I got two underwater disposable fugi cameras. And 3 Kodak dispoable camaras. How do these cameras compare to a regular one? :wave2:

I've tried several brands & I always go back to the same Kodak one. I wish I could remember the actual name. I think it's blue, though.

It takes wonderful pictures - on land & in the water - as long as there is strong sunlight.

Hi,
We just returned from Hawaii where I purchased disposable underwater cameras for snorkelling. The first two I bought were Fuji with no flash. Then at WalMart I found ones with flash. Don't remember which brand, sorry. It had a hard yellow plastic case. I should have returned the first two that I picked up. They were the same amount of money and when developed the photos underwater with a flash were much better. As far as comparing, when I put the outdoor shots in my album with all my other photos, I couldn't tell the difference between my good camera and the disposable.

Personally--I don't like how Fuji Film develops. I am not sure if it is the film or the process. I have had kodak processed in fuji--and was not impressed.

In any case--we used a Kodak underwater in Grand Cayman and it took beautiful pics (that was 6 years ago).

We used fuji and kodak. DW scrapbooks and she likes the pics. Kodak seems to look a little better. DON'T PUT THE CAMERAS IN YOUR REGULAR LUGGAGE!!! Bring it in your carryon!! I buy a bunch for DDs so they can bring them to the pools etc. and not worry about ruining our good cameras.

I have frequently used the Fuji waterproof disposables for pool and beach pictures and really can't tell the difference between them and the regular camera, however....

...Sunscreen and disposable cameras DON"T mix!!! If you are wearing sunscreen and you pick up a waterproof disposable camera, it is next to impossible to get the sunscreen off of the plastic casing--if you don't get it off and it is near the lens it will cloud your pictures! I have found that the kids are the biggest culprit with this.

Disposable cameras are good for what they're good for: sunny, outdoor pictures where quality isn't a major factor. They're perfect for the beach or the pool. Don't waste your time with indoor pictures, even with flash.

My suggestions:
I like Fuji because the blue and green colors tend to be stronger.
Get the more expensive ones with the "better" lenses.
Don't unwrap them until the last minute; have them developed ASAP -- the quality of your pictures will suffer if you allow disposables to sit around.
Label your cameras -- everyone else will have the same ones!

Any underwater camera will work OK as long as you have plenty of sunlight and you don't go too deep. I have read that anything under 10- feet wont photo very well, because the sunlight won't go that deep.

I prefer the Fuji underwater camera to Kodak as I think the greens and blues turn out better, but this is just my two cents. I have taken literally hundreds of underwater pictures. I have tried Kodak underwater, but i like the Fuji much better.
