Resort Thread Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB Resorts

Here is my advice, I will note that once I hit my 30s assertiveness skills have never been something people can say I lack lol, so you might want to phrase it nicer. If/when she gets on your last nerve, pull her aside and say, "SIL you are ruining this trip for me. I am sick of your (fill in the blank) and I am not putting up with it anymore. Either knock it off, go be miserable on your own or go back to the room, but whatever your choice is, know that you chose to come on this trip when you could have stayed home and you do not have the right to wreck it for the rest of us." I can almost guarantee she'll quit it after that. If she does continue or if you don't want to tell her off, you could always sing at her whever she gets bad. I mean really SING. Aversion therapy.
Lol! I really don't care if she ruins the trip for me. It is my dad I am thinking of...it is his birthday trip.

I will just sing..."let it go"at her. Lol...watch her explode...(the youngest is 9 and has the singing Elsa doll. Heh.)

I'm so very glad you scored the A & E FP!!!!!!!! My heart sank at the thought of all the moms today trying to get one for their kids....and none to be found.
I'm making our fast pass selections next Wednesday and I'm so nervous I won't be able to get A&E for my 4 year old daughter who is dying to meet them. Does anyone know if the standby line for A&E will be really long in late September or can you meet them at the Halloween party?

Thanks. All is well in this household, we can meet the frozen princesses without losing a whole day for the pleasure!! Now I can rest easy that that is scheduled actually. Phew. It was worth being up so late for...I'll be calling it early to be tonight!!

You should be fine - start with the last date of your trip you want to be at MK first and work backwards for best FP+ availability. A great backup plan would be a before park opens breakfast at BOG. It's quick service, order what you want (so you could share orders if you are like me and not huge on breakfast) and then you are right in the middle of fantasyland for park opening! I have been using ************** and it works great for finding reservation openings!

She is unconvertable...lol She sees Disney as wasteful. She has no anxiety issues, I've known her for 26 years. She has always hated Disney and it has only gotten worse since she had kids. I wonder now if she has control issues and we are not letting her have any control over the trip. We tried that and she just wanted to cancel it or make it painful. (My dad wants to stay on property and she tried to talk him out of it...it's his trip...let HIM have what he wants! Then she tried to get him to book a trip to Italy...or California...let the birthday man have his wish!) she does no research. If you knew her you would understand...just 5 minutes around her would tell you all you need to know! Lol! She is very set in her ways and opinionated. I am ignoring her till after we come home. LOL!

We are just trying to be my dad's advocate for the trip, and make it what he wants. The kids are thrilled. My 15 year old niece paid us the biggest compliment. She said she always wanted to go to Disney with us, because she knows she would have a good time. She is a "whateva" kinda teen girl who rolls her eyes at any authority figure and for her to say that..woot!..I am the cool aunt!
Oh dear.....that is my mother. Not about Disney but anything in general that's not her idea or that she can't control. For example any time I try to do something for my dad! She butts right in and decides what he wants and he takes the path of least resistance. Sigh. I know exactly what you mean is what I'm saying I guess....good luck, sounds like you are dealing with it pretty well! And I love Disney and I'm not sure I could handle juggling my kids and other family members very well...

I was looking at the menu for BOG breakfast and it looks like it's prix fixe and $19.99 per person (in other words, not letting you share a meal with a family member). Did it change to QS where not everyone must order an entree? If so, I'd be interested in going there...

I hope his birthday trip is everything he wants and more! My sister is in her 40's and has no kids of her own. Her SIL and I have six kids between us, so my sister totally gets the cool aunt designation. I hope your SIL enjoys herself. I admit, I've had to take vacations to places I did not like and it's not fun - especially in the planning stages. I was always able to find something I enjoyed, though. The BC/YC, at least, doesn't scream Disney, so maybe that will help. At the very least, maybe she can go get a pedicure and let the kids enjoy the parks.

I'll have to let Amara know about the No Way Jose sundae at B&C. My son is allergic to peanuts and she'll be thrilled to eat something guilt-free.

Sorry for the DP. As far as I know, you don't have to order a meal for everyone. You can order one and split, or two and split it with three people. We have a reservation for me, my 12-year-old, and my 3-year-old. I really doubt my younger kid will 1) be able to wait until we get there to eat something, and 2) have a lot of interest in what's available. I plan to feed her a little something before we head out and I'll let her have as much of the bread/pastry plate as she cares to eat.

Can the YC concierge (not club level) make FP+ when you park hop after an afternoon break? I asked this on the theme park page, too.
The concierge at the YC was able to get us a 4th fp for Fantasmic when we were there last September. It was really convenient. :)
How do you request connecting rooms and are there such a thing at the BC?
Call reservations and have them add the request to all of the rooms that you want to be connected. There are plenty of connecting rooms at the BC.
:)

I'm sorry, I can't remember who asked, but we just walked to Epcot tonight and I timed it. From our room, down the stairs and out the secret exit, through baggage check and band scanning it was 6 minutes! :) :) :)
I love that secret exit. :)

We received this in our room today, and there was also a sign posted in the lobby. Just thought I'd share in case anyone is checking in tomorrow or Thursday image.jpg and wouldn't have seen this notice.

Good evening! Hope all of you are doing well. Been lurking a bit the past few weeks so decided to sign up tonight. I'm amazed at how much info is on the disboards. Have had several trips to Disney over the years and never knew it existed till I saw someone post about it on a facebook Disney page. Looking forward to going back home in November for ten days. Can't wait! :)

High Spliter!

If i wanted to add a full balcony request for the BC would i have to call the hotel directly? I think my dad would prefer a full balcony as he loved sitting on it when we stayed at the GF a couple of years ago.

Sorry for getting way behind again!

The past several days I have been working on the Memory Maker/Photopass pictures from the class trip (and for two other friends of mine who were at Disney in the same time period).

We ended up with over 1,000 photos. There were 27 files to download. Now I am trying to figure out which pictures belong to which groups so I can distribute the pictures. I can figure out the boy groups, but some of the girl groups are confusing me since I don't know a lot of those students. And Ben is not as much of a help as he should be!

:(

Happy Birthday Lily!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were at YC two weeks ago. Couldn't get BC for the entire stay at CL. I sure missed the BC side. We stopped to visit with Teena for a quick minute while getting lunch one afternoon. She is just the sweetest.

The YC is up for reno and it needs it. I could really feel the rooms being tired. Anyone else feel that way? The CL staff was so nice. We only did the MK one day and spent the rest of the time enjoying SAB. Such a nice relaxing vacation. I've never came back rested until this yr. I highly recommend a resort stay.

Thanks for your feedback! Glad you had a relaxing stay.

:)

We have been here 20 minutes and we're in LOVE with this resort! The new rooms are gorgeous!!!

Just wanted to send along thanks for sharing your live reports, your excitement and fantastic pictures! I love the details- I don't know if I have noticed the bureau knobs in other photos before.

:goodvibes

Only 10 days now until we arrive at the BC! Would you recommend that I do online check in or wait until we get there?

I have booked a garden view room, and I would like to request a renovated room on a high floor, with full balcony and a view of the Epcot fireworks.

:thanks:

Since you have some very specific requests, and one that is not on the list of options for online checkin (fireworks), I think it would be best to check in when you arrive so you can discuss the rooms that are available. If you checkin online, a room will be assigned to you and that info will probably be programmed in to your Magic Band before you arrive. Although you can request a change once you see your room, I think it would be easier to do it before actually going to the room.

But it took me a couple of days to respond, so perhaps you have already done the online checkin.

Either way, you should be fine.

:)

4 more days to go! DH & DS actually started to pack-I won't have to harass them, now to get DD on board! Maybe we'll see some of you who are staying CL-we'll be the family with the 21 yr old DD with the tiara and the 19 DS looking disdainfully at the 21 yr old! I'm willing to look for/answer any one's questions but can't guarantee same day service-but will certainly try!

Have a fantastic trip!

:cool1:

Well, we are at the Beach Club Club level now and I have to say that our experience last year at WL club level was much better. We celebrated my husband's and grandson's birthdays at WL last year and the cast members really made them feel special. They put balloons in the rooms with a signed birthday card from Mickey and friends. Everyday there was a little towel animal in the room. This year we are celebrating both birthdays again and have had no special touches at all at Beach Club. Not even the traditional Mickey towel on the bed. I know that these are little things, but the difference really stands out. It's back to WL for us even with the construction.

Sorry you have had some disappointments with your stay. I know we have a lot of folks here who are big fans of the WL and I am always hearing how personal the service is (especially at club level).

::yes::

There is another thread (I think in the News and Rumors) that said they are no longer doing the towel animals.(Actually more than one thread). One of the posts said they heard the Mousekeeper reminded of possible reprimands if they continued to make them. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your stay!
Sarah

Thanks for posting this info. I have not seen these threads.

Personally, the towel animals have never been that important to me, although it is nice to have the welcome Mickey on the bed.

:earsboy:

I was just curious if anyone had any "up to the day" updates for the Beach Club renovations? We have stayed there the past two years and decided to stay at the Yacht Club this year. We will be arriving on August 15th. I am still considering switching back to the Beach Club if I hear the renovations are completed by then. Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

- manooly

Last I knew the work was continuing on the 2nd floor. Other than reports we may get from guests who are there now or soon, we have no new info to report.

:)

There is an option to request a full balcony if you do online check in, so you can add the request then. The other option would be to check reservations and have them add the request.

I too would like to know, even though our trip is later in the fall, any updates would be great on how the BC is looking (plastic dust-cover sheeting and all)!

:welcome:

As far as we know, the BC renovations are on schedule and should be completed by early fall. You should be all set!

When is your trip?

:goodvibes:

10 of us are coming down Sept 1-7 and staying at universal and WDW. We have 3 rooms at the beach club, just standard view. It has been my job, along its my hubby, to plan the trip!

Many months ago we asked my dad what he wanted to do for his 80th birthday. He said...to take all of us to WDW! So we have 5 under the age of 18 (17, 15, 13, 11 and 9!) as well as several 40 somethings and my dad.

We are doing tour guides for 2 days at WDW for all 10, 2 days on our own and one day non private tour at universal, for just 4 of us, my dad, hubby, 13 year old nephew and I.(Staying at the hard rock.)

*snip*

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Thanks for sharing some of the "issues" you are having with this trip. You have a lot of sympathetic ears here and your attitude seems great. Glad you are plowing through and from the sounds of it, planning a spectacular trip! Great itinerary and fantastic special plans. The VIP tours sound wonderful!

(BTW- if by some miracle your SIL DOES back out and you need someone to fill her spot...) :rolleyes1

I will be finishing up a trip to the Hard Rock with family and then solo with friends at the Beach Club as your trip is beginning.

:)

LOVED Leaky Cauldron and now I am double sad we missed Mythos (walked the wrong way around the park and none of us wanted to walk back lol);

Don't be too sad. We have been to Mythos twice and truly have not been blown away. We will be skipping it on our upcoming trip, but the Leaky Cauldron will make at least one appearance!

::yes::

Two notes:

1. If you need it to be dark to sleep, bring an eye mask! I wish I would've known that. The new rooms have roman shades and all the light comes in behind them. For most early Disney risers, no biggie, but this was our sleep in and relax trip.
2. The construction is LOUD. We are on the fourth floor so we figured it shouldn't be bad, but it sounds like they're in the room right beside us! I went to check it out this morning and realized the noise is coming through the AC and bathroom vents! (And they started before 9.)

Again, thanks for sharing your experiences. Sorry to hear about the bothersome construction noise!

:(

:welcome: to this forum and posting on the DIS.

It really is an incredible (and addictive) resource!

:disrocks:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for November. Which resort- BC/YC or BCV?

:cool1:

You just call Disney's Central Reservations Office.
