Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

It is frustrating to sit here and watch people who reserved cabanas at SAB only use them for a few hours and then leave for the day after trying countlessly to get one. Two out of the four have been open for 2.5 hours with only 3 hour left in the day now
That's gonna burn me when I head down in a couple of weeks. I've been trying twice a week for 2 months to try and snag one!

Well, final tally was three days normal access and just that one morning where they gave me a hard time - so who knows. I’m assuming they either put a newer CM out or maybe higher Sat AM crowds they wanted monitor? I give up trying to figure things out sometimes. 😂

We had issues there too (a few months ago). CMs were very inconsistent our whole trip (maybe some followed the rules and others didn't?), and it was overly swamped most nights and even mobile orders had to wait a while. Once CL comes back, that will solve a lot of problems!!

Transportation question.......

We are thinking about doing a breakfast at Tusker House in AK. Thinking and 8:00 or 8:30 ressie. Are the buses running that early from BC to AK??? This will be our day at AK anyway. Date is Sunday Sept 26

Or are we just better off having breakfast at Cape May ??.

Disney hasn't posted hours for Sept 26 yet, but if the current patterns holds, and I think it will, AK will open at 8am. Buses will start running before 7am, so your breakfast plans at AK will be fine. I might suggest that you plan your breakfast for a little later though. The first hour after the park opens will have the lowest wait times. You might enjoy Pandora or take a ride or two on the safari, and then go to breakfast.

Good idea. Maybe make breakfast for 9. Get to the park at 8 and catch Pandora once before breakfast.
THANKS !!

Any word on when the Beaches and Cream walk up window is going to reopen? That’s a nightly tradition for us.
I understand it has been moved next to ESPN and its now called Boardwalk Ice Cream, replacing Ample Hills which declared bankruptcy.

Isn’t this a totally different thing than the Beaches & Cream walk-up window?

We just got back from an 8 night stay at Beach Club Villas (6/23-7/1). We had a wonderful trip and had a great two bedroom villa for our family of 5. We went to SAB almost every afternoon and truly enjoyed it. It was pretty crowded and sometimes hard to find a chair. One day we got there at noon and there wasn't anyplace to put our stuff. We had to put it in a locker. I would agree with others that the line at Hurricane Hannah's was disappointing. I waited in it three times and it was about a 15-20 minute wait to just get an alcoholic drink. There are only two bartenders as half of the bar is closed. People are also ordering food there so that takes a while. I missed being able to just sit there with a drink as we have been able to do in the past.

My other complaint is that the marketplace does not open until 7:00 so if you are an early riser and want coffee you are out of luck. Some mornings we left for the park before 7:00 am so I just couldn't have coffee that day. I wish they at least had a coffee station outside before 7:00 am.

Also, they were testing the EPCOT fireworks and they would go off at midnight. Woke me up every time! But that is probably over now that the fireworks are happening now.

We again loved the location of Beach Club. We walked to Epcot many nights and walked to Hollywood Studios our three HS mornings. I timed it and it was a 23 minute walk to HS. We took the skyliner back and loved that. We had reservations one night for dinner at Topolino's Terrace at Resort Riviera and planned to take the skyliner but it was raining so it was shut down. We had to taxi there and taxi back (skyliner still down) so that was an expense we weren't planning on. The skyliner shut down a lot due to rain. Our kids were at HS one night and were going to take the skyliner home and it was shut due to rain as well as the boats. They had to take a bus back and they said the line was forever as the bus was going to Swan/Dolphin, Yacht, and Beach.

The bus transportation to AK and MK and Disney Springs was fine though. Never waited that long for a bus either way. We were the last people though allowed on the Disney Springs bus as it was full so people behind us had to wait for the next bus. Definitely plan plenty of time to get there. A couple that was staying at the Yacht Club were on the bus complaining that they were late to their dinner reservation because of the bus.

All and all, I would definitely stay at Beach Club again! You just can't beat the location and pool. We also had a fantastic dinner at Beaches and Cream one night with a great waiter. The dessert was amazing!

Feeling very lucky. Last week I randomly checked the website and found a discount on our room for our September stay. Definitely felt better about paying for the room, although I miss those 30-35% off discounts from other visits. Thinking good thoughts for anyone else hoping to score a discount!

Is there anywhere in this thread that talks about fireworks and Beach Club rooms? Is there any suggested rooms to request to be able to see Epcot fireworks from your balcony?

Yes! (Sort of)

People have reported seeing fireworks from the Yacht & Beach club rooms, but we have not compiled a list of which room numbers they are. I think east-facing, or EPCOT-facing Water View rooms would be your best bet.

I stayed in a Club Level Standard View room where I had glimpses of Illuminations and a great, but distant, view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show.

Can you see any of the Illuminations fireworks from places around the resort?

There are a few places where you can view some of the high fireworks from EPCOT's Illuminations show. Many people recommend watching the fireworks from the bridge between the Beach Club and the Boardwalk resort areas. You can also see some of the high fireworks from the Beach Club beach or from the Stormalong Bay pool. Wood Nymph recommends the Yacht Club boat dock. Another suggestion (EagleScout) is to view the fireworks from the bridge connecting the YC and Swan resorts.

So I'm going to try an experiment here. I shot these using my remote shutter through the Nikon app. When I do that it also saves the images (as jpegs) to my phone and then my phone automatically uploads to Google Photos. I messed around at the airport on the way home and created a nice little animation with it using the jpegs so I'm going to try and post that. I did edit the RAW files so these aren't my "edits", and some of the shots didn't turn out great, but the animation was pretty cool and should give you a good idea of what to expect. Lets see if I can pull this off.

This was VERY cool, but unfortunately, the link is no longer working :(

Here's a link from my August 2014 trip report with pictures of the Illuminations Fireworks and the Summer Frozen Fireworks from the Boardwalk Bridge.

You have the best chance of seeing Epcot fireworks from garden view and water view rooms.

We have seen Hollywood Studios and MK fireworks from standard view rooms, but not Epcot fireworks. :)

So...first trip planned since 2019...headed to YC for first time ever in November. Usually stay at GF, or at least MK resort. Excited for proximity to EPCOT and HS, and discovering all that the EPCOT area resorts have to offer...

Would you mind sharing your room number? Do you have any pictures of the view that you could post or email to me? beachclubdee at yahoo

Totally agree on the bus situation. It would be fine if you could rely on people to self-monitor and do the right thing. But you can't.

:thanks:

Surely! Room 5633, 5th floor and right around the corner from the club lounge (balcony too!):

Staying in a split stay -- YC & BC, yahoo! First 5 nights are YC garden view, last 2 nights are BC standard view. (Oct 23-30)

Any area recommendations to face Epcot for both locations? I know BC will be harder, but I figured I would ask! So happy I get to spend my 4-year anniversary at my favorite resorts on property.

Fireworks as Far as the Eye Can See

I saw the first full pyro test for Harmonious from my Yacht Club Water View room, 3029. I’m uh...directionally challenged to say it kindly, but looking straight on from my balcony it was a center view of that bridge between the BC side of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk.

Daytime view, for reference:

And the fireworks:

My room was located at the far end of YC, the side closest to the Dolphin.

Any reports on the Gyotaku t-shirt craft? All I could find searching the internet were really old (like 2004!) reviews with little kids. Are they really painting dead fish and stamping the shirts? Trying to figure out if I want to tell my 17yo son and friends about it. They are obsessed with all things Japanese.

BUMP!

Has anyone done this activity?

🐟

Is anyone here now that would like 2 unopened gallons of whole milk? We are checking out in an hour and our grocery order was doubled so we never even opened these. Have a half gallon of lactose free whole milk as well.

:welcome:

Thanks for your generous offer.

Hope you had a great trip!

::yes::

anyone heard any rumors about Yachtman Steakhouse opening back up? This is one of my favorites. Going in late September. I assume it, and retty much all the dining, has to be open by then, right?

:welcome: to the thread!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for September. Which resort?

With all of the excitement and bookings for WDW's 50th, I'm optimistic about the restaurant reopening by fall.

:thumbsup2

not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i booked at BCV through disney (not points) for a 2 bedroom villa. is there anyway i would know whether it will be a lock-off or dedicated?

:welcome:

When is your trip?

:cool1:

We checked in on Wed. and the same thing happened to us. Got standard view club level. It really is just the 5th floor - lounge is down the hall but closed. We have a nice view of trees, which I’m very happy about since it’s standard.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to :welcome: you here earlier.

Hope you had a magical trip!

:goodvibes
