Both BC and YC are great choices, but since you mentioned the importance of a full balcony, I would recommend the Yacht Club since the rooms there have them, but only 50% of the rooms at the BC have full-sized balconies.
As others have suggested, yes, there are connecting rooms in the standard view category at the resorts.
What is the ratio of adults/children in your party? In some cases (like if there are two adults and two plus kids) in your booking party for two rooms, I think you get priority for connecting rooms. Can someone explain what I am trying to describe?
Please let us know when and where you book.

Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks so much for checking in and for the really interesting info!
So sorry to hear this. Hope you make it back to the world when the time is right!
Thanks so much for providing the feedback on your BCV trip. I would love to hear your comments after your BLT stay. Readers here are always looking for reports with comparisons between different resorts.

to this thread!
Is your upcoming trip to Disney at the Yacht Club?
Read on for the info about elevators.
YC elevators:
I am not very familiar with the YC layout. This is the first floor layout from a very outdated map. Looks like the second elevator bank is near room 1067. Is that the one loves to dive and Wood Nymph describe?
Could someone at the resort now report back on the current open and closing hours for SAB?
Thanks!
Thanks so much for your review and view picture.
If you are able, could you add your room description to the BC View thread on the Photo subforum?
THANKS!

I don't have experience with swimming in December, but I do know the weather conditions can vary significantly, even within the same week. You could have a hot sunny shorts day one day and need sweaters the next
Here's hoping you get an opportunity to swim and slide!
Good evening all,
Hoping you folks can help me with some info. I'm looking at a "magical deal" for August 2016. The room offered is "standard". We are trying to decide if we should book BC or YC. I'm aware of the renovations going on at YC over the next year and I'm not too concerned. We are booking 2 rooms and would like them connecting with a full balconey.
I checked the touring plans room database and I'm not sure that the connecting room information is correct. I found one room that was supposed to be "connected" to a room 2 doors down.
Does anyone know if the BC/YC standard rooms have a connecting option?
Any other suggestions to help us decide which resort to pick would be greatly appreciated!

We stayed at the YC on that deal in 2014. We were told we were booking standard, 2 rooms also requested connecting (we were 2 adults 6 children for DD's 16th b-day) When we looked at Disney's bill it listed garden view, and what we had was connecting rooms with a view of the quiet pool on the 2nd floor. Not sure what all that really means, but that was our experience.
to the thread and thanks for the info.
This thread is a breath of fresh air. All the threads running things down (parks, hotels, prices, FP, ADRs) are just too depressing. I come here (DIS Boards) to help get info to make my holidays the best they can be, not to get myself worked up and stressed. This is pretty much the only thread where you can feel the holiday spirit and positivity.
Thanks for the kind words!
We did the Family Magic Tour at Magic Kingdom yesterday and it was so much fun!!! It was a 2 hour scavenger hunt tour, it focused on the kiddos of the group but the adults had a blast also. I think we had a few extra surprises as we rode The Teacups and Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. I knew we would get to meet Peter Pan but we also got to meet Magic Mickey!!!! I am thinking that our clues were not in place on time and that's why we rode the rides, but that was fine by us, some extra pixie dust. We also galloped through Liberty Square, waddled like a penguin through Tomorrow Land and then drove race cars down Main Street USA. We thought the cost was very reasonable and would recommend it to others with young kiddos.
We saw La Nouba on Saturday night and it was amazing, everyone in our group enjoyed it from age 9-66. We have used Uber 3 times so far and can't say enough good things about it. I will say though that when they have their fare increase due to high demand I think it may be more expensive than a taxi. Last time we were here we took a cab to the Contemporary and it was around $14 without tip, we did it again yesterday and it was $21 and some change. The fare was increased X1.5 yesterday morning. It was not a big deal because we have free rides that we are using. But the convenience was worth it, all the drivers have been very friendly and their cars are super clean.
For those that have used Uber do you tip the driver? I know you don't have to but I was reading that the drivers won't give you a good rating if you don't, so we have been giving them a few dollars each time.
Today we are getting family pictures taken here at the Beach Club and I am so excited, I will share some of the pictures with you when we get back home.
Thanks so much for checking in and for the really interesting info!
hi everyone, thanks for all the advice and great info posted here but my disney dream has died... this sad news is a direct result of the crappy canadian dollar and our requirement for a new roof.
as much as i tried to ignore it, each time the wind picks up, my neighbours yards' are littered with chunks of shingles that have ripped from our roof... it sucks to be a grown up. i had awesome dining reservations, did my research for room requests; as a second trip i was determined to "do better" this time as i knew more. was also determined that the trip was meant to be because last year of osborne family lights, one of the biggest highlights of our first time to disney last year. sigh.
please take me off BOG list for dec 15-23.
someday yacht club ..... someday...
So sorry to hear this. Hope you make it back to the world when the time is right!
We're beginning to plan our next visit to WDW, this time in a 1BR at Bay Lake Tower.

Just booked for Beach Club 4/20-4/23. My mom's first trip and probably only trip. So glad I asked for this duration too after asking about the magical deal at Poly for my dad's sept trip.
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
I saw this asked for BC, but not YC. Can you tell me how many banks of elevators are at YC? I remember the ones right off the lobby, but are there other ones? I have a room request "close to elevator". I am now thinking I should say "close to lobby"

Read on for the info about elevators.
YC elevators:
There is also a small one that goes down to the laundry room. It's in the wing that is on the left side of the gazebo, I used it when I was there since they don't have vending machines on the 2nd floor. I don't know if there is one on the BC side of YC but I seem to remember one over in the wing that is behind the bar, could be wrong, I always use the stairs.
There are two banks of elevators. The second one is near the marina end of the resort. It is really convenient for the YC guests who are in that section of the resort. But it is a long walk to the lobby from there.
I am not very familiar with the YC layout. This is the first floor layout from a very outdated map. Looks like the second elevator bank is near room 1067. Is that the one loves to dive and Wood Nymph describe?
11 days until we are there! My only request was full balcony because DH and I enjoy having a cocktail on the balcony. We love to take late night swims. Anyone have any idea of pool times for late October early November??
Could someone at the resort now report back on the current open and closing hours for SAB?
Thanks!
We just got back from the Beach Club, we were there Oct. 9-13th. We loved the hotel and we had a great time. Thank you for the tip about the side entrance from Epcot. We were in room 4554 so this was really convenient and we used it several times coming and going from our room.
Thanks so much for your review and view picture.
If you are able, could you add your room description to the BC View thread on the Photo subforum?
THANKS!
Has anyone else ever had issues swimming at SAB in December? We will be there Dec 5-10 and I don't want the kids too cold but I don't want to miss out on SAB either. I heard the pools are heated but will the slides be too? Any ideas or thoughts on past experiences welcome! TIA
