Would you switch our dates from Aug 17-22 at YC to Aug 17-22 at BC?

I really do think my favorite resort for a million different reasons is YC, but we can't ignore those absolutely gorgeous renovations that BC did last year, and since YC is about to get a facelift, and we're probably going to just stay there forever at that point, we thought, "Let's do BC while those rooms are still fresh and new!" I'm a little bit nervous about stepping out of my comfort zone, meaning everything was all planned, we were expecting YC, etc...but I'm very excited!

Now to go make a new ticker that will be the fastest moving ticker ever!

It sounds like a great room. We booked a magical standard view and I'm hoping it turns out to be a decent location.

But I don't think that the Beach Club has any dumpster views. The huge flat roof gets in the way

I know there's no actual "dumpster" views...I merely joke and like to compare it to some of the worse roof views..lol

Nice view! I think you definitely got an upgrade from standard view to garden view. We had a similar view last year and were in room 4614. I loved the room but wasn't crazy about the Roman shades; they let in too much light.

Sooooo we are at MK today, and I do believe our smooth sailing and luck just ran out!

My youngest DD just dropped her iPhone in the water at "It's a Small World" ride . She's in tears and I'm ready to pull my hair out!! Thankfully she has insurance although the deductible will cost HER a pretty penny....off to try & find a T-Mobile store...ugh!

Last year, when I stayed in a newly-refreshed room at the BC for the first time, I was given an upgrade to a water view, which faced the quiet pool and Boardwalk. It was a very nice view and location and not very far from the exit closer to EPCOT. The room did not have a sliding patio door, but, rather, window and door. Instead of having the former building standard room-darkening and sheer draw draperies, the door lite and window were covered by Roman fold shades.

Because of safety issues, extremely bright flood lights around the quiet pool remained lit, from dusk to dawn. Due to the improper measuring and mounting of the shades, there were big light gaps, which allowed the bright lights to enter the room, making it almost impossible to sleep. If you look at the shade on the door, it should have been made at least one inch wider on either side; this could have been done, without interfering with any door hardware. The mounting was also too far away from the surface, creating sizeable light gaps. The shade on the window had light gap issues, as well.

I have since stayed in other BC rooms, with the same shades and same problem.

I mentioned my concerns to a few CMs, who said they would pass the information along. Let's hope that the YC does not make the same mistakes.

I agree, definitely a cost saving measure. Thankfully, we had a room on the third floor on our most recent stay. That room had a slider with the drapes that let in no light when closed.

Hi all. Staying at BC for the first time in Jan over the marathon weekend. We were convinced to take a water view by our travel agent, but I've heard conflicting arguments for wether it's worth it over say a garden view. Anybody got any experience with this? Does a water view guarantee a decent view of lake, or could it be mainly of the pool. Apologies as I'm sure this has been asked before.

So I like both Because it does not matter of what the view is. But if you want a sunrise and a sunset view I suggest a water view.

Now that we are staying at BC, I do have one question, and it's about the air-conditioning. This was the only problem I had with the otherwise *stunning* refurb at the resort. Last year, we had come from the CR, where the AC was practically arctic (the way I like it!), and the room at BC was uncomfortably warm. There were very new-looking thermostats, which we seemed unable to set below 72 degrees. In fact, we were told they were motion sensitive and despite my doing ridiculous dances in the middle of the night, I couldnt get it to flip on....and in fact the temp climbed steadily throughout the night. On night #1, I went to the front desk and asked what could be done....nothing, other than I was told to buy a balloon (at midnight) and that would hopefully trip the sensor. So, we sweated through night 1. On night 2, I went back to the desk, and politely, but firmly explained the situation again and within 10 min, there was a maintenance man in our room who fixed it, telling us that he'd pushed the temperature lower than he should have, (a whopping 68) and that it would stay that way for 72 hrs.
For me, this isn't ok as it's very hot in FL in August, and I expect my room to be frosty cold if I want it to be. Does anyone have any ideas of how to do something about the AC without having to make a pest of oneself at the front desk?

I stayed at OKW a couple of years ago and they had the same shades (which I may or may not have broken). Could it be a DVC thing for doors?
