Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

My only real criticism of WL was the pool-situation. The day we went to the pool, there were zero lounge chairs available and it was child soup in the one hot tub that was working. We went over to the BR pool and didn’t have access to it since we weren’t staying DVC (for some reason, I was under the impression you could use both pools). A CM did let us in but we felt weird and didn’t go back after our illicit use of the pool. The main pool did seem to be better in the evening but we were absolutely exhausted.
Both pools have always been available to guests of WL, CCV and BR. You should have been able to get into that pool.

Our MBs did not unlock the gate and when I mentioned it to the CM, he said we had to be DVC in order to use the pool. Is this new??
It's a shared element in the Public Offering Statement for BRV. Maybe the CM was misinformed?

(2) states "Description of Recreational and Other Commonly Used Facilities that will be Used Only by Owners. There are no recreational or other commonly used facilities that will be used only by Owners." and nothing is bulleted.

(3) states "Description of Recreational and Other Commonly Used Facilities that will not be Used Only by Owners." and lists the BRV pool.

is the gate typically locked at BR pool? Just seems odd that if all guests have access then why would the gate be locked? Will have to remember the above for our next stay.

Yes the CM was making it up yet again. Maybe they were a former bus driver.

The only DVC pool that I know of that is not available to both DVC guests of a resort, and regular room guests at the same resort would be at the BLT Bay Cove pool which is only for guests of BLT.

The new BR pool always had locking gates. I think that guests at BR, CCV and WL were happy to see that the gates to the pool were locked. There has always been a problem with non-resort guests using the pools.

I agree for non-resort guests. But it should be available to all resort guests, since some might be staying on cash.

Definitely glad they're locking the gates but the gates at the main pool definitely were not locked during our stay. sadly. Hopefully with all the complaints lately about non-guests using the pools all the gates will be locked. Thanks all! Definitely wasn't an issue that would/will keep us from staying next time. Now to book the bounce-back!

Someone posted a short video of the current construction on Facebook. Took a screenshot to share…

Starting to get a little concerned with all this work going on that our first stay here won’t be great - we leave in 3 weeks!
Looks like some pretty significant work is being done. Idk if it will be done in three weeks but you can always call and ask. If the work being done is an issue and louder than expected don’t expect any compensation or discounts. Big difference if someone is 100 days out as that will prob be done by than but idk

Just home from WL. Ended up with great room that actually had a fireworks view …I was so excited that I totally forgot to take a photo of the fire works. Lower fireworks obstructed by trees but clear view of high fireworks. I did add the Old Faithful Club but now I wish I had just added dining plan for 2 nights I was at WL. We don’t drink the alcoholic beverages and didn’t care for most of evening offerings. First night was good with Brisket and salads that had chick peas, olives and or feta cheese added in…we like the brisket although it was very fatty. Didn’t care for the salads either night. Second night was Sausage and vegetable mixture and kids offering was chicken tenders. Desserts each evening included the same cookies, small cupcakes, and a cobbler. The coolers were good but I really think they were even better years ago. Definitely wasn’t worth it for us since we are so picky. There were families with children who the $149 per night gave them breakfast and dinner with a few items that could have served as kids lunch such as the Smuckers PB&J sandwiches….a pretty good deal. Less picky eaters who would enjoy beer and wine would definitely find value in adding the Club.
I would definitely love returning to WL just wouldn’t do Club. We enjoying dining at Geyser Point, Roaring Fork and Whispering Canyon and the Boulder Ridge pool was so relaxing and peaceful.

Just make sure you understand to rules/limits for adding either version (QS/TS) of the Dining Plan. What type of tickets did you have and did you purchase a package or Room Only (RO) for your WL stay?

Did you mean to type cobblers? Yes they used to have much more sugar in the recipes which made for more intense flavor.

Wait a second if I’m staying at wilderness lodge for just $149 I can get access to the club level? How many people to a room get access to it? Like kids can also come for that value? Is that all the time for that price?

They have alcohol available during all hours from like morning to evening? I read it’s self pour?
This is very tempting
