Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Have a couple questions about the Ship Shape Spa. Are the massages pretty good? (Though frankly at this point I'd settle for a cat walking on my back and consider that a great massage.) My son, who's 14, wants a massage; it says under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Does the adult have to be the same gender? (Didn't know if maybe they had separate mens' and women's areas of the spa.)

For those who have been waiting for Southwest to extend their flight schedule, reservations may now be made through Nov 3, 2017, as of early this morning.

It appears as though nonstops, in some markets, are being reduced, as the older 300s are removed from the fleet, and newer aircraft with greater capacity are being added. So, if you intend to book travel on Southwest, especially for peak travel periods, it's suggested that you book as far ahead as possible.

I booked our SW flights today too for the first week in October. We only had one direct flight per day to/from MHT. While I was making our return flights the price jumped from $133 to $156 on our return flight. I had already booked my return flight so I got the $133 price but had to pay $156 for hubbies. Amazing how quickly the prices jump. I will keep watching to see if they go back down for a credit for a future visit.

Looking forward to going home to the beach club in October!

Last August we came to WDW and stayed at the BC for 4 nights and then went to the Poly for 4 nights. We were going to stay at the BC for the whole times but I read on this board about doing a split stay and decided to change and it was great. When we stayed at BC, we went to EP and HS and when we stayed at the Poly we went to the MK and AK for 1 day. This August we are staying at the YC for 4 nights and 3 nights at the GF. We love being close to the MK when we are going there. Taking the boats over to the MK from the resorts is great, just like being at the BC or YC and visiting EP and HS is great.

What's the tub situation at BC? Did most of the queen/queen rooms keep the tub/shower combo after the redurb? ...I keep trying to search & I know the info is here but I can't find it :( (I'm blaming my allergy brain!) ...

Hi Jenn - front portico sounds like a nice peaceful view. Although both my kids LOVE the pool I would definitely request a room away from it since the noise can sometimes distract my two year old from taking his nap! we will also be at the YC in a CL standard view - last week of June. I'm curious to know where the club lounge is located on the 5th floor - is it the room a few down from your room, 5170? Also, is there an outside sitting area? thank you for any additional infomation!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1, Post 15.

:cool1:

Here's the layout of the 5th floor (club level).

Please note that the following rooms listed as Standard View are actually Garden View:

5148, 5150, 5152, 5154, 5198

There is an outside sitting area at the lounge, overlooking the front entrance portico. If you go to Page 1, Post 12, there are links with pictures from the lounge from my October 2016 trip.

Thanks for the tip for southwest. I just got my trip tickets for $113 each way and that was on a Saturday and nonstop flights. Thanks again

:welcome: to the thread! Thanks for posting the booking experience for your flight! Sounds like a fantastic deal!

Here is the info I have on Page 1, Post 5 (Amenities) about the spa. There is a link to a thread asking for massage reviews- there are a couple there. Check those out and maybe bump up the thread to see if you can get additional reviews.

Great question about the gender of the adult companion. I don't know. Perhaps you could call the number for the spa and ask.

BTW- anyone at the resort now or soon- could you pick up an updated price list? The one I have here is from my trip in 2013. I don't know if this is listed in the room info. I got my price list from the front desk of the spa pictured below.

February 2016
Wanted to report that DD and I tried Ship Shape Salon for haircuts. Fabulous service and beautiful haircuts. They even gave my daughter an Elsa braid and pixie dust in her hair. If you don't want to spend on BBB this is the way to go. A trim, complimentary braid and pixie dust on cost 24.00. My hairdresser even put some pixie dust in my daughter's Elsa doll. It was quite the treat. My haircut was a lot more expensive as an adult but it was very well done and relaxing. Also, the hairdresser said they have Princess packages as well for kids.

DW made her way to the Ship Shape Spa for her massage. This spa does not advertise well at all that it offers massages and facials in addition to exercise facilities. Our last two stays at BCV or BWV, DW has walked to the Mandara Spa located at the Swan & Dolphin for a massage. This is much closer, especially when staying at the BCV and according to DW, the massage was just as good if not a little better than what she has experienced at Mandara. No pics from the spa but they do offer a DVC discount.

I've done the mani/pedi at Periwigs.. DD has had a massage at the Ship Shape Club. DD said it's the best massage she's had and she's had a lot!! I forget the name of the girl, but my daughter said she was so good that she actually went back a few days later for another! The mani/pedi was not what I'm used to... I always have that done before I go to Disney. I have however had reflexology at SSR and that was pretty good. ~N

Spa was very nice. Pedi prices were in line with the nice spas by me in NJ, not nail places, but spas. It was 55 plus gratuity for 45 minutes. The 15% AP discount made it even nicer. The massage chairs are comfortable and my feet felt refreshed. Staff was very helpful & friendly. Not a huge selection of polishes, but enough. It was definitely a relaxing atmosphere, but I was basically the only client!!! I would go back for sure.

Review of pedicure from Ship Shape Spa at Y&BC

what are everyones thought on the yacht club room renovations being done by the end of october??

The lounge in May 2015 was just two doors down from our room. I'd heard they eliminated one room on the floor to expand the lounge during the renovation; can someone confirm that?

And yes, the lounge has a balcony.

ETA Beaten to the punch! Thanks, Nate, that layout is super helpful and much appreciated! :thanks:

Thanks for asking this! I would not have thought about it and we would have been in trouble without a tub!

They did take a room for the Yacht Club cl renovation. Same as they did at Beach Club when it was renovated. So it's much bigger:)

I know with the spa at Swan/Dolphin, you can request either a masseuse (female) or masseur (male). It doesn't matter to them. They have rooms where there are two tables set up, so you can be with your son. I would assume it might be similar at YC.

:thumbsup2 It's the YC you have to watch out for then, some of those rooms are being refurbed shower only (that much I found searching, guess I didn't find anything searching BC because there wasn't anything to find :) )

Thanks so much for the floor plan. I am working on my room request. I would love a room with 2 Queen Beds and a Daybed. Ideally on an upper floor...with any luck we might get a new room. Touring Plans says that 4153 is a Garden View. Your map shows it as a Water View. We have a reservation for Garden View. Any room suggestions?
Thanks again!!
