Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Hi we are looking to go back to BC the week of Labor Day since we got a great deal. I know that it rains a lot in Sept. What can we expect? Is it usually quick down pours or does it rain all day ? We usually go in Oct and love that weather but thinking we might take advantage of the lower crowds this time. Thanks
We always go the last 2 weeks of August. Some years are rainier than others. But In General you can expect a brief T Storm mid afternoon. As outahere mentioned, they're fast moving and don't last long. Sometimes if I duck into an attraction it's over by the tine we're out.
You can see them coming for aways off, and if the breeze picks up you know what's coming. This August we had a tropical storm. We managed to get back to Poly before it hit. It was nice watching it from our balcony, but sure glad I wasn't stuck in a park.

Though I have reserved twice for standard view and been placed on the first floor as an upgrade. Once with gazebo view and once facing the water.
Did you make any request when you reserved your standard room?

So we head out in 2 weeks! I just have to get through the madness of this week and the decorating and packing of next week.
I'm so excited to try the Beach Club! We haven't been in so long to the World so this is all a big treat. I ordered a cake and can't wait to surprise my husband.
Oh and my husband will be home any day now after a couple months away. So lots of anxious around here! Happy week of Thanksgiving! (Yes it's week long at my house lol)

We are visiting the disney world resorts page to check out prices for our upcoming Sept 9th-19th, 2016 trip. For some reason, for BC, it is only showing prices for water or lagoon view rooms. The other rooms are listed but without prices and a message says, "We are unable to show rates at this time. Please try again or check back later." It's been showing that for several days now.
Any idea why?

That is the way it's been showing for me but I was able to book standard view through my TA, with an offer for the first week of September because Disney set aside rooms for them. If you are booking through Disney, I would call and see for sure.

Have you tried calling to ask for a quote?

No, haven't yet. We are still up in the air about where we want to stay. There are 5 of us going so we need to have a "family meeting" and decide, or at least narrow it down. I was just snooping around the wdw reservations site to look at pix and get some prices to weigh one resort against the other.

Would you guys rather have a lagoon/water view or standard club level at the Yacht club? Orbitz discount would make the CL room a little bit cheaper than the Lagoon/water view. Typing it out I feel like the obvious answer is CL, but with the refurb going on...I'm nervous! Its a three day trip...in March. Maybe the new CL lounge will be done by then?

OKAY, SO I bit the bullet! I UPGRADED to YC ST CL. Same dates.
since its still 109 days away, I'm hoping the Lounge will be completed by then and I can post lots of pictures!

Hi everyone! 2 quick q's, one of which I'm sure can be found somewhere here but I wasn't able to find it myself.

We have stayed at YC our past two times with Disney and fell in love. This time I think I'm leaning toward BC due to pending remodeling at the YC. I'm wondering:
1) Do all BC Club Level rooms have a full balcony?
2) Are the "standard views" better at YC? I researched the views a bit and it looks like a lot of the standard club level views at the BC are of the roof? I personally don't care but I can see my DH saying that we spent all of this money to look at a roof? I know we can upgrade for a better view but we're already at the top of our budget with club level standard view.

Thanks for your help!

1) A majority (like 75-80%) of BC CL rooms have full balconies, but not all.
2) Don't know. I know there are a couple of CL rooms at the YC near the Convention Center that have really bad views. Some of the BC SV rooms overlook rooftops and some face the parking lot. Personally, I don't think those views are terrible and when we stayed in one, we could actually see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our room.

If you have not checked out the Beach Club Room View and Yacht Club Room View threads on the Resort Community subforum, take a look at some of the sample views available at the two resorts.

:goodvibes:

I've looked at the room finder on Touring Plans, but I wanted to get advice from you guys on what is a good room/area to request at YC? We will have a garden view room. I don't really care how close to the lobby or elevator or anything. Just want a good view. Thanks!

I've never stayed there so forgive me / someone please correct me if this is inaccurate...

I went through the room finder on touring plans one day when I had nothing to do (all five floors), and converted this into a map of room numbers on an excel spreadsheet (I know, I know...). I am not 100% confident in all of TP's room photos (there's at least one or two of them that are categorically wrong, as they are physically far apart but have almost identical views).

With a garden room view, here's what I understand the options are:

X= floor number, all should be the same

X098 to X014 should be garden view, this would be the garden area next to the quiet pool. Anything lower than that down to 70 is likely a Water view room.
X124 to X142 are garden views, looking at a garden area that's next to the entrance (facing AWAY from SAB / Lakes)
X123 to X137 (all odd numbers) and X148 to X154 (all evens) are possibly garden view rooms, these are right next to the wedding Gazebo.
X143 to X153 (all odd)and X071 to X085 (odd) look at the garden and patio area.

I've attached a snapshot of what I have for reference, if it's wrong please let me know! Basically you want an odd numbered room, these all seem to face the lake water :)

Update directly from YC. When I added our room requests to the reservation (crib, king, high floor) I was told to call YC directly to ask for the crib. I called this am and spoke to, I believe, the actual room assignor. She said that WDW is getting rid of actual cribs and will soon be pack and plays only which are first come, first serve and she said to request at check in.
