Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

I can't remember seeing anything but I could have missed evidence. Ladies? Chim Chim? Bubbles? Rafiki?

:confused3

Last week we were awakened by strange sounds coming from the walls one night. (We were second floor by the Epcot walkway.) My husband said it sounded like the plumbing was being checked. Only the one night though, no other construction evidence that I could see:)

Just wanted to thank everybody for their love and support. Jeanne, Lily, and I really appreciate it. Bob had a super good life, he loved retirement and our home here in Florida. He said on Saturday that life sure was good...at the time we were talking about our upcoming October 10th cruise on his favorite ship, the Disney Fantasy. He never thought with his family history he would live past 70 so he did real good. He went fast and they said he didn't have any pain. We are very thankful for that. He did not want any kind of service and we are honoring that. But the next time you are at a bar, please have a Manhattan and raise your glass to him. Just make sure it's the way he liked it, "up, very cold, stirred not shaken." He'll be up there smiling down at you!

He left this world a very loved man. I'm having a very hard time thinking about a life without him!

Teena what lovely words. Bob was a special man and he had three very special ladies who loved him very much. Hugs to you and your family.

Hi everyone. I am home now from my Beach Club escapades. My Three Amigos are continuing on to the new Poly villas for a couple of days. Here is the post from our good friend Ninja Mom:

"I love to joke around with the Disney Resort staff that my room request to have Matthew McConaughey waiting in the room for me when I check in is never met. Usually the staff reminds me that requests are just that, requests and that they can't always be met. Well today at check in we must have just missed Matthew ; ) and the staff at the resort left us a little consolation gift. MAHALO Polynesian staff, Mahalo... well done! P.S be sure to read the text on the card in the picture."

The note:

Aloha Ladies,

We just couldn't get Matthew McConaughey to make an appearance so we went the next best thing- chocolate!

That's fantastic!!

Lily's Pad:

I know a lot of you are new to the thread- there is a lot of history here and a lot of great friendships made in past versions of this thread, but I want to introduce Teena to anyone who doesn't know her (yet).

Teena is a greeter in the lobby of the Beach Club

Look for her on Sundays and Mondays unless she and Bob are on one of their treasured cruises to Castaway Cay or out visiting her two shining lights in Vegas, her daughter Jeanne and her first grandchild, Lily born in July 2011.

Hours, 2015:

Here is a link to some pictures when Teena was presented by Disney execs with an award from President Obama in May 2011 for helping out so much at Jeanne's school:

Presidential Award, May 2011

Presidential Award, 2013:

We were all eagerly awaiting "Peanut's" arrival in the months leading up to July and even had some fun, friendly competition to guess her birthdate and whether she was a Princess or a Pirate.

Lily's arrival was a very special moment for our beloved Teena in a year that has been tough due to some health issues. She bravely shared what she was going through with all of us, once again, in an attempt to help others who may be facing similar challenges. :grouphug:

Teena has faithfully posted on this board and has helped us all gain great knowlege about these resorts, so many of us who hang around here can now also answer the questions that are posted here.

I will occasionally post the photos she provides to me, because, well, Teena may know everything there is to know about the Beach Club but she don't know beans about technology! :rotfl:

Trip Report: Lily Goes Live: A Princess' First Visit to Her Kingdom (And More!)

This report follows Lily's first visit to WDW, plus trips to the Beach Club, Disneyland and MORE!

:welcome: Princess Lily!!! princess:

Disney (and the Beach Clubs) newest princess has arrived:

Lillian (Lily) Grace
Born 7/11/11, 7:59 am
6 Lbs, 11 oz, 20 inches

Please note that Lillian is a name truly worthy of Disney royalty as this was the name of Walts wife.

It also goes without saying that 7 come 11 is a great date for a baby born in Las Vegas!

Congratulations to Jeanne and Brian and to proud Nanny Teena and Pop Pop Bob!

From Teena, June 2013:

Jeanne said Lily FINALLY likes princess stuff. She was not into the princesses at all but Jeanne got so tired of her watching the parades (a friend taped them onto a DVD for her), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Jake the Pirate, that she started putting Disney movies in the DVD player. She started with Cars and Nemo and after being sick of them being played over and over again, Jeanne put in Beauty and the Beast. OMG ... she loved it after the first hour of crying for Nemo. And when Belle dances around, Lily dances around.

I had purchased a bunch of princess dresses (of course) and one of them (the green one) is there in Vegas and the rest are here since I figured Jeanne would want her to wear them when we visit WDW. She has shown it to Jeanne but Jeanne had no interest in frilly things .... UNTIL NOW. Apparently she pointed to it after the second time of "dancing" to Beauty and the Beast and screamed "mama, mama, put on". So on it went and she danced and danced and danced. So we now have an official Disney Princess!!!!!

BTW- Kudos to Cinderumbrella (July 10) and 333disneymom (July 12) who came closest in the "Is Peanut a Princess or a Pirate" pool-
Honorable Mention goes to BCV23 for having the correct date (July 11), but the wrong gender!
Lily is so beautiful! I will be stepping foot in the Beach Club for the first time on Feb. 12, 2016, I really hope to meet Teena and tell her how beautiful Lily is!

Teena, though I have never met you, I have very close friends of mine who have said nothing but wonderful things about you and your family. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm never on here but popped on as we are getting ready for a possible October trip. Teena, we met last October when you helped me find a new room for my sick, asthmatic son. I so enjoyed our couple of conversations and could tell just from that brief time with you how incredibly important your family is to you and how well loved they are. I am so very sorry for your loss and am praying for comfort, strength, and peace for you, Jeanne, and Lily. Sending you big hugs.

Abu - After consulting with Bubbles and Chim Chim, no notice of construction. I would say you are correct.
Abu, Bubbles, Chim Chim or Rafiki, I was curious if you were ever successful in making any inquiries to the status of the refurbishment work (or lack thereof) on the Dark Side or in the Villas? Also, were you ever successful in locating that elusive telephone book for your room? Thank you for taking us along for the weekend.

There is still no news. We did stumble upon some sample hallway décor in the Yacht Club. Not impressed! There was a beige, non-textured carpeting in the hallways that is NOT a good idea! (Pictures coming)

When the Beach Club was preparing for renovations at club level, guests were receiving letters giving them an option to move to a standard room or club level at the Yacht Club. I have not heard that anyone has received similar letters regarding the YC.

I think someone posted something that was in some DVC communication about renovations being put off until the WL renovations were done, but I think that was while I was away. As I catch up on the thread, I will look into that.

Only a bible in the rooms.

Yacht Club, sample hallway décor. Hopefully they will be going back to the drawing boar

I agree with you, Dee. Not only is it blah, but the upkeep and maintenance will be impossible.

You do not select a monotone, especially in lighter colors, for public areas subject to heavy traffic, including lots of little ones carrying drinks and treats. Trying to clean up melted chocolate from a Mickey Bar, which has been sitting on the carpet for hours, if not days, is going to be impossible - no matter what stain-cleaning benefits may be built in to the carpet. Cleaning up cola or coffee stains will be even worse. This decor looks like it's from an apartment building, not a resort...especially a deluxe Disney resort.

Speaking of sitting on the carpet, is that lifelike being on the carpet also part of the decor? Now, that would be unique. :-)
