Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Love Picabu! Huge burritos and yummy tacos. The pizza isn't bad either. Breakfast is really nice with large omelettes and the usual suspects available. We've always enjoyed our choices there and you can get a 20% AAA discount, if you have it. We have found ourselves there on quite a few occasions because the grab and go and Marketplace offerings are pretty slim pickins.

I would say 10 minutes is a decent estimate.
Nice... might be a good breakfast stop on the way over to DHS

Does anyone know if you can get an adult size chicken nuggets at hurricane Hannah's and can you ask for fries instead of the carrots on the kids menu?

I really like how everything can be made to order. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. There is a decent dining area, but they also pack everything up, very nicely, for take-out. The prices are reasonable, and it's great that they are open 24/7, too!

Totally agree! We will, more often than not, get ours to go and take it back to our hotel (or room if we are staying there) if it is an evening nosh.

So I have some big news about Stormalong Bay, but it comes with a downside for me. I will no longer be able to respond to a certain question with my favorite answer ever...

"Yes, We Have No Cabanas"

:banana::banana::banana:

Although I have to say that the first time I had the opportunity to use that response was one of the few times that someone was taken aback and criticized me about the "rude" post.

Not sure how many cabanas are planned or what the rental price and amenities will be. My man on the scene says work is expected to start in about a month or so, back where the tables are way in the back by the kiddie pool.

I'll let you all know when I have more news.

:thumbsup2

No Cabanas has been a good thing. . .at least they are putting them in the least desirable area. Frankly, in that area when you have no little kids--it wouldn't entice me. :(

Question.. I've been looking at pictures of SAB and the lazy river and I don't see many tubes and in a lot of pictures I see none at all. Do they still offer them to use for free and how many are available? We're heading there towards the end of Sept and usually do pool in the afternoons. How likely will there be tubes available? Thanks!

There have always been plenty of tubes available in the lazy river on all of my trips. Still free.

I don't really see them in the main pool and rarely in the hot tub... ~Ninja! so that's why you don't see them in pictures of those features.

If you are not seeing them in the lazy river, it must be at a time when it is either closed or not very busy.

I prefer my pool noodle in the lazy river

I was looking at pictures I was assuming was the lazy river pictures but I'm not an expert or even a novice yet so I bow to your knowledge lol. Thanks though you've made me feel so much better!

Could someone please tell me if it's difficult to get chairs by the pool? Do we need to get there early? Are there many shaded areas or umbrellas available? We're going late September/early October. Do people do the chair-saving towel-placement thing early in the morning? I sure hope not.
We've never had trouble getting chairs in September and October when most kids are in school. We just got back from our trip over the 4th of July holiday and SAB was pretty crowded the whole time, especially on the 4th.

We were having breakfast at the Captain's Grille on our last morning, July 5th and we were sitting by a window near the entrance to SAB. We sat down at 8:45am and there were already people waiting in line to get their favorite spots in SAB. They grabbed their tables and laid towels over multiple chairs. I assume they were taking one for each of their family members, although, none of the family members were there, of course. For the most part, the person who came early to get their favorite spots stayed there. And it was really hard to tell who was at the pool, in the water, and who wasn't.

We went back to our room after breakfast to pack and check our bags with the airline bag service before heading to the pool. We got to SAB around 10:40am and there were still some tables left in the shade, but I would say they were all filled up by 11am. It wasn't too hard to find a single chair to lay your stuff on, but it would have been hard to find a group of chairs together if you came in after noon. I guess summer is a popular time for SAB, because we've never seen it fill up like this during the school year. We spent two afternoons at the quiet pool and there were very few people there.

Staying at Yacht Club the first week of September. What can I expect as the average time to and from MK and AK? Highly doubt we rope drop or close the parks since we will have our three year old. Thanks!
I timed the bus ride from BC to AK and it was about 15 minutes long. I was surprised at how fast the trip was. :)

Anyone go to Picabu at the Dolphin for a large-variety quick service? I'm not really liking any of the options at Hurricane Hanna's, Ale & Compass, or the Marketplace (besides maybe a flatbread). About how long does it take to get to the Dolphin from the BC? 10ish minutes?
We went there for dinner one night and they have a lot of food options there. Then we got on the boat to DHS after dinner. It was very convenient. :)

We usually go toward the end of Sept. and we've always found lots of floats! My girls even made some friends! LOL

I see the chair hogs are there in full force! Ninja has a great solution for them! Lol

Yea! I've been hoping they put some in. I would love to do a half day rental at least once to try it out. My DH isn't really fond of pool time, but if I could get him a couch & a tv, that could get me a few more hours at StormAlong Bay! :thumbsup2 Will be interesting to see exactly where they put them. When we were there in May, the pool games & "dance party" set up were way over there at the end of the kiddie area. Normally the kiddie area isn't loud or anything, so having a cabana there would be fine. But certainly wouldn't be relaxing having Raul running all the games & dancing right next to us. I'm hoping Disney realizes that too. Especially at a resort with lots of conventions & adult parties that might be inclined to rent cabanas.

IMG_1788.jpg Dee, is this where you're talking about for the cabanas? If so, then that's a nice, unobtrusive spot. Let's hope they are bright and stripey!

Last year my Kids 10 and 11 were not allowed in SAB without an adult.. Now I am not sure how old this "adult" has to be.. Example if a 14 yr can escort them in or not... and the lifeguard was strict...I had sent the Kids ahead as I was still packing things up in the room and they were Standing there waiting for me. for the quiet pools there is no one to check.. My Kids also went on their own in the Lobby and marketplace to get Food.

I think the only issue is SAB.. I was thinking this year, I will go in with them and if I wish to head back first to shower I will just leave them there and they can head back 20 minutes later on their own.. It's really the "bouncer" lifeguard at the gate giving wrist bands who wouldnt let them in.

The pool rules are under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, according to the signage. (I checked as I have two 12 year olds this trip and wanted to see what flexibility I would have with them in the pool specifically.)
