Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

So we are trying to get organized and begin booking our stay for summer 2016. I know you can't make this decision for me but any insight you may have to offer is appreciated!

Yacht Club
+ balcony, quiet, familiar to us, LOVE stormalong bay, better location for busses in my opinion
- Will be under construction which makes me nervous... I'm guessing this could mean that we have an outdated room although we were there last summer so how much more out of date or tired will it be. Also, construction noise could be an issue and we usually do take a nap around 4ish before we go back to the parks.

Beach Club
+ close to food options, epcot
- no guaranteed balcony which my husband and I enjoy

I'm also concerned that there might be a SAB renovation next summer due to the YC updates, any rumors or buzz about this at all? SAB is the main reason we choose the YC, besides location. Am I just being paranoid?

Polynesian
+ Similar in price, always wanted to stay since childhood
- monorail resort which could be limiting. We do enjoy walking to Epcot quite a bit.

Thanks so much! Again, I appreciate any insight people can offer to help us make our decision :):):)

How about a split stay between either YC or BC & the Poly? We're doing that at the end of August. We have 4 nights at the Poly & then 5 nights at BC. You could do most of your MK time while at the Poly & most Epcot & HS time while at BC or YC. I don't have much insight yet but I'll let you know how it goes after September. :)

We have not heard anything about an SAB renovation in connection to the BC/YC room refurbs. Normal pool maintenance usually happens in the winter.

Hard to know at what point the YC work will be next summer. BC work started in October of last year, from the top floors to the bottom and work is currently happening on the 2nd floor rooms.

Hope that helps.

:goodvibes:

They usually do all their pool renovation work in January and February.

The YC renovation has not been announced yet, so it is hard to guess about what things will be like next summer. We stayed at the BC during the room renovation and spent part of every afternoon in the room. The construction work was very close to us but there was only one day when we hard any significant noise. But it didn't really bother us too much. They closed off whole sections of the BC resort where the work is being done so many guests didn't hear any noise at all.

I love this idea... best of both worlds! However, we are only going for 6 nights... not sure if it would be worth it if it's a hassle? I'll start researching split stays, thank you!!!

I returned from a girls' trip to Disney World almost a week ago. I stayed at Cornado which is a lovely resort. I must be spoiled, because I missed the YC so much! My friend and I spent one late afternoon on the Boardwalk, and looking at YC and BC made me so sad. I think part of the sadness was because my family was not with me, and the other part was because that resort is a HUGE part of the Disney experience for us.

Cornado is beautiful, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, but the Epcot resorts are special. They hold many of my favorite family memories.

Does anyone know if they offer busses from DTD to Epcot? I know they used to. Then they stopped. Then I thought they tested something like this last year...but I don't know if it worked or not.

Huh? No buses from parks to DTD?

Nope, no busses between DTD & Parks. Otherwise people would just use free parking at DTD and bus to a park. So from DTD you can only go to a resort.

ANOTHER vote here for a split stay! :thumbsup2 ENJOY BOTH resorts!:cheer2:

I remember that was the original reason they stopped. I was quite surprised they tested the DTD to AK bus last year! Guess people went back to using the free parking so they stopped again.

Do they still stop at a water park after leaving DTD when heading back to BC?

Our last trip Typhoon Lagoon shared with DTD and Blizzard Beach shared with AK.

We have an annual pass and there is no free valet parking for your resort. Tables in Wonderland offers free valet parking at hotels or theme parks when you are there for dining.

Thanks, I suspected I just got a little pixie dust at AKL and they forgot to charge me. Could have been because we had to wait about 45 min. at check in because they had messed up our MB and then I had to go back down later in the day because they messed up the charging to them. Neither time was I upset, as a matter of fact we arrived way early and didn't expect to get our room anyway and had a blast talking to the cast member at the front desk while she was dealing with it all. I do have a TIW and I did use it at dinner our last night at AKL but I don't think there was any way they could have connected the two. Maybe I'll experiment with it again this trip, I was probably going to valet park anyway.
