Has anyone tried using the Camera's that you can get wet? I'm not wanting to risk my digital camera on water rides or at the Water parks. How did your pic's look when you got them back? Thanks!

I always use them for White water. The pics are great. the kids love going under water and taking pics of eachother. I usually buy Fugi and it takes the abuse of being banged on the sides of the pool. And being tossed around. Just remember you cant zoom with them.

i have a digital camera...i usually put it in 2 new ziplock bags - double bagging it before going on a water ride...there ore only a few in the parks...splash mountain...and the water one in AK...that i can think of...

the photos on a water proof cam are ok...but not great...i use them when i go snorkeling...under water...but otherwise i get better detail on my camera...

I ended up getting a water camera when we went to Niagara Falls b/c it rained the whole weekend we were there and I didn't want to risk using my digital camera all the time and the pics actually turned out better than my digital camera ones at times (if you want to see pics i scanned them on my computer). My advice, get one or 2 anyways just incase, we bought one in Canada and it was only 20 bucks when we could have got them for like 8 bucks in Pittsburgh, for our trip in May i will prolly get a water camera and a reg. dispos. camera just incase!!

well if its raining the entire weekend... ;)

im not saying that it is a horrible idea to get a water proof camara...but if your going on a normal weekend...with only 2 wet rides...a person can use simple protection...

is it worth it to go pay 20 bucks for a water proof camera with 27 shots? you can get a decent digital for 150 now-a-days and you can get 500-1000 pictures...think about how much you use your camera. if you use it alot...then will you be happy with 27 pictures?

Thank You! I will pick up a couple before we go, we are going in August and planning on doing the water parks as well. I'm a scrapbooker so need those pics lol

As am I, get them before you get there unless you want to pay top dollar for one lol!! I am also a huge scrapbooker so I plan on taking as many pics as I can, i'm sure my parens will be sick of it by the end of the trip

I noticed that you said you're going in Aug. That's when we went last year. I bought my waterproof cameras at Wal Mart last year. I shopped around and they had the best price. :thumbsup2 They were the better underwater cameras by Kodak and I "lucked" into 2 $2 off coupons that I found in our paper. WM's price on the camera's was just under $9 ($8.86 I believe). So I only paid $14 for both. :woohoo: I saw the same ones at the water parks and I was glad I already had mine as they were just about $20 each there. :scared1: I used them at the water parks, but I used my regular digital on Splash. We didn't even get wet at all even on the big 'splash'. If you are flying 1) take them in your carry on baggage, 2) already have them removed from the packaging, and 3) politely insist that they be hand inspected...do not give in on this issue. ;) Most security will try to persuade you to put them thru the imaging machine, but you run the risk of having the film ruined. :sad1: I know if it's over 800 speed, security will hand inspect w/o balking, but I made them hand inspect all my film. I paid too much money and had too many memories that I was not willing to chance having my pictures ruined because a security person did not want to be bothered checking my film by hand. ;) All they have to do is use a little wipe to wipe the camera or film cartridge and then put the wipe on this other machine that can detect explosives. Anyway, didn't mean to be so long winded, but just wanted to share my experiences. Good Luck and enjoy. :yay: :cool1: :yay:

TY all for your help! I did check at Walmart yesterday and they still are just under $9.00 so will be picking them up before leaving. At least 2 of them if not 3, The girls are at a age they love taking pic's also 13 and 15 so better to be on the safe side. Were planning on doing both water parks so I'm sure they won't go to waste. Thanks again, Mary

PS - My trip is in August but I'm so anal about planning everything out, my list is already started on things to take. I research everything. :thumbsup2

Haha Mary, you are not the only one, my father who claims every year we go that we will not go back is always more excited about planning the trip than actually going (you dont have to deal with the crowds and heat when you plan the trip!) We booked most of our trip before Xmas for May and we finally finished everything within the past 2 weeks: flights booked, ressies booked for DDP, schedule of EMHs, ME booked for flights, etc.! I get little say in the planning basically b/c i'm not paying for it should be greatful i get to go, which i am but I did get to pick a TS for my grad dinner and i chose Coral Reef! So while DMom and DDad get the excitment about planning the trip, my excitment is packing (I started my list over xmas for our trip) but since my college graduation/move out is the day before we leave, I will really have to plan ahead and pack (and repack of course)!! The workers for ME are gonna love my heavy bags of clothes and shoes! HAVE A GREAT TRIP AND HAVE FUN PLANNING!

Use them every trip to water areas. I usually buy 3 or 4. You can sometimes get them in a deal with 2 for about $10 and includes a regular disoposable for free. I take that too for above water shots. I take on all the slides just attach it to my wrist. I've used at both water parks, swimming pools, ocean, rafting.......

Used four in Discovery Cove last trip. Overcast and sometimes raining, so not great sun in water, but still got decent photos. No way would I chance my digital there, especially since they take a decent photo.

Here are a couple I took, one above water and one under (with low sun).

Can you use the water cameras at the shark swim/snorkel thing at TL?? You are in the tank with animals but I didnt think they really allowed you to stop but if you are permitted to take pics that would be great!!

I've taken pictures there every time ! Best to go first thing in morning. Not only is it less crowded (and they don't rush you), but the water is very clear. As the day goes on, the crowds stir up the sediment and it begins to get murky. My photos in am were very crisp but the ones in the afternoon were not.

We used them at both waterparks, and we also took pictures at the shark reef. The week before we used them at the beach. They really turned out good for that kind of camera.

Wow thanks for the help, I will totally be buying some water cameras before we go in May. We got the free upgrades for our tickets (hopper waterpark and more option) so we have every intention of hitting up the waterparks since we didnt hafta pay for them, why waste it! and we will just take advantage of the EMH at night.

We always bring about 5 water cameras for our 7-9 day trips.
We use them at the resort pool, as well as TL & BB.
I use one.
DD12 gets 2 to use during our trip. So does DS8.

**DH uses his waterproof digital camera. Those are rare, & he always gets asked, "Where did you get that?"

The pics come out fine with the waterproof cameras from Target.
**Buy them before you go.
They are VERY expensive at the waterparks.

Please tell the college graduate "Congratulations" from us!
Maybe we'll see you around! (We'll be eating at WCC on Tues. May 15 for dinner.

Will they let you go down the slides at TL/BB with the cameras? The ones I get come w/a rubber band wrist strap so they're not going to just fly off. Not thinking of trying to take pics on the way down, just want to keep it with me so it doesn't get lost and I don't miss out on any photo ops.
