More Water Added to Stormalong Bay, Work Begins on Exterior of Disney’s Beach Club Resort

More pool sections at Stormalong Bay have been filled with water as work begins on Disney’s Beach Club Resort.

When approaching the resort by Friendship Boat, we could see that scaffolding surrounds the wreckage at Shipwreck Cove as work continues.

In our last update, several work vehicles were still parked near the Stormalong Bay entrance, along with various construction tools. All large equipment is now missing from the area, and no construction workers were present, although more water is being added to the pool sections.

Additional large bags of sand have arrived and are sitting near the pool. We speculated in our most recent update that most of the refurbished pool sections were covered in a fresh layer of sand, but it now appears that more was needed or too much was ordered.

Several pipes are also laid across the sand and into Stormalong Bay.

Lots of scaffolding is also up surrounding the back of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, as routine exterior maintenance is also scheduled at the resort this summer from June through September 2025, overlapping the pool refurbishment.

While this area of the pool appears almost complete, several blue 55-gallon drums are visible in the background, likely containing materials related to pool maintenance, such as shock or chemicals for water balancing.

A tan pool filter sits on a patio near cleaning supplies, next to a pool and white railing on a sunny day.
A new water tank and demolished pool pump box sit next to one of the Stormalong Bay walking bridges, so Disney has likely replaced the entire system during the update.

One of the rockwork water features was also running during our visit and looks complete. Though the rockwork was not demolished like other concrete in the area, it likely received paint touch-ups and general improvements.

Behind another rock feature, it appears that concrete work still needs to be completed as the rebar is visible.

A white stairway is blocked by a green barricade near Stormalong Bay’s ship-themed playground under a sunny sky.

While many of the green gates blocking areas are now gone, some still remain, likely to remind workers of wet paint on stairs and other areas.

“Pool Closed” and “Pardon our Appearance” signs are still posted on pool gates to alert guests to the closure and refurbishment.

Stormalong Bay is expected to remain closed through this month, June 2025, though no exact reopening date has been announced.

With the scrim scaffolding starting to go up at BC maybe those staying can report back if they notice if Disney is putting people in the rooms with scrim scaffolding in front of their balconies? This seems to be a main concern for those with upcoming stays.

ETA- just scaffolding so far!

No reports of scrim only scaffolding, and what appears to be roof shingle replacements at the moment for BC.

We will be there in September and received an email stated they will be working on the entrance of Yacht Club and the car port will be closed for traffic. Nothing about SAB!

The work at SAB is scheduled to be completed this month. The work in September should impact the front of both YC and BC and include the porte cochere (covered drive/entry way) at both.

Does it matter what number I call to book a cabana? I was given a number that was more direct - it actually starts off as the internet help desk; I was told though that the people there handle many things and in fact they SEEM to know about reserving cabanas.

The reason I was given that number is that it opens much earlier - though I've since stopped setting my alarm for 5AM central.

Anyway, I ask and am told "nothing is available". I then ask :is it because they are reserved for the day I'm looking for, or are they not yet taking reservation - waiting for an official SAB opening date?" Then I'm told "yes, that's the reason"

But I can't help but wonder.

If they are booked (and I think there are still only 4) I understand I simply missed out. I'd rather not call every day if that's the case.

407-WDW-PLAY. Options will get you to booking cabanas...... This line opens at 7AM ET and is the one I've always used. There may be other options, but this one definitely works for us. I'm not aware of any other number, unless you're DVC and MS might be able to do it, too - but they only open at 9AM ET.

I've not yet seen a post from anyone who actually booked a cabana in July or very early August - not sure if they're taking bookings or not yet.
