. I hope that comment only applied to hotels, and still, again the question arises. If you have major issues with children you might want to book at a business hotel outside of the Disneyland area. It might be worth the price of cabs.

Oh my, yes it definitely sounds like you got central reservations and not in house. Call back and ask for Jennifer or Lorealle in In House reservations and you'll have the BEST service ever. Seriously, I love Jennifer & Lorealle!! :)

Chuck, the HoJo is GREAT, it's a 5-7 min. walk, especially if you walk the "special" way. LOL And I too am wondering about the kids and noise comment. You're going to DL, of course you're going to have kids and noise, families go to DL, families stay at the hotels on Harbor......

All right, now I have to ask, what is the "special" way? We will be staying there in June and I am really looking forward to warm temps!

People on boards tend to be interpreted as snarky by default. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt so don't worry about it.

I don't mind kids at all except when I'm trying to sleep. I've stayed at nice quiet hotels that have had families there and I've stayed at popular family hotels where rooms are left open and screaming kids run up and down the halls until 2am. I expect a certain amount of chatter when people are returning to their hotel. Some hotels have thicker walls if you know what I mean.

I was really just wondering if this was the type of place where parents let their kids roam the halls at all hours of the night or if the staff and patrons are considerate of their fellow travelers. The only reasons my wife and I chose the Anaheim Plaza was because the rate was fantastic and other people mentioned how quiet it was. :wave2:

Apologizes for being somewhat off topic, but ChuckFromJersey, is that fantastic rate still available at the Anaheim Plaza? TIA

If you just got off the phone before posting, you absolutely talked with the 800 number people. Call the 714 number during pacific time BUSINESS hours and ask for "in house" reservations.

Otherwise you're getting people in a call center who are NOT in Anaheim and do not know about the special Anaheim rate.

It's easily walkable. It's one of the only actual hotels in the walkable area, too. vs a motel with outside corridors. I've never experienced children running up and down hallways...the kids always seem so exhausted after a day at the park that they are sleeping!

If you have a garden pool view room, during the days you'll hear pool noises, but at night you won't.

If you have the Entertainment Book (you only need it when you check in, not when you book the room), check the discussion boards at hojoanaheim.com, specifically the thread about discounts and the entertainment book discount. YOu can get a room as low as $59 base rate if you're traveling during a time that their very special rate is offered.

When the rate isn't available, you can also get 15% off rack rate for being a disboard member or if you're an AP holder, 20% off rack rate.

People are people and you never know what people will be next to you, but we haven't experienced such a thing at hojo or any other disney area hotels. Actually our first stay at DLR, at Paradise Pier Hotel, we experienced early morning hallway-running, but not night-time.
