Wouldn't you like to catch a glimpse at the possible future line-up of attractions to come at the parks here in the USA? Will DisneySea's version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea occupy the abandoned lagoon at the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland? So many possibilities, and so much to look forward to. The question is how long will we have to wait? Below is a link to an article on LaughingPlace.com where Marc Boreli has a series of first hand accounts and descriptions of all of the major rides and ports, complete with pics, at DisneySea. He includes behind-the-scenes information and stats on most of the attractions. The details he has provided are absoultely captivating. Just a word of caution: after reading this piece you'll probably want to take the next flight out to Tokyo. I drooled in suspense as I followed his discovery of this gem of a park. The place is flat out amazing. And Indiana Jones is every bit as good, if not better, than it's predecessor. Here's the link:

For a Disney park enthusiast, a trek to Tokyo DisneySea would have to be the ultimate adventure. Now if only I can convince my wife to make the trip. As it stands, my chances are next to none of turning this into a family trip. It' s just too far, and the culture gap too great. My ace in the whole may be showing her this article as well as the pictures on MousePlanet. If not, I may have to organize a field-trip of sorts. Anyone up for it?

It would be my dream to go over there. I'm just worried if I would be able to get around and be ok over there. I think I would be more comfortable if I had a friend or knew someone over there that spoke Japanese. DisneySea just looks so amazing!!

Awesome, wow, breathtaking,.....

Fieldtrip????

Hmmmm, like you (Irodk) I would also have trouble convincing DW, but DD (17) would freak.
Must give this some thought ,starting next year I am eligable for 3 weeks vacation at work.
DL was in the planning stages, but Disney Sea, WOW.
Wonder what the cost would be? I already did the conversion (Yen to Dollar) for the room rates at the Mira Coasta, standard room from $400 to $600, depending on time of year and day of week (Approx). Airfare? Offseason times in Japan? Don't know enough about the culture to know when one time is better thatn another (ie Holidays,..).

Anyone have any ideas, answers, clues,...

TiggerFreak,

From your area of the country the "lowest fare" page in Travelocity is showing about $800 RT

From my area of the country (Seattle) it's about $560

New York $800
Dallas $800
Los Angeles $550

Airfare seems to be the most expensive part. I checked some of the resort area hotels and they seem to be $250 - $350 which isn't really that different from the WDW deluxe hotels when you think about it. Park admission is about the same as WDW and DL. I've heard from people who live in Japan that the souveniers and food prices are about the same and even slightly cheaper than WDW (but a ton more variety so you can end up spending more really easily!)

I don't know much about the Japanese holidays, only I don't think there is a true off-season like WDW. A week here and there, but otherwise the park is either crowded or insanely crowded.

My Dad and I were talking that a good side business the next couple of years may be travel planning to Tokyo. I know there are quite a few "internet people" who are interested but are scared of venturing to the Orient since there is a lot of unfamiliar territory (prices, holidays, not to mention language, etc) one centralized place for all the internet people to "go check so-and-so" like we can for Dreams Unlimited would be very helpful.

To my amazement, DW expressed an interest in a trip to TDS:earseek:
So heres the rub:

Airfare for three 2500.00
5 nights MiraCoasta 2000.00
Meals,etc,..... 1250.00

Total 5750.00

Now these are just rough numbers, but......

5750/75 = approx 75 point add on contract at VWL:confused:
or even better
5750/65 = approx 90 points for a GOOD deal on a resale:eek:

What is TiggerFreak to do:)

A trip to Tokyo is a must do for my family, most likley fall of 2002 0r spring of 2003. And we will blow the budget and stay at Mira Costa ! ( note to self , this would be perfect timing for 15th wedding anniversary ) yea! there's the justification !:D

I'm just starting a home business....and this is now my goal. We will go to Japan. I never would have thought that I'd go there almost exclusively to see a theme park...but TDS really looks like it would be worth traveling around the world to see!

From my earliest rough estimate I want to budget at least $10,000 for this (my dh says he'd need at least $1000 for souvenirs...so maybe higher...lol)

I guess I should get to working my business! And learning some Japanese!

And to TiggerFreak....more points after the Japan trip (I'm thinking OKW resale...but who knows)

SO and i are ready to go! starting next month the TDS vacation fund will start filling up. language lessons will probably follow. is someone going to act a "point person" for this?

btw, this is my first time posting on the rumors board. i love the discussions here and would love to add but my knowledge is so limited...i mean, you probably all know there is a park in orlando, right? ;)

Just a bit of travel info as I understand it for Japan if you stay longer than 48 hours.

When returning to the US you can bring $400 worth of stuff back per person with no fees.

The next $1000 is 4% duty ( 3% after Jan 1, 2002)

After that it can get really expensive, but families can combine their exemptions.

The stuff you never had to consider before, thanks to Tokyo's wonderful selection of merchandise!

This discussion is starting to get serious. ;) I smell a future DIS Rumors Board Meet...hmm...better start saving up those dollars.

BTW: More pictures are up at the other sites. As I said before, PLEASE DO NOT VIEW the new images if you plan on making a trip to Cali any time soon to see the "other" new park.
