Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Two weeks to go! I'm getting antsy to start packing!

I have also read in multiple articles that the only watercraft that was currently running again is the MK ferry. We have one of the pirate's cruises booked for DD so I'm hoping she'll still get to do that, she's really been looking forward to it. I also hope the beach is opened up by then, we were wanting to go to the 4th of July beach party. Has anyone heard anything about the beaches? I have read that they are going to change the "no swimming" signs but nothing about them reopening.

The only thing I have heard about the beaches is that they are temporarily closed.

As far as water transportation, I read that ferry is running but the marinas around WDW are closed. As far as I know, the Friendship boats to HS and EPCOT are running but that is just an assumption on my part. Can anyone confirm this?

::yes::

page 530-533

Is there any credible information on when/if the water transportation will reopen? I'm trying to decide on a resort for a quick trip at the end of July. Group would probably really enjoy proximity to EP and HS. I know walk is quick to EP, but not so quick to HS if boats are not running. Thanks!

:welcome: to the thread.

Let us know if you book a trip here.

:cool1:

I don't think the Friendship boat service has been affected, but waiting for confirmation from somebody who is there now.

::yes::

We arrive BCV on 7/2/16 and stay until 7/13/2016

Thanks! Will add you to the list next time I update.

:woohoo:

April is a hard month for us.

 to you!

Debating switching reservation in September to Beach Club - how close is the car parking to the rooms? I know when I stay at Port Orleans - its very close.

Soooo to lighten the mood?

Remember I was asking for advice on wearing a cute dis tank/shorts to the lounge bc they were Jammie's? Apparently I had nothing to worry about bc we saw a handful of Brazilian bikini bottoms at SAB!! Dupahs hanging all out for the kids to see ay yi yi

Yikes. I had a rather mortifying experience on one trip with a relative, whose inability to hold liquor made itself known at Epcot. In hindsight, WDW was clearly the worst vacation destination for this person. After a few too many samples at F&W, she attempted to climb over the bars of the queue at SE and failed miserably. She was wearing a muumuu and a straw hat with flowers on it and ended up flat on her back with her skirt over her ears. There was not much left to the imagination. Just picture a drunken Mrs. Roper wearing a thong and you've pretty much got the picture. It was beyond embarrassing. I got her situated and sat with her through the ride, muttering all the while that she had no right to ruin everyone's vacation and swatting her in the leg periodically to keep her awake. It might have been mean, but she sort of deserved it. After that, we left the park and took her back to the room for a much-needed nap. Needless to say, while I dearly love this person, I will never vacation with her again.

Mrs. Roper hahahahaha great visual!

Never too soon to lighten the mood. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do to make something better, but bringing a smile to someone's face is always welcome.

I will join you- here is a story of my late night swim at SAB in non-traditional swimwear. Includes some night pictures of SAB.

SAB Pajama Party

:fish:

LOL I can't remember if I'd read that one before or not. Too funny!

Thank you for the kind words, and I want to add my appreciation for everyone here for not going down the dark paths that pop up too quickly.

Tara- my thoughts are with you and your family for the difficulties of this year.

:grouphug:

Thank you. ❤️

April is a hard month for us. Pop had a stroke this year (fortunately a "mini-stroke &that's recovered well) and is the anniversary of losing Mom. Topped with I was sick (for over a month) and have been physically and mentally exhausted. The past week has been difficult, living in Orlando area. Hearing about your daughter 's friend just makes me want to hug you and your daughter. So I am sending mental hugs, which are safer since I think that sinus infection is back again.
Like others, I love this thread where even in times of sadness, love and friendship shine through. Thanks to all!
Sarah

Thank you for your kind words. I'm sorry your family had a rough April. And I can only imagine how hard it is to be in Orlando right now. Virtual hugs right back at you.

This was on the DIS Updates email this morning....
Walt Disney World ferry boats back in service; all other watercraft suspended

After this week’s tragic alligator attack at Disney’s Grand Floridian, there have been changes made to transportation options available at the Magic Kingdom resorts.

All resort beach areas and marinas are currently closed, with no reopening date announced.

Ferry boats are once again running between the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center, but all other watercraft on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon have been suspended.

There are additional buses running from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom to better accommodate all guests.

Hey guys. First time poster, long time lurker. I just booked a stay at the YC CL (our first stay near epcot property) for mid October for F&W and I'm really excited. I'm bringing my boyfriend as we'll be celebrating his early 30th birthday. I'm originally from south Florida so Disney isn't new to me, but he's lived in Texas his whole life and his last Disney trip was 15+ years ago. My question is, what can i do (both at YC and epcot) to make things extra special for him? He isn't a huge Disney person but he loves star wars and were really excited about the food and wine festival.

Tons of SW stuff at Hollywood Studios (just a quick walk or boat ride from YC) - the Star Tours ride, character meet & greets, exclusive merchandise and a nighttime fireworks show (filled with SW music and movie scenes)!! He could also build his own light saber and watch Darth Vader battle young padawans. There are also SW themed snacks and drinks. Plan at least an evening there for him to get his Star Wars fix!!!

@natebenma can you remove gottalovepluto from the Nov Be Our Guest listing?

Alas, my best friend will be unable to get the time off work the trip would require this year. So sad we're not hitting F&W again this year, and even more sad about BC, but after everything I've learned here BC/YC are at the top of my list for when we do make it back to F&W. (Admittedly we are consoling ourselves with our first ever Best Friends trip to Disneyland for Disneyland's Dapper Day as we both live in CA so now it's time to get pumped for that instead!)

ATTN: ANYONE LOOKING FOR A STANDARD ROOM AT BC Nov 10-14. I don't know how the cancellation process works but I will be cancelling my standard BC room for those dates tomorrow at 8am PST. Good luck to anyone here who might need it!

Fence is being constructed right now on gf beach there's a pic in another thread. Anyone at y & b now that can confirm if same is being built on beach club beach?

Thanks DisneyHomework, Tarak and Dee for the suggestions! Now I just have to settle on a flight. Our go to flight on Jetblue is almost 3x higher than usual so that's out. Guess we can't be lucky and get our direct flight. Oh well! Just so happy to be going at all.

If your bf is a cake person, you can also have a custom cake created. It can be delivered to your room or to a restaurant. In the Disboard section about restaraunts, there is a thread called Disney Cake Chatter Part IV and is a great resource. I am having a custom cake made for our lunch at Coral Reef and can't wait!
