Absolutely! We've been to Disney's theme parks many times so the resort portion is really important. A minor change in decor probably wouldn't matter but if you have seen the difference between what the Disney website shows and what the poster on page 742 posted with the sample room, it is really dramatic. Previously, the rooms were light, nautical and whimsical, mostly white and blue. Now they are mostly white and brown, with a lot of brown. For some, that would be an improvement. For us it is not. We had already been torn between YC and BC but went with YC based on the theming of the room even thought the BC is closer to Epcot (which we like). The other main draw (Stormalong Bay) is available at either resort. We had also considered just staying at the Poly throughout because we originally weren't going to do a split stay but were having such a hard time deciding between Poly and YC. I've sent an email to my TA and if we can get BC in place of YC we will go that route.
My sister (also going) thinks perhaps the new room decor is to appeal more to the conference attendees. That makes sense to me. We stayed at YC for a week once for a conference several years ago and I can see a lot of my peers enjoying the new rooms.
Also, it's not like I'm cancelling my trip... just changing the resort. Yes, it would very much effect how much my daughter, my sister and I enjoy the resort. It was really based on the room decor that it was chosen over BC.
