DISSAPOINTED!!! CR...long!!

We stayed at the CR in a Tower room , 11th floor, this past Sept. I fully expected to walk into a room like the OP described, after all the posts I read on this board. We had the opposite. Our room was very clean. And in good condition also.
I'm not blaming the OP, but I would have not tolerated that room. I have asked to be moved for lesser reasons. I would have moved 10 times if need be. For over $300.00 a night, the least you should expect is a clean room. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

hey, hey, hey....first of all, I DID not yell at anyone as maxiesmom suggested!!! I didn't call up and yell at housekeeping over towels!!! I simply asked if some fresh towels could be brought to my room due to the room not being cleaned..they were the ones that were difficult that i had even called for towels and acted as if it was a big chore to bring up fresh towels...that is why I was so upset....it was like no one gave a stuff, no customer service whatsoever !!! I am not a confrontational person, I am very quiet and passive and I felt really bad for calling the front desk and telling them I was dissapointed...but at no point did I ever yell or get mad at anyone!!! Also, a lot of people have commented on this post that I should have gotten a different room... well I have never travelled much before and this is only my second stay in a hotel so I didn't know you could ask to have another room, if I had of known you could do this I would definately have done so!! I am not posting this to worry people about upcoming stays, overall, the resort views and convienence was great, I was simply wondering whether this is common as for future trips it would be good to know. Also, someone posted that if you are extra nice to housekeeping they will do more for you....well we gave a $6 tip for two of us every day and a bag of australian chocolates every day and we didn't get any extra attention...not that that worries me, I just basically wanted a clean room and I'm sure most people would feel the same.

I am so sorry that you had such a disappointing experience. I hope your next trip goes much :goodvibes better

Well, see, there you go. I knew there was an explanation. I don't quite know what "australian chocolates" are, but you blokes from down under eat some strange stuff. If they are anything like Vegemite, I'm not surprised at housekeeping's reaction. ;)

Anyway, sorry about your crummy stay. We had some dirt issues in the CR tower once too. I'm kind of hoping the renovations make a difference. I mean, if they're going to renovate the rooms, they have to clean them when they're done, right?

Australian Chocolate is much sweeter than US chocolate. US chocolate tastes like australian chocolate would taste if you hickory smoked it. :rolleyes1 Mind you root beer tastes like hickory smoked coca cola.... american stuff is just as strange as australian :rotfl2: ;)

Not flaming u i realise that you were joking, but i thought some ppl might be interested in another Aussie perspective

p.s. i think the only rooms that are guaranteed refurbished are the ones in concierge...not too sure, but just want you to know before you raise holy hell :3dglasses

I didn't say that I'd raise holy h*ll if the room was not refurbished, I said I would if it was as crappy as the OP said hers was. ;) I am just worried cause I am CLEAN FREAK times a million and staying at a hotel already grosses me out before I even get there. And it was all of these negative comments about the CR that was getting me flustered.

Also to the OP, I am sorry I didn't say it before...I am sorry that you got a crappy room!!! that's terrible!! :grouphug:

We spent nine days on the seventh floor of the CR tower at the end of October and mousekeeping was wonderful. We did not have mousekeeping the day the storm blew in from Wilma but we were informed of that and also that fresh towels would be available.

The CR is a fabulous resort. The CMs are always responsive and friendly. We had a few dining plan charge errors and they were taken care of quickly. My twenty month old loved watching the monorails as we walked through the resort and ate at Chef Mickey's and the Concourse. My older kids enjoyed the pool and the pin trading they set up on Friday nights. They also liked the arcade better than the Poly arcade, where we found about half of the games to be out of order. Also, when the parks were closed for the morning because of the storm, there were plenty of characters and activities for the kids.

I had heard that parking was hard to find as some people try to park there when they are just visiting the MK. We used the valet parking which worked well as it covered all resorts that you visited for that day and came in handy for our dining at the other resorts. It was worth the cost to us in the time it saved.

I really think that these things happen by chance. Sometimes you just get unlucky. I know that when we stayed at the Poly, we had horrible mousekeeping. We did complain to the mousekeeping manager and the mousekeeper retaliated by setting our alarm on the in room clock for 4:30am! We complained again and never heard a word (probably because we were leaving that day). Others, however, have reported never having a problem with mousekeeping at the Poly.

I'm sorry the OP had an unpleasant stay and I hope that your next trip is better.

I agree that these things happen by chance, but are you sure that the same mousekeeper was back at your room and set the alarm for 4 am? Just because I've had that happen to me several times at the WDW deluxe resorts (and finally learned to remember to always check the dang thing before going to sleep as a result) and didn't think it was anything done on purpose. I thought it just happened when they were cleaning off the nightstands. Do you think there could be an alarm-villain tagging the rooms? ;) I've wondered, because we've been hit several times !!! :flower:

Well, that's the only time it happened. And, since they weren't really cleaning the room, I don't think they hit it by chance. We had to complain several days in a row to have one simple thing (that should have been done without our bringing it up) taken care of. The first day it was a request, the second a reminder and the third and fourth, a complaint. We are very easygoing people but this was awful. I could see if maybe the previous occupant had left it set, but this was our last day there, so that wouldn't have been the case.

I've had the alarm go off in the early am mid-stay. I've had it go off in the middle of the night, gotten up to shut it off, and in the morning reset it, only to have it go off at something like 5 am again the next day. It couldn't have been from previous occupant, either. Maybe I upset someone?

You know, in 30 plus years of staying in hotels and resorts, I have never had an alarm go off that I didn't set. Until that morning at the Poly. :confused3 Maybe it is a Disney clock thing? :teeth: They want you to get up early and start spending your money! It was only that one day of that one trip though.

I would hate to have my sleep on my vacation interupted that often. I hope you have better luck on future trips. :goodvibes

Honestly, I had never given the issue that much thought, but it is strange that it seems to happen so often at Disney. I wondered if somehow the clocks were very sensitive touch at the time....but it IS weird! Maybe the subject deserves a new thread...because now I'm wondering how many people have this problem there! Hmmmm :confused3

On this last trip to the Poly, the alarm in the room next to us went off at probably 5:00 am or so and nobody turned it off. It went on and on for what seemed like forever. We mostly slept through it, but at one point, we heard someone (probably from this room's other neighbor) banging on their door yelling, "your alarm is going off!" We figured no one must have been in the room at the time, and we let the front desk know later that morning. I have no idea if it was mousekeeping or the prior occupants who left the alarm set.
