Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Thanks you for sharing your beautiful pics. We love the YC . Only one question...what did you do with all the people in the lounge??? I can never get pics of the food without people getting in the way. :rotfl:

Thank you! I'm glad they turned out OK. As for the empty lounge, I honestly have zero clue how I lucked up on that one! There were a few people in and out as I took the photos, but I hung out patiently and tried not to look too conspicuous standing around with my phone in my hand waiting for them to leave. LOL

I really enjoyed your review, Ewoks. Thank you for taking the time to compose it. Three questions for you if you have a moment: Was there a handheld sprayer in the shower? Did you mind having no carpeting? The floor looks slippery and maybe cold. Also, is it true there is no tub? Thank you very much in advance.

I'm so happy you enjoyed it!!! Yes, there was a handheld spray head in the shower along with the mounted one. They were very nice. Personally I didn't mind having no carpet. It felt clean and sleek, but luckily not slippery. I walked barefoot on it a few times without even thinking about it, something I'd never do in a regular carpeted hotel room. There was a texture to the material so it gripped well. No slipping! It wasn't cold either, which was great. Our room was a King room, so no tub. That seems to be the new standard for King rooms. I'm not sure if the double Queen rooms have one or not.

Such great info! I am a never without shoes, fliflops in a hotel room. I feel like the flooring is far more sanitary than carpet could ever be so I'm super happy to see that. I love the walk in shower too! In general I cannot wait for our stay in May.

57 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost 56!!!! All checked in, fastpasses made, dining ready to go, just paid the whole trip off a month early AND! My best friend is coming with her family for their first on site stay too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a little excited! Excited for a quick peek in at AoA as well...just for one quick night thanks to AH-mazing flight deal! I think my kids will love the atmosphere for the first day...but realistically, they are like us and prefer BC! lol.

@natebenma I asked a lifeguard yesterday about indoor showers & changing room for resort guest. She said they are taking a part of the arcade and making a place just for that for the guests but it is not completed yet and she wasn't sure when it would be. She said for now the only thing available are the outdoor showers. As my daughter and I were walking to the bathroom next to the arcade I could here them working in there so hopefully that will happen soon ( like before our return in June :))
We arrived yesterday morning via ME ( my first time). We had to wait a little while as for more people to arrive to board the bus but we were the first to board and we got the front seats!! The drop offs lists in the sign were Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Boardwalk. Beach Club was the first drop off, wooho! Our room wasn't ready as it was only about 10ish but I did make sure we had a full balcony, which we did. Josie & I headed over to Epcot for some breakfast and to upgrade to Annual Passes :cool1:! We then went back to the resort for a little swim and tonwait for my mom to arrive . I received the room ready text about 12:30ish so we decided to head up there. We booked a standard view room and that is what we got, roof top view looking straight, look right and we see Stormalong Bay. We have a corner room and our balcony is huge!! We are a little ways from the elevator but it's not too bad at all. We can smell Cape May in th hallway, I believe we are right over it on the third floor, but can't smell it at all in the room! Once we got to the room I called for our groceries, bell services was actually on the way with our luggage so after he dropped that off he went back for our food!! I used Safeway and was completely satisfied with them, I will for sure use them again in June!! I even ordered a dozen roses for my mom as this is a birthday trip for her.

If you have a questions I will try and get answers/pictures for you!!

Ps I found a use for the "tower" on the table

Here is what is currently available for guests using Stormalong Bay. I have never used these showers (or seen anyone who has), so I have no personal knowledge about them. When I use SAB on checkout day, I change into dry clothes in the large bathroom just inside the hallway near Beaches & Cream.

The spa/health club is run by a private (non-Disney) company and I think it is an absolutely ridiculous policy that they will not allow guests of the resort to use the locker room/showers unless they have a spa appointment or they are working out. I don't care about showering after using the pool, but for those who do, I suggest you go in anyway and try to use the showers. If they try to stop you and say you can't, be incredulous when you question why guests of the resort are unable to use onsite resort facilities. And keep dripping on their floors.

:scared:

I have heard so many mixed messages about whether the poolside locker room/shower project has been started or when it will be completed. Originally we were told it would be done October 2016. When I was there in mid-October, I was told they were just moving things out of the arcade in anticipation of the project. I thought others had reported that parts of the arcade are blocked off and that perhaps the showers would be open sometime in April.

Would somebody who is there now, or soon be willing to check on the project??? Not sure who to ask- I checked with someone on the recreation staff.

:fish:

From Post 13:

Can I use Stormalong Bay on my checkout day?

Yes! You will still have your Magic Band after you check out, and you still need to use before entering the pool area. You can store large bags with Bell Services. Recent reports are that only guests of the spa may use the lockers and showers in the health club. There are some lockers for use in the pool area near Beaches & Cream and outdoor showers poolside.

Th "health club" is available to everyone, but complimentary to club level guests, correct? I was just curious what the fee is if you're not club level. Because I am that girl that would be incredulous. And I would be getting a quick shower if we chose to use SAB on our departing day. Granted we stay club level as often as possible, and under these circumstances, given the fact that the health club is part of the stay, use of the treadmill, weights or shower is all the same to me if it's all part of the health club. At least they are addressing this and building something. I've never seen anyone in the arcade when passing by. Showers make more sense to me than pacman.
Ok, I've dated myself there, but you get what I mean

The "Health Club" and the "Spa" are two separate entities. The Health Club is available to all guests. You pay to book a treatment at the Spa. It is neither owned nor operated by Disney.
Being a guest of the resort does not entitle you to use the Spa free of charge.
I hope the new showers are ready for your visit.

I wanted to send room requests to my TA for our May BC stay. I definitely want full balcony. With 5 of us in the room, the little extra space will be nice. I've read about the Cape May Cafe smell in the halls above the restaurant. Is there any area I can request that would avoid this? We actually have a dinner ADR here that I'm re-thinking because of the smell. Not a big deal for 4 of us but I have 1 non-seafood eater that might be bothered by the fishy smell. Is it so bad that the smell stays on your hair & clothes even after you leave? Thanks!

I was talking about just the health club. I know the spa is separate, booked and paid for services. I dont feel entitled to a free massage or manicure. I had no misconceptions regarding the SPA. Just following along and commenting regarding use of the shower facility at the health club, perhaps the showers aren't separate and are used for both the spa and workout room. I don't need the showers personally, was just opining on the issue of showering on departure day. Seems a worthwhile issue for quite a few guests, and friends that frequent YBC.

Thank you so much for checking about the shower room status. I really appreciate it.

Keep us posted on the hallway aroma- let us know if you are smelling it all day or just in the evening.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of your mom and the flowers and that oh-so-useful shelf!

(too bad there isn't a clock on there. just sayin')

:goodvibes

The last two BC rooms I have been assigned have not had the "tower of terror" on the night stand. Neither room was Club Level. The rooms were on different floors. Of course, neither room had a clock, either, unless you count the one I brought. :)

I believe the exercise equipment in the health club is both available and free to use to all resort guests.

Guests who have worked out are able to use the showers after exercising.

Does anyone know if the spa guests have access to showers other than the ones in the health club locker room? There is a thread here on the resort boards I posted to yesterday about the restrictive policy at the Ship Shape Health Club. Someone commented that there were complaints at the SSR spa because children were running around the locker room there and using the hot tub in the spa area, understandably upsetting guests who had paid for relaxing spa services.

I haven't done any of the treatments offered at the resort spa and I have used the locker room once to change, but not sure if the showers are shared between the health club and the spa

To not confuse the issue - I'm nearly certain that there are NO separate showers at the health club at all. Currently, until construction is finished on the new space, the only showers at the YC/BC are in the spa. These showers, in the spa, are not available to SAB guests to use.
Hope this helps clear up the issue a bit. (I know it doesn't solve the issue :-) )

My husband is not a fan of seafood, but I am and he humored me for dinner at Cape May. He did say he felt like you do when you leave dinner at a Teppanyaki room. The odor is pretty strong imo. I made the error of wearing a silk blouse to dinner. And it did smell like food but that is the nature of a silk to absorb everything. It's really good though! And there are tons of options for non seafood eaters. :)

That does help a bit. I thought the showers were right there in the locker room. But I think I am assuming that more than remembering that. I was in the locker room once, just to change (and take discreet pictures, of course).

I can see that being a big issue for guests who've paid for a fairly expensive treatment, to have the disruption and certainly children shouldn't be running about and unsupervised. Makes perfect sense if they're in the spa and shared with the gym, to try to control access. At least there is a resolution on the way:)

We just booked BC for 5/12-17! So excited...first time staying deluxe. We have a 1 day water park ticket that we'd like to try & use. How would we get from BC to BB or TL (leaning toward BB) using Disney transportation? About how long would it take? What about the return trip? I'm thinking of doing a 1/2 day at HS with early emh then hitting the water park in the afternoon or doing the water park on our departure day since we'll have a later flight. The ticket was a freebie so if it goes un-used, no big deal. I would rather spend departure day at MK since we only have 1 MK day but I think the kids would rather do the waterpark. We'll let them decide (once we tell them about the trip). Thanks!

To get to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon you will need to take a bus to Disney's Animal Kingdom (for Blizzard Beach) or a bus to Disney Springs (for Typhoon Lagoon) and switch busses at those locations.

The spa is the only location that has showers available. However, due to the lack of space, they are only for Guests who have booked an appointment at the spa. As posted multiple times there are showers being built currently for Guest use, however they are not complete. There are currently not any showers available for Guests to use after using the fitness center either, as it would be expected for Guests to go back to the their Guest room to shower after using the fitness center (most people don't work out between the check-out time and the time they leave).
