Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I know! I was so surprised b/c when I checked the days prior, everything looked nice and open and I was optimistic. However, I think our date for arrival messed us up. We're not arriving until Monday, Labor Day, so I am guessing a lot of folks arrive over the weekend and stay for much longer (we are only staying until Saturday) and thus, times were claimed for the entire week by parties arriving the prior 2-3 days. If I had known about the FP+ system, I would have booked our arrival for Sunday instead of Monday. We would have been OK then!

I am stalking the necessary sites to see if I can find something for us. Will try to just get myself and my little one in (my two older ones would rather ride the Carousel than meet A&E ... well, maybe not THAT :p) so hopefully, it will be easier to find something for two instead of four.

And I've never heard of a birthday FastPass! I will have to inquire about that when we arrive at BC CL! Thanks for the tip!

I hope you can get one for her. Keep checking - you may luck out especially when you get within 45 days. Since that's pay-in-full day for many folks, that's when they start canceling packages.

I tell my kids to get me a list of the things they absolutely want to do or they'll be sad. Now it has to be doable things - not "stay in the castle suite" sort of stuff. And the three-year-old can't write yet, so no list for her. Her list would include things like "ride a unicorn," anyway. I do what I can to make the first thing on each list happen. My middle daughter always puts down "have fun spending time with my family." I never know if she's trying to butter me up (aw - how sweet that she just wants to hang with us!) or she knows there will lots of not-fun times. I can accommodate her number one in drips and drabs. Not much I can do about her older sister, who once had a pretty epic meltdown at the MK because Teagan (middle girl and classic peacemaker) was scared to go on Thunder Mountain. "It's always been my dream to go on Thunder Mountain with my sister." Dear lord in heaven. Really? She was 10 at the time. Teagan is scared of the Barnstormer. Time to get a new dream, I think. Or wait until your baby sister has more height to her. Oh, and in case any one is interested, I made everyone go on the Carousel of Progress.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon trip!

Maybe you should check out the quiet pool areas of the YC and the BC for those times you want to unwind and relax, and save SAB for the times you want to do more active pool stuff.

Thanks!

We will definitely look into that too! I've been going into research overdrive mode trying to find out everything I can for our trip. Looking into stormalong bay I've been seeing mentions of a few hot tub areas. I wasn't sure if any of those were more secluded, less crowded at times. But I'm sure even those are pretty packed with families!

Going off your suggestion of unwinding at the pool that brings me to another question. Let's say it's late after a long day at the parks and we do want to unwind at a pool. Is it possible to go for swims later in the night at either the quiet pool or SAB? Do both pools have strict closing times?

Your staying BC CL? (9/8-9/17). How old are your girls? Mine are 10 & 8 We are as well and we are going to MK as you know on the 9th. I wonder if CL can help with this issue? We have breakfast at 1900 PF at 8AM so we will not rope drop. I told my husband's nephew that he needs to get to MK at 8:15 and stay to the left and head right to A&E.

But, I will not let not seeing A&E bring down this trip. I have saved forever for it and I have tried to read as many tips as I can but with that I don't want to schedule us so much that we don't have time to just soak up the magic. I hope I picked a lower crowd time of year, the touring websites say we did but that FP for A&E say different. LOL
Here's is what I've heard, take it with a grain of salt: Because fall is less crowded, there will only be 1 set of sisters meeting instead of the 2 sets they have during the busy summer months. This makes A&E harder to FP in September than August. I ran into this same problem last October, where the was NO availability for our entire 6-day trip when I logged on at midnight at my 60 day mark. However, with a loooooot of stalking, I was able to eventually find availability - first by scheduling 4 overlapping singles, then I lucked into a 4-pack on a non-preferred day, and finally found overlapping singles on our preferred day and time. So don't give up and keep checking. Like ADRs, I've seen people schedule multiple FPs at their 60-day mark, then finalize their schedules and start dropping. There even used to be an "A&E cancellation" thread (not sure if there still is?). And if all else fails, you can definitely go at RD and expect a minimal wait in September. Good luck!!!

I have a 9 year old daughter. I understand your pain. My DD can be quite dramatic at times. lol

I also ask them what is their must do's.

DD chose BBB and lunch at CRT.

DS wants to do Splash over and over and go to Chef Mickey's.

Thank you for this. I am going to stalk the fast pass for his nephew, his window opens tonight and I am first going to try to get it one at a time. And if all else fails then he will have to go a rope drop.

Ok, new question, for my girls they want to meet Merida and Jasmine ( I have breakfast at Akershus for that) Any tips on meeting Merida?

My 10 year old's must do are Jasmine and Everest
My 8 year old's are Marie Kat & Merida, she wants to ask her why she wanted to turn her mom into a bear. I wonder if my daughter is looking for ideas, LOL Also she wants cotton candy. I wish I could get that delivered to the room or the club level lounge for breakfast. In a million years she would never think I would allow that. LOL!

Don't you just love the drama of girls! I have 3 of them as well and the oldest will be 18 in less than a month and she's the worse. In our case drama would get everyone a ride on its a small world! When we started talking about doing another trip youngest dd, 11, said "your not going to make us go on It's a Small World because those doll things are creepy"! I told her they should give them all axes for Halloween...ok Universal might do that but maybe not Disney. Last we went on it they all got into the boat and pull there hands up like they were going on a great roller-coaster. I have a very funny family

Here is the post from the FAQ section of this thread. I asked a lifeguard about 5 years ago what was allowed and this information is based on that response.

Can I bring a float from home to use at Stormalong Bay?

According to a lifeguard, July 2010 (and confirmed periodically):

Outside floats are NOT permitted for adults in SAB. Previously, floats were available for rent for $3/hour or $10 day. Beginning in 2013, floats are available for use without a fee. Life jackets are available, free of charge, near where the poolside giftshop used to be.

Pool noodles, either from home or purchased at the pool gift shop, may be used in SAB. Young children may use floats that surround their body if an adult is within arm's reach. These rules are subject to change and may be affected by crowd conditions.

Thank you so very much!

I've been lurking on this thread for the last few weeks in anticipation of our Yacht Club stay later this month. We've stayed Beach Club villas multiple times, but never at Yacht Club. We have a Garden View booked. Any ideas on where our room might be located? Will we have a balcony? Is there a Yacht Club quiet pool? We are staying with two tween girls who have never been to Storm along Bay so we plan to spend a lot of our time there. Any suggestions?

Merida starts meeting in MK at 9:15, and I'd try to meet her as early as possible. Every time we checked her line in the afternoon, it was unbearable. Though I have heard she is now meeting at CRT on occasion, if you happen to have an ADR there? Her M&G ends at 6 I think, so a post-6 pm dinner may yield results?

Also, I've only eaten at Akershus once, but Jasmine was not in attendance. We have met her both times we dined at CRT though. She also has a M&G in Epcot, beginning at 11:45, and Aladdin meets with her.

In June SAB was open until 11pm so you shouldn't have any problems if you want a late night swim...we closed down the pool a couple of times in fact. It was great...once I ate a whole banana split from Beaches 'n cream while the kiddos swam in the pool :)

Hope all you ladies get your A&E FP+....keep checking!! During our trip A&E wasn't really a priority but we did get to see them and it was probably the coolest experience of our trip. My youngest is 10 so we can close the parks and we decided around 11:30pm to see what the wait time was...and it was 15 minutes. We got in line and I was surprised to see how many little kids were in line! It was awesome! Anyways...we were next in line to see Elsa (you see Elsa first, then Anna) and the family ahead of had this little dude, must've been 5 or so, and once Elsa waved him over he started shouting "Oh my gosh...this is the best day ever...thanks so much Mom and Dad for bringing me to see Elsa...I'm so happy...this is a dream come true" Our family watched this little boy's excitement and many others were watching...I mean, this little dude was in seventh heaven!! He gave his parents a huge hug and looking around there were many parents bursting with tears...me, too!! It was one of those magical moments. I realized how special a moment this was for us to witness...we were all crying as we saw this little guy's dream come true. A few days later we did Frozen Summer Fun and by golly, the effect this movie has on kids is amazing. You read about in forums and online, and some say Disney has gone overboard with Frozen, well, now I knew why...it was for little guy and all those kids like him. Bravo, Disney!

The quiet pool is shared between YC/BC.

I believe all, if not almost all, YC rooms have a balcony (2nd floor and up). Request a high floor with a view of the gazebo. You will not be disappointed!

Oh, that's so touching...thank you for sharing that, ichabody! I may have to be a little more lenient with my opinion of all the Frozen stuff...maybe.

SAB has a strict closing time, which will probably be 10 or 11pm when you are there in April. There are two hot tubs there and they tend to be busier than the hot tubs at the quiet pools. The quiet pools have a posted closing time of 11pm, but I don't know if it is enforced. It doesn't have a fence around it like SAB, so there isn't any way to physically close it off to people. The hot tubs at the quiet pool tend to be empty. Most people go to SAB. There are quiet pools at BC, YC and BCV's and all three of them have hot tubs.

We had a garden view room and it faced the wedding gazebo. If you looked to the right you could see the lake. It is a good area to request because it is centrally located. All of the YC rooms, except one, have a balcony.

I had a garden view on my last stay and it more partial water, I loved it though it was far from the lobby. Looking straight down it was a rooftop with a slice of SAB and Hurricanne Hannah's , but looking out I could see the lake and Boardwalk.

I, too, am booked garden view at YC for the first time. I looked at the touring plans map, and GV rooms seem to be all over the resort. I am requesting a gazebo view based upon the touring plans map and the view pics I see here. Almost all YC rooms have balconies, so you should get one.

There is a YC quiet pool.

Oh, Stink. I had CRT and dropped it for BOG breakfast because I had Akershus. We are also going to MK on Friday the 11th and we have BOG breakfast that day. I am hoping I can get on 7DMT ahead of the rope drop then get to Merida. I will have to look up the schedule for Jasmine at Epcot. I that she was at the restaurant.

Good to know about the strict closing time for SAB. The quiet pools having a posted closing time is a bit disappointing. I keep seeing conflicting information about that. On Allears the information about the quiet pools seems to show that the quiet pools are open 24 hours a day. Do you think this is outdated information or a case of it officially closing at a certain time but they really don't care if you use it as long as you stay quiet?
