Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

How is the hair salon at beach club? Wanted to get daughter's haircut before our trip but we're home with colds just trying to get better before our trip. Any stylist good with straight hair?

It's real now, bought our airfare for September! We had booked a bounceback when we were there in December but weren't sure we'd be able to go until this week (darn work projects!! ;)). Anyway, we'll be club level at YC Sept 10 -17. Now to wait for more info on renovations. And wait to see if they have to move us.

I was a little sad to learn that Typhoon Lagoon will not be re-opening until the end of our trip (first world problems, I know!). However, we are now left with a full day that we are thinking of turning into a resort day. Of course we would enjoy some SAB time but what else would you do? Has anyone tried the Sea Raycers? What about doing a room service breakfast? Any faves for lunch on the Boardwalk or around the resort? We will be heading to Narcoosees for dinner that evening and then to MK for EMH so maybe a more low key day will turn out to be a good thing. TIA for any ideas/advice you may have to offer!

We've done the sea racers a few times from the poly. It's a lot of fun!
I think you only have to be 12 to drive. My DS loved that!
I'm sure it's just as fun at the YC marina.

Are there still greeters at the resorts? Why can't the greeters bring the CL guests to the fifth floor instead of having them wait in lines on the main floor to check in and then be brought upstairs? just a thought

When we arrived on Wednesday there were no greeters and we were directed to checkin at the front desk. We were then escorted up to the 5th floor, but did not feel special and was not offered a drink like we were in September. Was kind of bummed with whole experience. Now, this morning on or way out we did see a greeter outside, so I am not sure if they are there only in the earlier hours of the day, we arrived at 3:45 in the afternoon, or not. The cast member who checked us in did say they were cutting back property wide on the greeters.

I don't remember who asked me, but there are no graduation things in any shops I have been to so far, Mouse Gears a nd the Beach Club Marketplace.

We are having great weather!!

Heads up!

I don't like to be the one to start rumors or fan the flames, but if you go to the DIS Rumors and News subforum you will find a thread with credible predictions that Disney ticket prices will be raised this weekend (I think price increases usually take place on Sundays).

I'm not going to guarantee that this info is correct, but I am going to purchase the park tickets for my upcoming trip tomorrow.

:rolleyes1

Bit the bullet and went ahead and bought our tickets through UCT for a June trip with daughter and family (AKL). Thanks for the kick in the pants to go ahead and get this done!

For what it is worth, I just checked the Disney Parks shopping app and there is a "2016 Graduation Novelty Hat" selling for $21.95. The picture (sorry don't know how to copy from the app) is of a blue graduation hat, embroidered in yellow/gold "Class of 2016", and then topped with a set of Mickey ears.

According to the app, it is only sold at:
Magic Kingdom - Newsstand and The Chapeau
Hollywood Studios - Celebrity 5 & 10
Epcot - Mouse Gear
Animal Kingdom - Chester & Hester's
Disney Springs - World of Disney

Not sure if this is what the OP is looking for and can't vouch for the app being correct on the "in stock" status....

On our last trip, we used Sammy Duvall's Watersport Centre at the Contemporary Resort and rented a ski boat (they provide the captain). We got to tube, kneeboard, and wakeboard. The kids really enjoyed it!

They also have parasailing, but we didn't try that.

Thanks for the reports.

I read the thread and associated blog that talks about some of the recent and upcoming budget cuts at Disney

http://wdwnt.com/blog/2016/02/break...ncial-strangle-hold-on-domestic-disney-parks/

The article talks about some of the cuts in CM staffing:

According to inside sources, the Disneyland Resort saw a 20% cut in labor costs from non-profit locations starting at the beginning of the month, this includes positions such as attractions, guest relations, custodial, entertainment, and more. Walt Disney World will see similar cuts starting this week, such as the cut of front desk curbside greeters at all resorts. All front desk and concierge cast members will also only be offered only up to 32 hours a week once the cuts are in effect. Other departments will have similar restrictions, but we could not confirm a complete list.

Entertainment cuts are coming as well, such as the removal of the 2nd Fantasmic! show on evenings until Easter week and only one nightly performance of the Main Street Electrical Parade through the entire month (a month which is typically quite busy thanks to Spring Break and Easter). Other entertainment cuts have been rumored, such as various characters meet and greet experiences being permanently removed, but none are confirmed at this time.

It looks like curbside greeters are being eliminated at all resorts. I didn't bookmark the post, but I read somewhere else that the only resorts that will have lobby greeters are the Yacht & Beach Club and Grand Floridian.

In my opinion, this is a shame since some of the things that distinguish Disney from all other vacation destinations are the excellent above-and-beyond service and the stellar entertainment.

I feel badly for the CMs who are getting their hours cut and for the guests who are already experiencing changes in the service level from what they have had in the past.

:(

I'm glad to hear that the weather is good. We are arriving tomorrow and I have been checking the weather forecast ten times a day to make sure they are still predicting warm weather. We are hoping to take advantage of SAB again. It took about 25 years but I finally got DH to appreciate that pool. ;)

We haven't stayed at too many different deluxe resorts, but the Y/B are the only two resorts that we've stayed at that have lobby greeters. The WL doesn't have lobby greeters.

Take it with a grain of salt but it could happen at anytime now really. And it won't likely be your typical increase.
