Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

We too enjoyed CCL for both breakfast and dinner they cooked everything fresh and refilled very frequently on the breakfast buffet dishes or you could ask for something specific to enjoy, dinner was great quality food with a nice quiet atmosphere and yet we were still looked after by our server who wasn't at all over doing things like some places I can think of. It made a pleasant evening dining experience after being in the parks all day and nursing tired heads and feet. Can I just say I hope they managed to fix those gorgeous moving pictures on the walls of the yachts on the seas, they were fun for the kids to watch and were very unique we've never seen them anywhere else before or since!

I assume by CCL you are referring to Crew's Cup Lounge. The breakfast buffet is at Captain's Grill. The 3 moving pictures are also at Captain's Grill. Just not sure which place you are reporting on.

Crew's Cup is next to Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Captain's Grill is off the lobby.

Our last full day! If you are at storm along bay two things:

1) apparently they started offering all drinks in a pineapple for an extra $4.00 a day or so ago. How cool

2) Stacy is an incredible server! Took such good care of us for the past few days. I will be stopping by the front desk to make sure her management knows!

Great vacation!

Is Crews Cup Lounge even open for breakfast? I don't think so. I agree, a bit confusing

So, I just watched a Dis Podcast from about a year or so ago, where they discussed YC for 51 minutes. To say I was in heaven would be putting it lightly. It made that time on the elliptical fly by! Opinions are just that, they are what they are. I agreed with some sentiments, not with others. This team doing the podcast seems to be BC-blue through and through, so the overall tone was the Marcia/Jan Brady comparison I remember NinjaMom making a couple of years back, but I did want to comment on one thing. One woman discussing the YC was saying how the story of how SAB got it's name was one of the silliest Disney has ever come up with, making up a pirate named Stormalong, and saying he crashed at YC/BC. Well, some of you know I teach elementary school, and every year I teach a story called "Stormalong" by Mary Pope Osbourne (of "Magic Treehouse" fame), and indeed, this is a real legend!

May I offer this link, and y'all will see that Disney wasn't being so lazy after all. I'd love to email this woman (and the podcast team) with this information, but don't want to be "too" much of a know-it-all! :rolleyes1

I just watched this one and the BC one, too to help pass the time until my upcoming trip. Thanks for the information about pirate Stormalong! I think the person you are talking about doesn't work for the Dis anymore, but it's very cool that he was a real legend, not just a Disney one. His story definitely fits with the New England theme of the resorts!

From allears Nov. 2015: Notes:
THIS IS AN ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET DINNER

Hours are Seasonal 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Maybe someone who was there in April/May 2016 will have a better answer for you. :)

I randomly just typed in Christmas Day, and I could get a 9:25. Hoping it's open later in the Spring as well!

Food wise...I'm still hoping that FFC changes its mind and opens while we're there (8/14-22). It'll be our 10th anniversary, and we've had our anniversary dinner there for the past 5 years or so, and would love to continue the tradition!

Thanks for sharing this, Scott! I will have to remember this if any of the classes I work in next year do a unit on tall tales. ( I am in Sp. Ed. and work in different elementary grades)
I hope you get your Flying Fish wish!!

It is so bizarre. I was offered it in August 2015 and then they had to confess they were out of sparkling wine. I did have it when we came back from the water park later that day.

We checked into YC-CL in August 2014, and because it was so early in the morning, they offered us a mimosa. Wheeeee! I have a pic, but I forget how to upload directly from my laptop photo cache.

Sorry my edit has updated this for you, my brain has become mush since being off work recovering from surgery ( I'm a high risk for pulmonary embolism apparently it's managed with medication and less stress). I hope this made things clearer.

Sending good thoughts your way as you continue to recover. :daisy:

I've just completed online check in - the only options I got for "Add room and amenity requests" are Ground Floor, Upper Floor, Lower Floor, Near an elevator - I don't have the ability to free type anything anywhere, or add an amenity request - is this normal? Is it to do with only having booked a standard view room?

I check in on August 23rd - do I need to do amenity / free type stuff closer to the time?

No those are the selections for all of the rooms.

If you want to request something like "Daybed, please" or "King bed, if possible" you need to call your requests in to Disney reservations. You can do this anytime, so now is fine. Best to do this before the week of your trip when the rooms are assigned.

If you booked with a travel agent, they will need to add your requests to your reservation. These requests, like the ones on the online checkin, are not guaranteed. Based on availability at the resort when you are checking in.

Hi! We're looking at the BC for a trip in early June next year. I'm slowly making my way through the entire thread but wanted to go ahead and ask about strategies for families of five. My husband and I have a boy who will be 9 and two teenage girls who will be 17 & 18. We're considering renting DVC points and going for a two bedroom unit but probably won't have the money to pay for it in time since we're mostly paying for the trip with a late winter bonus. Is there any real chance of a two bedroom unit being available for rent on points in mid March? Also has someone posted any pictures of the refurbished two bedrooms yet? I'm assuming they're very similar in design to the refurbished one bedrooms but it'd be grand to see pictures. We may be able to shell out for two normal rooms should the whole DVC thing not work out but how horribly cramped would we be putting all five of us in one room? We stayed in an AoA suite on our last trip (in '13) and I loved it but the girls want to be close to Epcot this time.

Thanks!
