Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

YC CL reporting here! We have the same room we had 2 years ago but WOWZA has it changed!!! We've got two queens and the pullout and the shower stall bathroom (DS is beside himself with joy ). I can hear buzzing feim the refurb on 2 but it's mild enough it could have been the fridge. Weren't met curbside but the admiral on deck himself escorted us upstairs when I said we were CL. Got my Drink of Perfection, child is thrilled we can access the Globe Pokestop from our room (yes, the Globe is BACK!!!), and all is right with the World. ❤❤❤

Excellent news JennLTX! Sounds like a lovely start to your vacay. If you are around for afternoon snacks I would love to know the offerings. One more month!

Hi all!

We return home to the Beach Club on Thursday, YAY!!! Definitely in the 'counting down the hours' stage.

Does anyone know the current SAB hours? I'm particularly curious about when it opens in the morning, to get some pool time in before we spend the rest of the day out and about.

It should open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Have they started the rehab on the Captain's Grille, Sorry if this has been discussed. I went back several pages and can't seem to find an update on it. Thanks so much.

The work at Captain's Grille, as well as the adjacent Ale & Compass Lounge, started the last week of May. The temporary location at Ariel's is smaller, but pretty, with an open, airy ambience. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus are slightly different, due to Ariel's kitchen set-up.

Thanks we actually ate at Ariel's before it closed, so it will be nice to see it again. How does the lobby area look? Is the construction there bothersome?

This seems to have really come to a head when they went from full comforters to bed runners. Seems a "darned if you do, and darned if you don't" situation with off setting laundry costs/sanitary issues of comforters with replacement costs for runners/pillows that are small and easily packed. Similar to the years-ago decision to go from monogramed towels to plain white boring ones....

It's a shame there are some who think it's ok to steal...somehow I guess they justify it in their own minds. Me - I couldn't look myself in the mirror! My husband even thinks it's stealing to take the unused shampoos/soap left in the room... :tilt:

The new Cooper Creek DVC room has both pillows and bed runners. Is this just going to be hotel rooms?

There are temporary walls around both spaces - even painted to match the surroundings, so there is nothing objectionable to see. The merchandise from the Fittings and Fairings shop, however, is set up in the lobby, in the back corner, across from the prior entrance to Captain's Grille. You might have to take a few extra steps, if you are heading over in the direction of Crew's Cup Lounge, etc., but it's absolutely not a problem.

The dinner menu at the temp location of Captain's Grille has prime rib - do not remember seeing that before the move.

We ate dinner at Captain's Grille two weeks ago and they didn't have prime rib on the menu at that time. It sounds like a great addition to the menu. If they have it when we are there in July we'll probably eat there. :)

What is the lovely green drink I've seen on here and where is it from?

As dansdad mentions below, it is the Sunken Treasure. For more info than you want to know about the Official Drink of the Beach & Yacht Club FAQ, including the recipe, history, pictures and even a song, go to Page 1, Post 16 (I think) Community Post.

Sunken Treasure. Available at pool bar at BC/YC, Hurricane Hannah's, and the pool bar at CBR. Not sure if it's available at all WDW resort pool bars.

I know it has been spotted at several pool bars although I haven't kept track of which ones. Poly was another. For some reason, people always let me know where they find them

:goodvibes

We have breakfast reservations at Captains Grill for August and am rethinking it since it has been moved to the Ariel location. It seems that location would be smaller and darker. Is that accurate? I'm thinking that Fresh Mediterranean Market might be a better choice. I like the fact that there are a lot of windows. Any comments on that restaurant?

The Ariel's space is very bright and cheerful. The exterior windows are covered by sheer drapery panels, so the natural light filters in. The tables are well-spaced out. As others have posted, there will be no buffet, just selections from the menu.
