So - I’m here at the fort now - and I think I did a pretty good job decorating my site - sure - I don’t have any lights - my decorations are mainly visible during the day - and yes - I made them all myself - but - I made them with love – but we have been deemed disqualified???

The judges came by our site tonight and told my husband that we didnt fit into any category - but they recognized the hard work put into our decorations and wanted to give us an honorable mention and gave my husband a snow globe. Yay. Whoop de doo. Why were we disqualified? Why didn’t we fit into any category? I wasn’t even aware there were categories.

Were we disqualified because we didn’t buy our decorations at Wal-Mart or the Disney Store? Because I worked on them for months instead of hours? I promised myself I wouldn’t be upset about losing but I never expected to be disqualified. It took forever to get everything down here from Connecticut and now it just feels like a waste. Im really sad about it - I guess I should just take my snow globe and run - its nice (75.00) - but my feelings are hurt.

On top of being sick this week - this just feels like a hit in the stomach.

:confused3 Doesn't seem fair to me.
At least you know we all think they look great.
By the way;
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! party:

Whip, as far as I'm concerned you were not disqualified and those decorations were a winner in MY book.

But then again, being a winner in my book will only get you a cup of coffee if you have an additional $2 in your pocket, but I really did like the set up.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I woke up a few minutes ago to my 5 year old - who has been sick for sdays - telling me - "today - is going to be the best day ever Mommmy" - who can go back to sleep after that!

Ive decided to take my snowglobe and run - Its nice - even a Peter Pan theme - I wish I knew why we were disqualified - probably because our display is not traditional Halloween? No pumpkins or cobwebs? I just cant figure it out. I thought Disney embraced unique.

On the plus side I guess we dont have to race back here after my birthday dinner to find out if we won - lol - we werent even a competitor.

Thanks for letting me vent - I hope my children dont see whow sad I am about it.

Don't let yet another bewildering decision by Fort management ruin your birthday or the rest of your trip. They at least recognized how good your decorating was, or they wouldn't have given you what is a pretty valuable snow globe. And I'm sure that everyone looping is really enjoying your site too. Take heart in that. And, have a Happy Birthday!!

I would love to see some pictures! I'm sure your site looked fantastic! I'm so sorry they disqualified you. :(

:goodvibesI don't get it. I thought disney was all about imagination. Could you post some pictures so we could enjoy it.

I Say You WON the BEST of the Home made category. And loved your husbands hat for batwit.

DS was walking by just as I was admiring the pic Jeff took of your decorations. His reaction? "That's Awesome!"

For what it's worth, that's the decision of OUR in-house judge. :thumbsup2

Wow! That's amazing. I still don't understand why they would disqualify you...it was a pirate themed display!

I didnt get a snow globe, :sad1:

reckn thats what I get for not try'n.

I loved your decorations, :thumbsup2 ,

and it was nice to meet you,, as quick as it was.

I think your decorations were great! :thumbsup2 I guess it wasn't the spooky Halloween type stuff..but I see no reason to disqualify you. That's just dumb.:sad2: I totally enjoyed your creativity and admire your hard work. :wizard:

Thanks for all the kind replies - Your feedback made me feel alot better.

My dh ordered my a giant birthday cake from Citricos last night that had duct tape all over it (made from fondant) - so cute - I loved it - so Im over the disqualification thing. BTW - the winner of the golf cart contest came by my site this morning to let me know he admired my work - his prize was a half hour boat ride - I think Ill keep my snow globe.

You know what- your display made a lot of people smile and I am sure years from now someone will say hey remember the pirate ship we saw? You gave people memories. I am sorry you were disqualified but I hope you don't lose the spirit!
For what it is worth we spend over 30 minutes looking for your site! I thought it was in the 2000 loop and asked campers if this was the loop with the ship. The one guys said no, she is in 1500. So people took notice!

Annie and I liked it too. I thought it was Disney because the pirate theme and the alligator was electric water parade material. It was a good job and I was asked several times "hey did you see the duct tape display" in 1500 loop so obviously there were people who liked it.

I think it was cuz it was not quite Halloweenie enough for Disney...other than that it was pretty cool.:thumbsup2

I thought your site was wonderful, Whip!!! Very creative, brightly colored, not frightening....all in all...I thought it was very "Disney Friendly"....but WHO KNOWS what Disney ever wants!!!!
I took a few pictures and hope you dont mind me posting them here.

Me with the creator of this work of art.
