Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hi! We're looking at the BC for a trip in early June next year. I'm slowly making my way through the entire thread but wanted to go ahead and ask about strategies for families of five. My husband and I have a boy who will be 9 and two teenage girls who will be 17 & 18. We're considering renting DVC points and going for a two bedroom unit but probably won't have the money to pay for it in time since we're mostly paying for the trip with a late winter bonus. Is there any real chance of a two bedroom unit being available for rent on points in mid March? Also has someone posted any pictures of the refurbished two bedrooms yet? I'm assuming they're very similar in design to the refurbished one bedrooms but it'd be grand to see pictures. We may be able to shell out for two normal rooms should the whole DVC thing not work out but how horribly cramped would we be putting all five of us in one room? We stayed in an AoA suite on our last trip (in '13) and I loved it but the girls want to be close to Epcot this time.

Thanks!

If you went the one room route, you should be fine. There are 2 queen size beds in the room, which will cover the 4 older ones and your 9 year old can sleep in the extra sofa/bed in the room. The rooms aren't huge but when you are at Disney, you really don't spend a lot of time in the room. Our family of 5 is spending 10 nights at the BC standard room this August and not worried about room at all.

We spent 10 days in one room with 5 people, 4 adults and 1 child. It really wasn't that bad except that my mom and dad snore really loud :rotfl2:.
We didn't feel cramped at all, but we weren't in the room a whole lot and all of us are pretty easy going.

Food wise...I'm still hoping that FFC changes its mind and opens while we're there (8/14-22). It'll be our 10th anniversary, and we've had our anniversary dinner there for the past 5 years or so, and would love to continue the tradition!

I hope it's open for you!

I was hoping we could book a trip for next year, but it might have to wait until 2018. Hopefully not later. My husband doesn't want to do Disney again until more of the new stuff has opened. I'm having a hard time believing Avatar will be ready by next summer. He'd be fine waiting for Star Wars land. I definitely can't wait that long, though.

I believe the chances of getting a 2 BR BCV at 6 to 8 weeks in advance is slim to none. Especially in June.
In a single room your two teen girls would need to share one queen bed. Will that work for them?
Families of 5 do get preference for the rooms with the sofa/day bed, but it is not guaranteed to be available. There are folks here who reported getting a roll away bed for the 5th person and this making the room very crowded. I think the chance of getting a day bed is pretty good - but not a guarantee.
Lots of families of 5 stay comfortably is a single room
Good Luck

No those are the selections for all of the rooms.

If you want to request something like "Daybed, please" or "King bed, if possible" you need to call your requests in to Disney reservations. You can do this anytime, so now is fine. Best to do this before the week of your trip when the rooms are assigned.

If you booked with a travel agent, they will need to add your requests to your reservation. These requests, like the ones on the online checkin, are not guaranteed. Based on availability at the resort when you are checking in.

:goodvibes

Thank you! I have emailed my travel agent, and updated my touring plans fax (ensuring that they both match).

41 Days until I check in... which means 31 days till my wedding

Also, to make you all chuckle: I went on a job interview last week. Wore mickey mouse boxer shorts and socks. Got the job. Coincidence?

That's so sweet. Richard, the full time greeter at the BC retired a month or so ago too. He was replaced with a super guy who worked with us in HR ...Monty. He is wonderful ... sweetest guy ever. If you have time, stop and say hi!!! As far as my position, I heard they have been filling it with whoever is available ... bellmen, etc. I miss seeing you all so much. I had hoped to be there forever but you all know that life can change in a second.

But I am looking forward to our trip back to Anna Maria Island in Florida on July 23rd ... two more weeks!!! And then a week later back on the Disney Fantasy. Then a month later, Lily and I will be at Disney World for 6 nights. I do not think I will stop in at the BC (we are staying at the Cabins) because it would be too hard for me ... just like I can't ride by our old house in Clermont. I loved it so much and I can't imagine seeing it again ... too hard. Maybe another year or two. I'm crying now just thinking about it.

:grouphug: It's early days Teena. Give yourself time to grieve and in the meantime just keep swimming. We're all thinking of you. Celebrate the good and take care of yourself and your girls. Lots of happy times ahead:goodvibes

That's great to hear. I suppose I'm mostly worried about bathroom time but neither of my girls are supergirly makeup/hair types so as long as I put them on a timer for showers maybe we'd be fine.

Another option if finances allow can be a club level room. When there were 5 of us to a room it was great to have the extra space the lounge provided plus made getting breakfast so easy. I usually got washed and dressed first and escaped ther with the youngest for cartoons, food and most importantly ( for me) hot tea :thumbsup2. Either way we've done 5 to a room many times no bother with or without club :goodvibes[/QUOTE]

Heading back to YC again for Food & Wine with my 2 awesome daughters Sep. 19-22. My husband and I were just there in May celebrating our anniversary and can't wait to be back "home". Yippie!:flower3:

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Got it! Got it! Just waiting on confirmation # but our DVC rental through David's is a go! Helps to take away the sting of the awful prices for our flights. Feb break will be in Disney!

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the list for February.

:woohoo:

Excited about our Disney trip and our stay at Disney's Beach Club Resort!! This will be our first time at the Beach club. Any suggestions or tips? It will be my family of 7, including 2 teen DD, 2 elementary DD, and our Kindergarten DS...

:welcome:

When is your trip?

Will you be staying in a couple of rooms at the resort, a suite or one of the villas?

:thumbsup2

Pretty sure you have spotters posted around both resorts.

Keep the questions coming folks. The Rapid Resort Answer Team is ready! :dogdance:

True that!

It's not always at the Yacht & Beach but I am pretty sure that at almost every single day of the year I know somebody who is vacationing at the World.

Friends from my town leave today on a trip I helped them plan because it is their first time.

:goodvibes

And Ms Dee........ when you get a chance could you go ahead and stick our 9th annual MickeyT and Family marathon week trip on the list.
Disney's Beach Club Villas
January 4, 2017 - January 9, 2017
That time of year again!

Absolutely!!!

Coincidentally, the next update on my Whistle While We Work report will recount that time I met my favorite lizard! And then officially joined the family.

:grouphug:

The Beach Club resort room map is awesome! Great score. Quick question. We have the magical deal and thus a standard room at BC in August. We have never stayed at BC, only YC many times but are excited for the refurbed room. Has anyone ever stayed in the rooms on the second floor overtop of the front entrance/valet. I know at YC they are shared balcony rooms, but wondering if they are large balconies at BC or not. On the map they are side ways (four of them) so they may be shared balconies like YC but I can't tell for sure. It is a standard view and that's what we can only get with our deal. The room numbers are 2672-2664-2662-2654- and then 2652-2650-2648. They seem easy enough to get to lobby (hoping for) and standard view. We have multiple rooms in our family and do always hope to be near each other for convenience of the elders and babies. Would try to request these rooms but can't figure out if they are full balconies or not. Thanks! Best thread here and thanks Dee for all your hard work!

Not that I am aware of. I'll see if I can find out.

::yes::

Just saw a report that starting July 11th there will be concrete construction near the Yacht Club bus stop lasting about 3 weeks. During that time, the YC bus stop will be at the convention center's porte cochere.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll put a breaking news update with the transportation info.

That isn't an option we'd considered. My adorable husband kind of lost his mind trying to chose between all the various options and made a spreadsheet to keep track so I'll get him to add that. :rotfl: They have better coffee than the normal refillable mug coffee in the CL lounge?

page 569-570

Loved how Chef Chris went out of his way for our daughter with food allergies in May. So much so that we changed our reservation to BC CL will staying there for our already planned July trip and will be back in 14 days!!

:welcome: back! I'll put you in as a last minute addition to the list.

:cool1:
Did they replace Teena (even though she can't be replaced) at the BC:dogdance:? How is this greeter?

We stayed in room 5657 water view, full balcony 2 doors down from the CL lounge at BC in Dec. This room was perfect, 1 queen bed and a pull out sofa bed. Overlooking the lagoon and the back entrance - perfect for people watching!!! Would love to be in that room again in Nov!!

:rainbow::rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:

Any pictures?

::yes::

Just moved our reservation from BWI to BC CL for the end of the month!!! I've been trying and trying to get a discounted room there and finally was able to get one tonight! 2 weeks until check in!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:thumbsup2

Dropping by to let everyone know we will be coming October 4-7th at the Yacht Club and then Dec 24-29th Beach Club CL

:welcome: back and :welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

Looks like I have 2 Beach Club stays coming up!

September 20-28 (Family vacation)
February 22-28 (Princess HM with mom)

Standard room for both and super excited

:welcome: back and :welcome: back!

Twice is nice!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool2:

I'm so excited to be officially joining this group! Just recently booked Feb 25- March 2 at BCV!! This will be a mother/daughter trip with my DD 18, and our very first BC stay, So excited! Love, love, love this thread! :wave2:

:welcome: and thanks for your kind words!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Sorry my edit has updated this for you, my brain has become mush since being off work recovering from surgery ( I'm a high risk for pulmonary embolism apparently it's managed with medication and less stress). I hope this made things clearer.

Hope your recovery is complication-free!

I've always found the lounge to be a nice way for the kids to escape one another. I was pricing out a vacation for this August (realizing it's not happening but when I don't have actual dates to play with I like to price out a trip, anyway). I could rent points for a 2 BR villa (there are six of us). Get two standard rooms at BC for a couple grand less, or book a deluxe room at BWI for less than the villa. I realize the discount might not be there next year, but I was trying to get a general idea. I don't know that I'd try for the two rooms since Disney can't guarantee they'd connect. The BC deluxe rooms only sleep five and the 1 BR only sleeps four, which just seems weird to me. The 2 BR suite is way more than I'd be willing to spend, short of winning the lottery and even then I'd just buy into DVC. I can just hear my kids moaning about the creepy clown pool, but my husband would likely go for it. Slightly larger room and the lounge for breakfast and less cost than renting points. With aging parents, I'm more reluctant to rent points and then worry about having to get my money back through trip insurance.

 I can only imagine that would be very hard.

Hope your recovery is complication-free!
Aww thank you so much! This group is so genuinely friendly and kind it's amazing to be a part of all this:disrocks::grouphug:Im using my time between home physio and here to plan our next year's holiday . There is so much to wrap my head around with all the WDW changes and new restaurants etc..:thumbsup2 Definitely a great way to while away the days.

Will miss u TEENA, you were awesome when we were last there in 2011. Going to be there in 18 days and I will make sure to say hi to Monty

Our teen DD's love the freedom to go to SAB, walk around Crescent Lake, wander in and out of Epcot on their own (usually to get a treat from France bakery or spend money at Japan store/pavilion). Have fun - such a great resort!
We will be there in 18 days and I have 2 16 year old boys and 2 13 year old girls. Wondering if they will want to hang with us......

Dee, would you be able to edit my BC stay in the Be Our Guest please?

We are now.... BC CL, Dec 30-Jan 8 party:

We're still doing the cruise beforehand, but DH and I got talking and decided that during a peak holiday stretch we'd rather do a long stay at BC than go off to the unknown at Universal. At BC, if the parks are too crowded we will be more than content to hang out at Stormalong Bay and graze off the club level offerings instead. At Universal, we'd feel obligated to fight the crowds and see everything since we haven't been in probably 15 years or so. Although, I don't know if it'll be too busy, since I was easily able to shuffle ADRs and even move stuff like Be Our Guest and Ohana to different nights. Maybe it won't be too crowded, but either way we both agreed that BC is where we'd rather spend our anniversary.

18 days and I will be home at BCV. I cannot wait! Recent turn of events, my 13 year old daughter was bringing a friend and that friend broke her fibula/leg. Getting cast off 4 days before we leave then going in a walking boot. Shes not going now and we had to scramble to find someone else ( we did find someone and she is my daughters best friend since she was 4). Unfortuntely I had already paid for our tickets and now I am stuck with the original girls cost. I did not ask my daugthers best friend to pay anything as it was so last minute. I am sure they will give me something but not sure of how much. I got the ticket money from her friend awhile ago and had to paysome of credit card that I charged the tickets to. Do u think its wrong of me to just give them half back? Should I wait and see what her best friends parents will give me? Totally stincks for the original friend but I am out money now.....

Personally I would try to return the money she paid you. It was an accident that is preventing her from going, not just backing out for no good reason.
Hope it works out for you
